Autumn sighs, her hand moving to her stomach. “Yes, and no. I like having the proof, but I still feel normal.”
“Worried about morning sickness?” I’m a little worried.
I want this pregnancy to be easy for her, and I want us to enjoy every moment if we can.
We can’t control any of it, but I don’t want her to look back and remember how miserable it was.
Especially if we plan to have any more. As much as I want a large family, Autumn’s health is my most important priority.
She laughs. “No, not yet. We’ll see how it goes. It helps that we found out so early, so I can watch for it and prepare. I can’t wait to have a baby bump, though.”
I smile. I can’t wait for that either. Ember hid her pregnancy until she couldn’t any longer, and the rest of the time was filled with mistrust that the child was actually mine.

“Hey, everything is okay. Winnie is good. This is a good surprise,” I tell her.
Her pulse is still pounding in her neck, and she takes a few deep breaths to calm herself. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to overreact.”
I shake my head. “You’re okay. I wish you never experienced what happened at the grocery store. I can see now how this might have upset you with everyone gathered again.”
Autumn’s smile is a little wary, and she rests her forehead on my chest. “I thought I was okay. It just came out of nowhere.”
Rubbing her back, I press a kiss to her temple and let us sit in silence for a few minutes.
“Alright, ready to go get our girl?”
She nods, squeezing me tightly once before letting go. I grab her hand, tangling our fingers. My stomach twists a little, suddenly nervous. Autumn has already accepted being my old lady, but now we’re making it official.
When we reach the front door, I knock once before opening it. Then I jump when I get a face full from a confetti cannon, some even sticking to my lips. Autumn gasps, then giggles softly, catching a few pieces of the falling scraps of paper.
Gage snorts. “Fuck. I didn’t realize there’s some actual power behind these things. My bad.”
I blow the pieces out of my mouth, and then pull Autumn inside.
Mikayla is standing next to Gage, holding up a leather jacket.
My woman gasps even louder this time, her eyes locked on it and tears already starting to well up. “Is that?—”
I grab it from Mik, turning it around to show off PROPERTY OF DODGE stitched on the back.
Autumn’s hand flies to her mouth, letting out an excited squeak.
Warmth spreads throughout my chest. I wasn’t sure she would want it.
Mikayla was convinced she would, saying that Autumn had admired it when she visited her .
Shaking it a little, I nod for her to turn around and help her into it. Autumn wraps it tight around her body, grinning up at me.
“You like it?” I ask.
She nods. “I love it.”
Before I can kiss her, Gage pats my shoulder, and Mikayla hugs Autumn.
“Look at us. Taken men. Women wearing our names,” he says, pulling me into a side hug as well.
I roll my eyes. “Yeah, yeah. Just another reminder we’re getting old.”
Gage laughs. “Don’t say that around my dad. He might kick your ass to prove a point.”
A chorus of cheers breaks out as the rest of the council join us in the foyer, congratulating Autumn and me.
Some of them may have watched me take my woman that night, but this feels more official than anything else.
I watch the happiness shine on Autumn’s face as she talks with some of my brothers, and I know that I made the right choice.
