Chapter 22

POTTY MOUTH

KIARA

The sun hid behind the grayish clouds, warning us about the upcoming water shower as humidity hovered heavily around us in the thick, musky wind. Today's atmosphere was a bit on the gloomy side and the streets looked dull. Everyone walked with an umbrella just in case it started to shower.

"I hate studying!" I grumbled, stomping toward the Brian Library, named after the late owner of the land, whose will was to build this library just beside a café. Brian Library was very famous among the students and everyone came here to study for the upcoming exams.

Ethan raised his eyebrow, not surprised by my moodiness. "That bad?"

I huffed, "You don't say."

When I say that Brian library is famous among students, I mean almost every student residing in Lakewood. And that means, my ex-crush and annoying piano classmate, Paul Corey would be here.

Tingles shot through my skin when Ethan wrapped his muscular arm around my waist, pulling me close to him.

I gave him a pointed look, ignoring his spicy, musky scent when he grinned down at me.

I took a sharp breath when he moved his face closer, leaning toward my ear, and bit down my earlobe, flicking his tongue teasingly while I bit my lip from letting out a loud moan.

"Don't worry, we might get time for a quickie."

"Quickie? In one of the most public libraries?"

"Well, we did have sex in one of the—mfgh!"

I clamped his mouth shut while his blue and green eyes gleamed mischievously, staring down at me. "I am here to study, Ethan. And you're going to help me in pre-calculus, capisce?"

I felt him kiss my palm and my face warmed when heat crawled in my cheeks. He pulled my hand away and pushed me closer to him, making my eyes go wide.

Ethan slowly roved his now-clouded eyes at my face and body then whispered in a deep, sensual voice, "Yes, ma'am. I will be more than happy to guide you and I was thinking . . ."

I breathed out, "And?"

"If you study properly, I will have sex with you."

"Deal."

"Word."

My moody mood disappeared and I was ready to study thinking about Ethan's dick.

I think that if every student had this kind of inspiration to study, no one would fail.

But then I realized that that would turn out to be a bad scenario.

Unfortunately, I forgot my backpack in the backseat of Ethan's car.

I was busy muttering curses in my mother tongue when I bumped into someone.

"Bho—um, shit? Are you okay?" I mentally cursed myself, helping Ariana with her flying notes.

Her pale face flushed. "Um . . . yeah. Yeah, sure."

I wasn't surprised to see her. But why was she acting so weird? Or is it my flushed face thinking about a very naked Ethan?

"Are you all right?" I asked her.

She chuckled softly, her voice like a hyena. "Yeah, Kiara. I'm absolutely fine. Um, can I ask you something?"

No.

"Yeah, sure.”

Ariana nervously fiddled with her perfectly manicured nails, tucking her long black hair away.

I pursed my lips. "What did you want to talk about, Ariana?"

Her head shot up, her blue eyes going wide. "Um, you know what? I’ll tell you later. Meet me at the washroom at six.”

Before I could reply, she walked away. "Weird," I muttered, walking inside the library, and the sweet scent of old books wafted through my nose, making my face light up with a broad smile.

The air inside the library was airy and fresh with a hint of lavender.

There were rows of wooden bookshelf reaching the ceiling, stacked with ancient and modern books related to every single topic.

As I walked toward the wooden tables in the corner, which was our study spot, I heard Rio exclaim angrily, "I hate Ryan!"

A few of the students shot him a glare while I hid my smile sitting beside Ethan, who was taking out his notes, fiddling with his pen and comparing his notes with Volt. He was such a nerd.

"What did he do this time?" I asked Rio and Volt, and they grumbled under their breaths while Katherine was grinning from ear to ear. Knowing Ryan, he must have bought something or did something for Katherine.

Rio rolled his green eyes. "They’re both going to London on the night of prom. I don't even know how he convinced her parents.”

Every year, our school had a prom after graduation so everyone could enjoy their last day at prom. I frowned at Katherine, who was busy typing on her phone. "Hey, you are coming to the prom, right?"

She looked up at me and made a face. "Of course, silly! We will do all that girly stuff girls do, and then I will leave early to meet up with Ryan and we will leave."

Volt, who was sitting across from me, glared at her. "I wish Ryan was my sugar daddy."

We all laughed at him, and I and Ethan shared a knowing glance before bursting into laughter again.

Other students gave us a warning glare and we quieted down.

Even though I woke up crying and thinking about my mom, I was glad for my friends.

Especially my best friend who was solving a physics problem with Katherine.

