Chapter 32

Otto

Icaught Damian just before he hit the water, just before the air split with the sound of a siren’s scream.

I’ve heard that sound before. Last time, it burst my eardrums and nearly stopped my heart. I would have fallen to my death if my friend hadn’t caught me and saved my life.

This time, I’m far enough away that it isn’t lethal, but the pain is still excruciating. And the fear is worse. The siren’s scream is coming from the mountain, and Kat’s there.

If she were already a siren, it wouldn’t hurt her. If she were already in the lava, it might shield her. But I can see the speck of her form, hovering just above the mountain. And she’s falling.

No!!! I roar.

It’s as if everyone is holding their breath.

The fight stops, and everyone looks toward the mountain.

Damian’s prone body, shifted back into his human form, hangs across my back.

I look over my shoulder at him and find him conscious again, looking toward the mountain with the same anxious fear that squeezes my chest like a vise.

Did she make it? Were we too late?

The High Priestess said there were three outcomes, but I suddenly realize that’s not true. There’s a fourth, much more terrible option. One that takes Kat from us forever.

Thick tears cloud my vision. The siren’s song cuts out.

The dragons surrounding us from the Ruby Diamond horde huff with what sounds like laughter.

They swoop down toward the entrance to the temple.

Most likely to report their victory, celebrate, and nurse their wounded.

They don’t need to kill us. They’ve already won.

With just the threat of their siren, they can continue to maintain dominance over the other hordes, as they have for the past century.

I need to get Damian inside the temple. He’s bleeding heavily and needs urgent care. But I stay where I am, hovering on a breeze that draws me closer to the top of the mountain. Unable to turn away.

She can’t be gone. She can’t.

Damian lets out a gut-wrenching sob that shatters my world. She should have come out by now. If it had worked, she would have come out by now, right?

I force myself to fly down the mountain toward the temple, numb to each flap of my wings.

And then a sound meets my ears, a sound sweeter than any I’ve ever heard before. A song without words, pure emotion flowing from each note. I’m drawn like a fish on a hook. I turn and see her.

“K-kat?” Damian gasps.

The most stunning dragon I’ve ever seen—blood red—swoops down to us. She rubs her neck against mine, tangles our tails, and breathes over my back onto our injured mate. A breath, a song, and he shifts. Healed.

I had no idea sirens could do that.

Damian flaps his wings just above me, and we tangle together. I don’t know where they end and I begin. It’s impossible to fly, so we let ourselves fall, wrapped around our sweet siren mate. Just before we hit the water, her song crescendos, and we break apart.

Kat throws a toothy smile over her shoulder, and then she’s racing away from the mountain, away from us.

Overcome by instinct, Damian and I give chase.

She flies north until she lands on an iceberg, claws scraping the surface as she hits the ground hard and slides.

Damian and I are on her in a heartbeat, circling, stalking.

She shifts, laughing with delight as she takes her human form. Her eyes meet mine, twinkling with mirth. “If you catch me, you can have me however you want.” Her gaze shifts to Damian. “Maybe the way you took me in the shower?”

When did they have sex in the shower? Where was I when that happened? Oh… Oh. It worked.

“You remember.” Damian’s lips lift in an amazed smile just before he lunges toward our mate.

She shifts back into a dragon with a speed that impresses me and jumps from one iceberg to another before becoming human again.

“You have to share,” she hollers.

“Oh, hell yeah.” I rub my hands together, eager for what she’s offering. “Let’s do this.”

We chase Kat from iceberg to iceberg, letting her think she’s getting away with this little game while we slowly spread out until we surround her, each pouncing from a different direction at the same time. We tackle her to the ground, bodies warm with dragon fire even on the cold ice.

“You’re ours, beauty.” I roll, landing on my back with Kat on top of me, locking her tight against my body as Damian spreads her legs and watches as I enter her.

“Get her good and worked up for me, then we’ll show her what it really means to be full.” He reaches between us and strums her clit in fast little flicks that I know will set her off. “Come for us, and I’ll let you have more.”

Kat moans and shudders. Her toes curl. Her ass clenches. Damian pushes our legs open more, lifting my hips just enough that he can notch his cock right alongside mine.

“Wait,” Kat moans. “I can’t—”

“You can,” I soothe, petting her hair as Damian puts a little more pressure on her opening. The tip of him breaks past her tight rim, sliding alongside my cock in a way that has me groaning with pleasure, a shiver wracking my body.

“Fuck fuck fuck,” Kat chants. “I’m… It’s not gonna…”

“It’ll fit,” Damian growls right in her ear as he pushes in another inch.

She’s shaking, sweat slicking her body and mine despite the cold. I breathe out a soft curse, then coo sweet nothings in her ear as I bite her shoulder right as Damian shoves all the way to the hilt.

Kat screams, but it’s not a scream of pain. “Y-yes!” She reaches back, grabbing at Damian with one hand and pulling him deeper. “S-so f-full.”

“Oh, damn, beauty, you’re taking us so well, squeezing us together so tight,” I say, voice low and thick. “Fuck us, Damian. Fuck your mates.”

He roars, smoke billowing from his mouth as he moves in and out of Kat’s tight heat.

I’m trapped beneath them, unable to do anything but receive as he rubs against my firm length.

One of my hands tangles in his hair while the other cups Kat’s cheek.

One of his hands squeezes my hip while the other wraps around her waist, a look of reverence on his face.

Together, we claim our mate, making her shout her pleasure to the sky before we fill her with our combined release, his hot cum blending with mine.

When our muscles turn languid with pleasure, I roll us to our sides, hugging them both as tightly as I can. The cold ice calms my fevered heat. Damian and I are still hard, but we don’t push for more. For now, we’re content to just hold our mate, the woman we both thought we’d lost.

“This is perfect,” Kat whispers.

“It’s more than perfect,” I reply. “It’s fated. It was always meant to be like this.” I kiss her, slow and sweet. “I love you, beauty.” Then I lean over Kat’s shoulder and kiss Damian. “And I love you.”

“You stole my mate, Otto.” Though his words are sharp, there’s a touch of amusement in his tone.

“And then you gave her back to me. I was half in love with you before, but I don’t just love you, I owe you everything.

” When he kisses me there’s an edge of desperation to it.

Our cocks twitch against each other, still inside our mate.

Kat groans. Damian pulls back, looking me right in the eye.

“Thank you. I love you, too.” He says the words like he’s in a dream he’s afraid will slip through his fingers.

Kat tilts her head and kisses him, melting his tension. When they break apart, she sighs happily. “I’m saving it.” She snuggles her head against my chest and wiggles her ass against Damian. “If I say it now, you’ll just think I’m copying you.”

Damian and I laugh. Then he lifts her upper leg and thrusts into her while I pull out and kiss a trail down her body until my mouth is on her clit. We make her come again and again until she’s rambling an unending stream of confessions that sound a lot like love.
