15. Autumn

FIFTEEN

AUTUMN

Blinking awake, I check the time on my phone and groan softly. Winnie will be up in less than twenty minutes if we’re lucky, so no point going back to sleep.

I glance to my side, watching Dodge sleep for a moment. Usually he’s the last one down, but the first one up. And usually his mouth is between my legs, teasing me awake. This is my chance to return the favor. I move gently to face him, dragging the sheet down, showing off his ungodly hot body.

The bed creaks just a tiny bit as I move over him, and I wince, holding my breath before pressing a kiss to his pelvis. I follow a path down to his cock that’s twitching awake from my teasing kisses .

I curl my hand around his shaft, running my tongue along the ridge of his crown while slowly stroking him harder. His stomach contracts, and I try to hide my smile as he’s roused from his slumber.

My lips form around his tip, sucking him into my mouth. It took me a bit to get used to feeling the metal down his length when I do this or stroke him with my hand, but I’ve gotten better with each time. He groans, lifting his hips as his fingers twist in the sheets.

“Fuck, baby.” His plea is still hoarse with sleep, and his breathing is heavy as I bob up and down his length.

After a moment, Dodge’s hand cups my face, pushing my hair out of it, and I flick my eyes up to his. His cock jerks, growing a little harder.

“What’d I do to wake up to such a beautiful sight?” he teases. His eyes roll back when I suck him deeper, squeezing the base tighter.

“Fuck, Autumn. Gonna suck me dry, woman.” Dodge is breathless as I pop off his cock, still stroking him and smiling.

“Just returning the favor since I woke up before you,” I tell him, sucking him back into my mouth .

He moans again, his hips rolling with my movements. “Don’t…think…I’m not going…to…eat your pussy.” He gets out through pants. “Fuck, just like that. Gonna come.”

My moan is muffled as I keep up the pace, feeling how wet I’m getting between my legs from how turned on he is.

He shudders, and his cock swells before the hot, salty release spills into my mouth. I swallow it all down, sucking and stroking him through it before he waves me off and collapses back onto the bed.

“Jesus christ, woman. Sucking me dry,” Dodge says with a breathless laugh.

I giggle and move to lie down next to him when he lets out a growl, catching me around my waist.

“Where are you going? Sit on my fucking face.”

I gasp, then moan as he places me where he needs me, and my fingers curl over the headboard, letting my head fall back in pleasure.

I kiss Dodge goodbye for the second time and shut the door behind him, slumping against it for a moment. God, I thought he’d never leave. Almost like he could tell I was hurrying him out.

Once Winnie is done eating, I clean her and set her up in the playpen with a toy. “I’ll be right back, Win.”

I hurry to the bathroom, pulling out the boxes of tests we bought.

Dodge wanted to be prepared for the earliest we could test, which was yesterday.

I don’t know why, but I wanted to take the first one by myself.

If it’s positive, I can do some cute surprise for him.

A contrast from the last time he found out he was going to be a father.

My heart is pounding away, making my breath a little shallow, and my hands shake as I go through the motions of taking two of the pregnancy tests and set them on the counter. I check on Winnie, then come back to wait for the results in the bathroom, pacing in front of the sink.

I flip them over after another minute, and some of the nerves melt away. Squinting at the tests, I know that the two negatives leave nothing to overthink.

I shake off the disappointment. It’s only been a couple of weeks; that’s okay. If I remember what I read previously, it can take up to a year before you might want to look into some other options.

A knock on the door startles me, and I rush to the front, panicked that I might have forgotten to lock it after Dodge left.

Winnie babbles at me excitedly as I pass, and I look through the peephole. It’s a young woman with raven hair and an infant swaddled in her arms.

I frown, opening the door.

She smiles when she sees me. “Autumn, right? I’m Mikayla, Gage’s old lady. I hope it’s okay I stopped by unannounced, but I didn’t have your number. And we keep missing each other at the club.”

I blink at her for a moment. “Uhmm.” I’ve heard of her and briefly saw her through the windshield one time when we dropped off Winnie.

“Oh, sorry. Look.” She turns around, shoving her hair off her back, and I can see the same emblem that’s on Dodge’s cut, but hers has PROPERTY OF GAGE in large letters surrounding it.

It’s a comforting sight, so I open the door wider. “Come in. ”

She does, waving when Winnie lets out an excited squeal. “Hi, Winnie girl!”

It’s hard to hold back the smile on my face, even if this woman is a stranger to me. She sets the bag that had been slung over her shoulder down on the ground, and then her baby next to it before looking up at me.

“Sorry again. I was in the neighborhood, and I didn’t want to call and ask Gage or Dodge for your number because they’d just find a way to come home earlier,” she says with an eye roll, “and I desperately needed girl time.”

Some of the tension is starting to leave my body, taking the awkwardness with it. I move closer, smiling down at the adorable baby boy.

She unpacks a small tummy-time mat and sets him on it.

“This is Dillion. God, I can’t tell you how amazing it is that there’s finally another old lady. I’ve been dying. Razer’s old lady is like ten years older than me, so we don’t mesh real well.” With a bright smile, she stands. “Do you mind watching him? I have to piss so bad.”

