21. Sophia
Chapter 21
Sophia
“I know you said no Christmas presents, but I kind of bought you something before you told me that. And then I chickened out on giving it to you on Christmas.” Pecker grips the back of his neck, looking a little nervous.
We’re lying on Colt’s couch and have been talking about our plans to visit Mulberry Lane for the past hour. I can't wait to have everyone meet him.
Colt surprised Zoey and took her home to Philadelphia a few days ago. Though I really wanted to come, I agreed to stay home and watch Snow. I think it’s better if the entire Robinson/Moore family gets to visit with Zoey and Colt without me being there with Pecker. Plus, I think Jared would kill us if they both left town at the same time. He’d have to be on call twenty-four hours a day and that wouldn’t be fair to him.
“You really didn’t have to do that, babe.”
“I know, but I saw this and I thought of you.” He slips out from under me and grabs something out of his work bag by the front door. He comes back with a thin box wrapped in black paper with a gold bow sitting on top.
“What is this?”
“You’ll have to open it to find out.” He settles onto the couch and pulls me half on top of him again.
I slowly unwrap the present as excitement spreads through me. I love getting presents, but I didn’t expect one from him.
“Why didn’t you give it to me on Christmas?”
“I don’t know. I guess I felt weird doing it because I knew you didn’t have one for me. I'm not upset about that, so don’t start feeling like you owe me something.” He lifts my chin, making me stare deep into his eyes. “Do you understand?”
“Yes.”
“Good. Open that present so I can find out if you like it.”
I pull a jewelry box out of the wrapping paper and stare at Pecker. He motions for me to keep going and I carefully lift the lip to the box. A soft gasp leaves my mouth as my eyes fall on the most beautiful bracelet I’ve ever seen.
“You got me a diamond tennis bracelet? Pecker, this is too much!”
“Nah, baby. Nothing is too much for you. I thought it’d look really good on you. If you don’t like it, the jeweler said we could return it and get something else you’d like.”
“These are real diamonds?” I blink down at the bracelet. There’s no way he bought me a real diamond bracelet.
“Yes.” He chuckles, pulling me in for a kiss. “Why is that so surprising?”
“Because this has to be expensive!”
“It definitely wasn’t cheap, but I wanted to spoil my girl.”
“What if I break up with you?”
“Well, that would make me horribly sad and I don’t think having a few more hundred dollars in the bank would ease the pain of that.” He frowns at me, his brows forming a deep V. “Are you going to break up with me? Because I’d really rather you didn’t. I want to move our relationship forward, not sever it.”
“I'm not breaking up with you, Peck.” I push his chest back until he’s lying flat on the couch, then I straddle his hips and kiss him. “I'm never breaking up with you.”
“Does that mean you’re going to marry me?” He murmurs against my lips.
“Maybe one day. I’d have to be asked though.”
“Oh, I’ll definitely ask. I plan on making you Mrs. Pecker.”
“Oh my gosh! I didn’t think about that!” I snort with laughter and drop my head to his chest.
“You don’t want to be Mrs. Pecker? I guess you could keep your last name.”
“Do you really think I want to go by Mrs. Robinson?” I arch a brow and wait for it to click for him.
“Damn, I didn’t even think of that.” He lets out a deep belly laugh and it might be my favorite sound ever.
“Why are you still at my house, it’s almost midnight?” Colt’s voice comes through one of the cameras in the corner of the living room, scaring the crap out of me. I let out a shriek and almost fall off of Pecker.
He grabs me at the last second and rights me on his lap… where I'm still straddling him.
“Sophia, I don’t think Papa Robinson would be pleased with the position you’re in right now,” Colt tsks.
“Shut up, Colt! I’ll invite a family of raccoons into your house while you’re gone.” I smile innocently at the camera.
“Normally I would respond with ‘You wouldn’t’, but something tells me you would…” He trails off.
“I one hundred percent would.”
“Fine, but Pecker better not stay over again.”
“Or what?”
“I’ll tell your dad.”
“Oh, no! Don’t tell Daddy I asked the big tough police officer – who saved my life recently – to stay over with me because I was scared in this big house all by myself. He might get sad.” I stick my lip out in a pout, making Pecker chuckle.
“How are you still a pain in my ass when you’re an eight hours’ drive away?”
“It’s a gift really.”
“Why do you torment the man?” Pecker tickles my side.
“Well, if you want to be an amazing boyfriend, you can really torment him by throwing me over your shoulder and carrying me into my room. Where there are no cameras and you’ll stay behind a closed door for the next eight hours. It will drive him crazy.”
“What are you two whispering about?” Colt asks, annoyance in his voice. He hates to be ignored.
“He’s my boss, babe.”
“Yeah, and my relationship with you has nothing to do with work. Do you really think he’d have the balls to screw with you?”
“Probably not, he’s too nice for that.” Pecker eyes me as a slow smirk spreads across his face. He sits up, taking me with him and stands to his full height. He lifts me until I'm draped over his shoulder and turns around to salute the camera. “Sorry, boss, I have a lady to make happy.”
He takes off running towards my room and slams the door behind us. We can hear Colt yelling something, but we can't make out the words. We chuckle as Pecker carefully lays me in the center of the bed and watches me.
“So, now what? Eight hours is a long time.”
“We could talk.”
“We could.” He nods his head.
“And maybe kiss.”
“That sounds nice.”
“Maybe a massage.”
“You really love massages.” His grin widens. I swear the man loves having his hands all over me.
“But I had another idea.” I tap my chin like I'm really thinking about it.
“And what’s that, baby?” He crawls up the bed until he’s hovering over me and kisses the side of my neck.
“Definitely more of that,” I moan, placing my hands on his stomach, under his shirt.
“I’m sure I could be convinced to keep kissing your neck,” he murmurs against my skin.
“Good, but I want more.” I slide my fingers down his stomach, enjoying the way his muscles contract. I slip them under the waistband of his sweatpants, more than thankful he changed when he got here after work. This would be a lot more difficult if he were wearing jeans or his uniform pants.
“What are you doing, beautiful?” He groans as my fingertips brush over his hard cock.
“Trying to convince my amazing boyfriend to finally touch me the way I want to be touched,” I whisper as my gaze locks with his.
“It won't take much convincing. You’re mine, Soph. I'm keeping you forever.” The words are barely out of his mouth when his lips crash into mine. This is going to be an unforgettable night.
