Chapter Sixty

Jett

Iwas exhausted. I’d been with Evan and Riley until there’d clearly been an agency change. One that I was pretty sure was the Temporal Police. It was either them or the Agents in Glasses.

They’d separated me from Evan and Riley and asked me a bunch of questions. Quickly the agents realized that I wasn’t very interesting and left me alone. Now, I was in a small room with a recliner, a refrigerator, a magazine and book rack, and a tea and snack station.

Yeah, I was pretty sure they were holding me in the lactation room. The Bureau only had a very small set of offices here. Once in a while my work brought me here.

But, there was reading material and snacks. Evan seemed fine through the bond, though Brennan was agitated.

I looked through the packages of healthy snacks. A lactation cookie wasn’t going to hurt me, right?

Helping myself to two cookies and a cup of tea, I went back to the recliner wishing that I had my phone. But I didn’t, so I picked up the romance novel I’d started.

I could see why Grace liked romance novels. Also, it helped me keep my mind off the fact that we were being investigated by otherworldly police–and that I was separated from my pack.

What would our fate be? Hopefully, we’d just be let go.

The person I worried about most was Grace. Her brothers had somehow gotten here. Her mom might be alive.

Those brothers of hers had also shot me with some sort of freeze beam, though I was fine now. A little mad at myself that I’d gotten shot. But fine.

I was proud of Evan going off after Grace like that. I’d hate to think of what might have happened to her if he hadn’t.

Did he have to shoot out my tires? But whatever. Hopefully, the damage to my car and Brennan’s motorcycle was minimal.

At least Evan and Grace were okay. Riley had shown me the video someone had taken. While I knew Evan had been in the military, I didn’t realize he’d done cool shit like that. He and Wes didn’t talk about their time in the Army much beyond their relationship and Evan’s desk job.

Finally, the door opened.

“Hello.” The pale woman with the dark bun who stood there in front of me was probably not human.

“Hi.” I waved.

“The head of your family has requested you. You are a snack, yes?” she asked.

I had no idea what she was asking. Did she want to know if I’d had a snack? Needed a snack? Was she telling me that I was sexy?

“Um, yes?” What else did I say? I grabbed the book and stuffed some snacks in my pocket in case Brennan didn’t have any.

“Good. Please come.” The unnamed agent led me out of the room and down the hall.

She led me to a door and unlocked it. The room had a couple of couches and a small conference table.

“Here is your snack.” She pushed me into the room and left.

“Jett.” Brennan hugged me tightly.

“Hi, Honey. You asked for me?” I kissed him, happy to be with him, finally. I hadn’t seen him since the hospital.

His look went sheepish. “I asked for something to eat. The mini fridge has water and soda but no food.”

“Got it. She’s a vampire, and because I’m a beta, she thinks I’m your dinner. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen that movie.” I grinned. “Oh, maybe she wasn't a vampire? But I would think vampires would look like her. She’s not human, I’m sure.” That was what just happened, right?

Brennan thought for a moment. “I agree with that. Grace said there are lots of different people out there.”

“Good thing I have actual snacks.” I took them out of my pocket.

“Thank you. How did you get them?” He held one up to read the label.

“I was in the lactation room. It could be worse.” I plopped down on the couch. “What is going on? Have they told you anything?”

“They’ve told me a lot, and this is wild. I’m worried about Grace.” His brows furrowed as he ate a package of dried fruit.

With a sigh, he sat on the couch with me. He filled me in on how Rosalind was very much alive and part of a group of people across multiple worlds that were selling information and equipment to anyone who wanted it.

“That was what they stole from the vault? Inter-dimensional information?” I asked.

“Yes.”

“Shit. What are they going to do with Grace’s brothers and Rosalind? Us?” I went to the mini fridge and got some water.

“I think we’ll be okay.” His look went pensive. “Her brothers and Rosalind? I’m guessing the same thing will happen to them that happened to Nick.”

“Do you think we can punch Rosalind?” My fists thirsted for justice.

Brennan laughed. “Wes and Grace already did. Apparently, Grace got her right in the tits.”

Pride welled up inside me. “That’s my Babydoll.”

As he ate the rest of the snacks, Brennan told me everything he knew.

Finally, the door opened.

“Here’s some sustenance for the snack. Can we bring you the precious? She needs her leader.” Vampire lady came in and put three sandwiches and a cup of what could be coffee on the table.

