Chapter 19 Winston
WINSTON
“I’m a little nervous,” I admit to Dove as we pull into her parents’ driveway to drop off our son.
There’s a charity gala tonight where all the wealthy people in the city will come, flaunt their money, and donate to the child cancer fundraiser that goes to all the children’s cancer centers and hospitals in the city.
I’m in a simple tuxedo and Dove is wearing a tailored velvet red strapless dress that hugs her body in ways that have me wishing we could go back to yesterday, when we spent the majority of our time in bed.
“Nervous? Why are you nervous?” she asks as we get out of the car.
“Because I’m probably closer to your parents’ age than I am to yours. They might not like that once they see me in person.”
“They aren’t going to care.” She unbuckles the car seat just as her parents open the front door.
Her mom screeches. “Oh my god, is that my grandchild?” A short dark-haired woman with gray streaks comes running down the front steps. “Finally. Oh, I was getting so antsy waiting to meet him. Let me see him, Dove.”
“I’m getting him out of the car seat. And it’s so good to see you too, Mom,” Dove teases.
“Oh, Dove. Don’t be dramatic. You know I love you but I want to meet my grandbaby.”
“What about my fiancé?” Dove straightens, flashes her hand at her mom, and they both scream together.
Her mom jumps up and down with excitement, tears rushing down her face. Her mascara is ruined with the black lines staining her cheeks.
“Oh my god, Dove. It’s so beautiful. It’s huge. Holy shit,” she curses, causing me to smile.
“Great. Now, I’m going to have to upgrade my wife’s ring,” a deep voice booms beside me along with a hand clamping down on my shoulder.
“I’m Dave Blair. We spoke on the phone after you saved my daughter’s life.
” He holds out his hand to me, an appreciation glimmering from his eyes that I often see from a patient’s family when the surgery is successful. “Thank you for saving her.”
I meet his handshake, giving it a firm squeeze. “I want you to know I’ll always save her. There won’t be a day when I won’t.”
“I know. You’re a good man. I couldn’t be more proud to call you my son-in-law.” He tugs me forward, taking me by surprise. “And I know what you did,” he whispers so only I can hear him. “I know you paid off the mortgage and our debt.”
“I’m taking care of my family,” I state.
“Dove’s family is mine and my family won’t struggle.
” I don’t leave room for an argument. This isn’t a pissing contest. I’m not trying to prove myself or wave my money around.
“I apologize if you think it was disrespectful. That wasn’t my angle.
I truly only wanted to help Dove. She kept tell me how badly you two want to travel but you couldn’t, so I won’t be sorry for doing it. ”
“I’m not mad. I’m appreciative. Thank you, Winston. And how did you know our bank accounts?” He lifts a big bushy brow.
“Dave,” I chuckle. “You don’t want to know the answer to that.” I wink.
“And the extra three hundred thousand dollars that’s in the account?”
“Yours to do with as you wish. Every month, that same amount will be applied. I also have stocks in your name, so you’re set for the rest of your lives.”
He clears his throat, covering our hands with his other one, giving it a good pat as he fights his emotion. “I appreciate you. Thank you. You’ve changed our lives and I’m still getting over my pride about it, but I won’t fight it either.”
“This is just the best day,” Dove’s mom sniffles, cradling baby Winston. “I’m Diane.” She waves at me, her nose red from the crying she’s been doing for the last five minutes.
I walk toward her, bend down, and kiss her on the cheek. “It’s nice to meet you finally, Diane. Thank you for watching baby Winston while we go to this gala.”
“Are you kidding? I’m so excited to have him here. He gets to spend the night, right?”
“Yes, mom.” Dove chuckles. “Is Ethan here?”
“He’s working the night shift right now. They changed his schedule.”
“That explains why I haven’t heard from him as much,” Dove mumbles.
“Are things better with Hanson?” Dave asks her.
“No, but that’s okay. We’ll figure it out.” Dove bends down and kisses our son on the forehead, rubbing his chubby cheek with her finger. “I don’t know if I can leave him for a whole night.”
“How about when your party is done, you video call? You can see he’s alive and well,” Dave offers.
“That would be great, Dave. Thank you so much,” I say.
“I hope this means we’ll see more of you?” Diane lifts her watery eyes from Winston to Dove.
“Yeah, Mom. I’m sorry about that. I thought I had to do everything on my own and I shouldn’t have felt that way. I pushed you all away and I shouldn’t have.”