He helped me in pre-calculus and explained each and every problem with great patience. Also, because his hand was on my thigh almost all the time, teasing me if I didn't get the answer right. Jerk.

"So, what would be the physical quantities? Find their iden—” Ethan paused and started chuckling, hiding his face. I looked at him and around us. There was nothing out of the ordinary to chortle like that.

"What is it? Why are you laughing?"

He looked at me and blushed, shaking his head. When I gave him the I-won't-let-you-kiss-me-if-you-don't-tell-me look, he pointed at the word quantities and identities with his pen. And then it hit me, so I started chuckling with him.

Rio snapped angrily, "What is it?"

We both shared a look and chuckled, shaking our heads at Rio, who frowned at us. Volt asked, "Come on, tell us." He paused and added, "Unless you're thinking about your sex life, we don't wanna know."

Katherine smacked his arm. "I wanna know!" She turned toward me with a big grin and said, "Tell me!"

I looked at Ethan, who was grinning, and said, "Quantities. Identities."

"Um . . ."

"So?"

"Huh?"

I snorted, "Don't you guys get it? Quantities. Identities."

They all had a poker face. So, Ethan explained with calm, "Quan-tities. Iden-tities. Get it?" We started chuckling again because we were immature pieces of shit.

They all shook their heads in disappointment. "You both are so immature."

"Why did I even bother to ask?" Rio grumbled and stood up to get the books he needed to complete his History assignment.

“Hey, Kiara.”

I waved at Paul with a small smile. “Hey, Paul. Fancy seeing you here.”

He nodded, staring at Ethan, and smiled my way, “Are you free this Saturday?”

Not again.

Ethan looked up, a vein twitching on his neck when he glared at him. I was sure if I was on the other side of that glare, I'd probably pee in my pants.

“No, she’s not. I am taking her out after we win the swim competition,” Ethan replied.

“We will see who wins the competition.” Paul ran a hand through his dark hair. “Kiara, you can join me at the party. I promise you that I can make your night more memorable.”

I bit my lip, keeping my palm on Ethan’s clenched fist hiding under the table. Sighing, I looked up at his dirty green eyes, smirking down at me. Seriously, what the hell did I see in him?

“Paul, please leave. I have already told you no a million times. I have no interest in going out with you.”

Paul opened his mouth to say something when Ethan stood up, his chair creaking back.

Ethan stared him down with a glare, “Leave.”

No one dared to speak. Even Katherine, the peacemaker, knew better than to stop Ethan. He added, “Before I have to explain to your sister why your jaw is broken.”

I swear I heard his knuckles crack under his fist and felt my core dripping, but I focused on the current situation rather than worshipping him then and there. Bad timing, Kiara.

Paul's eyes darkened, remembering how his elder sister came to Ethan's apartment, complaining about her little brother's broken nose after Ethan had punched him five years ago near that ice cream truck.

Even thirteen-year-old Ethan knew how to throw a good punch.

I remembered how he had held my hand with his bruised one and bought me the ice cream as we walked to the roof where I cleaned his knuckles and shared our first kiss.

Rio came back with loads of books in his arms and when he saw Paul, he grimaced. "Ugh, why are you here?"

Volt finally looked up from his notes. "Because he has nothing better to do than harass other people."

I stood up from my chair and kept my palm over Ethan's clenched fist. I said with a firm voice, "Leave, Paul."

Paul clenched his jaw and he narrowed his eyes at my hand. "So you're fucking him now?" He chuckled dryly and looked at Ethan. "I bet she is a screamer—”

We all took a sharp breath when Ethan grabbed Paul's collar across the table and pulled him closer, almost painfully as I saw Paul hiss in pain. I swallowed the lump in my throat when Ethan's eyes darkened glaring at Paul, who was trying to get rid of Ethan's clenched fist on his collar.

"Say that to my face." Ethan's teeth gritted in anger and I lost my focus when I saw veins bulging in Ethan's forearm—oh Lord. I came back from my fantasy land when Ethan added, "I dare you."

Paul's eyes flickered to my face and back to Ethan's and for a moment I saw a hint of fear blinking in his dirty green eyes when he met Ethan's stare. Paul's throat bobbed up and down and he pursed his lips, clenching his jaw and safely deciding not to reply.

Ethan pushed him away, nodding at himself. "Thought so."

I would've jumped on him and kissed the shit out of him, ripping his shirt away if we were alone. Sadly, we weren't.

Paul angrily straightened his shirt and looked between me and Ethan. "I'll see you both in the competition. Don't run back to her lap when you lose." He clicked his tongue and walked away.