“Thank you. Yes, you can bring Grace here. What of the others? Can you bring them here, as well?” Brennan asked.

The precious? But she was. I grabbed a sandwich and started eating.

“The big precious and the child are with the wellbeing assessor. Your child is quite rare. She would make a good agent,” vampire lady added. “One of your brothers is being moved to be with them. The older one is with Agent Cora.”

Okay, Wes was with Evan and Riley. Spencer was being questioned still. Precious must mean omega?

“Riley is pretty special. We’d like to be all together as soon as possible,” he remarked.

“Understandable. Your people are well.” With a nod, she left.

I tossed Brennan one of the sandwiches and took a sip of coffee. “Want some?”

“Sure.” Brennan took a sip.

I eyed the other sandwich. No. We’d wait and see if Grace was hungry.

A few moments later, the door opened. There stood a woman in a dress with a tote bag. Grace was with her.

“Here you go. You’ll be safe with them,” she assured Grace. “Have some snacks.” She put a handful of snacks on the conference table, along with a blanket.

“Thank you, Jira.” Grace ran right into my arms. “Jett.”

“I’ve got you, Babydoll.” I held her tight.

“If you need anything, just ask for me. I’ll remain here until you’re returned home.” Jira left, closing the door behind her.

“Hey, I have you,” I whispered to her as she whimpered. “You’re with Bren and me, and we have you.”

Brennan put the coffee on the table. “You’re okay. Do you want some food?”

Grace shook her head and went to him. “I had some already.”

Taking the last sandwich, I tore it in half and gave part of it to Brennan. I stuffed the other into my mouth.

“Are you sure?” Brennan asked, pulling her onto the couch.

“I’m fine.” She curled into his lap as he ate the rest of the sandwich.

No, she wasn’t fine. I could smell how out of sorts she was.

Grabbing the blanket, snacks, and coffee, I joined them on the couch. I put the blanket over her and set the coffee and snacks on the little end table.

She sniffed and settled into us, quickly falling asleep. We finished the snacks, coffee, and the rest of the waters from the fridge.

“Grace doesn’t smell good. I’m afraid she’s going to spiral.” Brennan stroked her hair.

A whine escaped her throat.

“What do you need, Babydoll?” I asked her. No, we didn’t need her spiraling.

“I want to go home and be knotted,” she whispered. Her scent had grown very sweet as she slept.

“You’re burning up, Little Butterfly,” Brennan said softly.

“Can we be all together? I want to be all together.” Her hand went down Brennan’s pants.

“We can make a big cuddle pile in the sunken living room if you just want to sleep,” I said. “If you want more than sleeping, I’m not sure, other than maybe going to the nest in the basement? That has an enormous bed.”

Brennan sucked in a breath. Yeah, she had her hand around his cock, didn’t she?

“I want to be fucked by everyone, a lot. Then I want crepes.” It looked like she was trying to get Brennan’s pants off.

“That sounds like a good plan. Do you need something now to feel better?” Grabbing the blanket, Brennan tried to put it between him and the couch.

Grace needed to be fucked. I could smell it.

I helped him get his pants off, her panties off, and put the blanket on the couch.

“There you go, let me fuck you so that you feel better,” Brennan told her, as he lowered her onto him. “When we go home, you can be fucked by anyone you want, as much as you’d like. Spencer will absolutely make crepes for breakfast.”

“Yes, please,” she moaned, as she moved up and down on him.

Sweetness continued to fill the room, almost cloying. Brennan’s eyes got a little glassy, his pheromones on full blast.

The door opened. Shit.

“Here is your brother. Oh, you’re just in time.” The vampire agent pushed Spencer in.

Spencer looked bewildered as the door closed behind us. I wasn’t sure Grace and Brennan even noticed.

“She’s not okay,” I murmured. Fuck. Had Spencer ever seen someone else having sex with Grace?

“No, she’s not. I’d rather have that than a spiral, given what’s happened tonight. We’ll just need to make sure that if it takes a turn for the worse, we get her to the hospital immediately."

Grace sighed and closed her eyes as she and Brennan clearly finished.

“What are you talking about?” I frowned at Spencer.

Spencer’s expression grew tense as his nostrils flared. “I think she might be going into heat.”