“She’s moved out of that small apartment and into my house.
We should do weekly dinners and weekend brunches.
I’d love to plan more,” I say, checking my watch to see that we really need to go.
“I’m sorry. Dove, we need to go. I have to get there soon,” I say, kissing her temple.
“I don’t mean to drop the baby and run—”
“You’re an important man. Important men always have to do important things,” Dave says. “You guys go. We’ll be okay. We’ve raised two kids of our own. We might know what we’re doing.”
Dove reaches into the back seat for the diaper bag. “Okay, I have all of his favorite things. I pumped so much milk. He shouldn’t need more. He likes to fall asleep to crickets chirping. I don’t know why or how, but that’s what we play now to get him to sleep.”
“Who doesn’t like to fall asleep to crickets chirping?” Dave mumbles.
I open the passenger side door for Dove. “I hope to get to know you all better soon rather than just ditching the grandchild with you.”
“Don’t worry about it. We love it. You two look wonderful. I couldn’t ask for a better life for Dove. Thanks for taking care of her.”
“I always will.” I shut the door as soon as Dove climbs in.
I kiss my son goodbye and run to the driver’s seat, giving one last final wave before I sling my arm over the seat and turn to look over my shoulder to reverse out of the driveway.
“I didn’t think it would be so hard leaving him,” Dove whispers, staring out the window until we’re far enough away that she can’t see him. “It’s so hard.”
I take her hand in mine. “I know. I miss him too, but we don’t need to stay long at the gala. We can make our appearance and leave to go get him if you want.” I kiss the top of her hand, loving how soft her skin is.
“Right. We can see how the night goes and go from there,” she says, exhaling a deep breath.
“Exactly. And we can text them every hour too to check in. It will be fine.” My eyes catch a glimpse of her leg peeking through the slit of her dress.
Those legs are begging to be wrapped around me.
When we get to the gala, I’m going to sneak us into the bathroom so I can fuck her in that dress.
I want her to feel me between her legs as we dance tonight.
I want to drip down her thighs. No one will be able to see, but I’ll know, Dove will know, and that’s all that matters to me.
I want that to be our little secret.
Placing our joined hands on her thigh, I slip my fingers under the high slit, dragging them up her thigh.
“Winston,” she gasps, and much to my surprise, she spreads her legs, allowing me in further. “What do you think you’re doing?”
“What do you think I’m doing?” I rub her cunt through the material of her panties. “You look so fucking beautiful, Dove. You’re going to have all eyes on you tonight and I think I need to remind you who you belong to.”
“I know who I belong to, and so does everyone else.” She grabs the handle above the door, groaning when I slip my fingers under her panties. “I mean, look at my ring! No one can miss that.” She moans when I circle her clit.
“You’re already so wet for me. I’m starting to think this was your plan all along.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she mewls, swaying her hips side to side. “You’re driving, Winston. Maybe we shouldn’t.”
“Don’t worry. We’re almost there and you know what you’re going to do when we get there? You’re going to crawl onto my lap and fuck me. Then, you’re going to keep every drop inside you while we dance tonight.”
“Winston!” she says, scolding me for the naughty idea, but with how wet she is, I know she loves it.
“Every step you take tonight, you’ll feel me.”
“But you won’t feel me.”
“My cock will be wet from your come. I’ll smell of you.
I’ll be marked, but as if that would matter—my eyes are always going to be on you.
Everyone knows my obsession with you, Dove.
Don’t forget my videos went viral when I was looking for you.
Everyone there will be watching us, envious of the beauty that I have on my arm.
” I slip my fingers free, bringing them to my mouth to gather her taste.
“Mmm, fuck, you taste good.”
“Winston,” she whimpers. “Don’t leave me aching for you.”
“You’ll wait just another minute. We’re almost there.”
“Winston, please!” she begs, slipping her hand between her legs to bring herself relief.
I snag her wrist as we come to a red light. “What do you think you’re doing? Who said you could touch yourself?”
“Winston, I need relief. I’m throbbing. I’m literally throbbing. Please,” she begs again, fighting with my hold on her wrist.
“You’ll wait until we’re parked, because the only thing that will make you come tonight is my cock. No my hand, not my tongue, not my fingers. Only my cock. Do you think you can be a good girl for me and wait?”
“I don’t know,” she admits, gathering the material of her gown to lift to her thighs. She reaches under and takes off her panties, tossing them onto the floorboard. “I might not be able to wait. I’m soaking your seat now.”