I shake my head in a whirl from her friendly, but chaotic, energy. “Go ahead. ”

Just as she heads down the hallway, I remember what I left on the counter.

“Mikayla, wait!” I hurry down, but she’s standing at the doorframe and looks back at me.

My cheeks flush. “Sorry. I completely forgot about it when you knocked on the door,” I apologize as I move past her, swiping them into the trash.

She gives me a soft smile when I turn back to her. There’s no judgment in her expression. Her head cocks to the side with a raised eyebrow.

“Well? Am I saying congrats? Condolences? Is this…like an accident?” The last question she whispers, as if afraid of being overheard. A secret meant only for us.

A sense of girlhood that I’ve always wanted pulls at my heart, and I have the urge to cry again. God, maybe I am pregnant and the test is wrong.

When I don’t answer right away, she glances down the hallway at the babies before stepping closer to me. “Anything you need to keep between us, I’ll keep it, okay? Girls gotta stick together.”

I blink, surprised. “You wouldn’t tell Gage? ”

She rolls her eyes. “Believe me. They keep plenty to themselves. I feel no guilt having old lady secrets.”

My heart picks up at the term again. I have a brief understanding of what it means, even if she’s the only old lady between us.

Mikayla checks on the babies again, and I blow out a steadying breath.

“We’re trying, but this is only the first month.

That was my first time taking the tests, but they were negative.

” I chew on my bottom lip. I’m not too disappointed.

I know it can take a while, but I guess I hoped that it would happen the first time.

Maybe, selfishly, I don’t want Dodge to have time to change his mind, as stupid as that sounds.

She smiles wide. “That’s so exciting. I’m so happy that Dodge found someone he loves.”

My head jerks back. “Oh, we’re—we haven’t…

uhm.” I groan, rubbing the heat blooming on my cheeks.

I hate, hate how easily I blush, especially when embarrassed.

And now I made it sound like we don’t love each other.

We do, I’m positive, but I can’t remember if we’ve actually ever said the words.

Probably not. This all happened so suddenly .

Mikayla snorts. “Don’t worry, I’m the queen of complicated relationships.”

I frown. Dodge has only spoken highly of Gage.

She squeezes my shoulder. “Why don’t you check on the babies? I’m going to pee because your girl has no bladder, and I’ll tell you all about it.”

I leave her to it, moving back to the living room to play next to the babies. Mikayla comes back a few minutes later, walking right into the kitchen.

“Want a dirty soda? I was obsessed with them when I was pregnant and I feel like this conversation is better with a dirty soda in hand,” she asks, grabbing a few things from the fridge.

My eyebrows dip. “I don’t know what that is, but I think we only have beer. I don’t drink much, but I don’t think Dodge does either.”

She laughs. “They’d spank me if I was drinking. Dirty soda is soda with cream and syrups, but we’ll have to make do with just the cream.”

Shrugging, I smile back at her. “I’ll try it.”

Winnie is playing with one of her toys, and Dillion is staring up at the arch connected to the play mat, swatting at the mirror. Mikayla sits down next to me on the couch, handing me the drink and then sighing.

“Okay, so I assume Dodge told you I’m with Gage.”

I nod, sipping and not hating the taste, honestly.

“Did he tell you that Gage is my stepbrother?”

It takes effort not to cough up the small sip, and I shake my head.

“Yeah, figured. But wait, there’s more!” she teases with a laugh. “I’m also with my stepdad, Shaw.”

Now my eyes are wide, and I’m speechless. Not in a bad way; I’m not judging her. It’s more of a please tell me how kind of way.

Mikayla hides her smile behind her soda as she takes a drink, then continues.

“We’re not really open about the whole stepdad part.

It makes people uncomfortable, so it’s whatever.

But…” She glances over at Dillion, and her face softens.

“I think we want to try for another one soon. At least I want to, so I get it. The trying part is fun.”

I chuckle. “It is. Uhm, how did all that happen? If you don’t mind me asking. ”

She shakes her head. “I’m not ashamed, it’s more for the club’s businesses that we keep it on the DL.

But also, Shaw doesn’t care. He stays home with us all day, it’s no matter to him.

Anyway, long story short, I wanted to join the club as, you know, one of those girls.

They said no, so Gage claimed me as his old lady because I threatened to leave town, which I’ve always had a crush on Gage.

My daddy just…kind of happened, and I wasn’t mad about it.

They weren’t really around much when I grew up, so I never really thought of them like that, you know? ”

My head hurts a little from trying to keep up, but I think I get the gist. “And your mom?”

“Took off when I was little,” she says with a shrug.

“Oh my god, me too!” It comes out more excited than I meant, but we both laugh. “Sorry. My dad left as soon as I was eighteen, too. This job, Dodge, it’s kind of all I have.”

Her eyes soften, and she nods. “I get it. They’re my life too, and the club. We may not be involved with everything, but the club is still our life, their life.”

We stare at each other for a moment, and then I smirk. “So your stepbrother and stepdad, huh? ”

We break off into more laughter, startling the kids, barely able to contain our giggles. I don’t care, though. Something tells me that we’re going to be good friends.
