Chapter 15

Flynn’s chest filled with warmth. He thinks I’m perfect.

“So, my place or yours? After here?”

“Bet your parking spots are full,” he said.

She shrugged. “That’s true.”

“Then mine it is.”

A thrill zinged through Flynn’s body. Never in a million years would she have expected this turn of events when she was getting ready to dance at the club on Saturday night.

“Then I guess I’m no-showing.”

He took her glass from her hand and set it on the table. “Are you gonna resent me for that?”

“Resent you? You didn’t decide anything for me. Besides, it’s not a tough choice. A year ago? Maybe. But less than forty-eight hours before my birthday … and the fact that it’s you? Come on. Easy pick.”

“Good, because I don’t want to fuck this up either. You’re different. Nothing like I thought. And I can’t believe I almost missed out.”

She could tell he meant it. It wasn’t like he really had to try to win her over after everything she’d told him.

“I’m really glad you had that dream,” she said quietly.

“Yeah, me too.”

“What … happened … in your dream?”

“I told you. I said I was taking you home … and you looked terrified.”

“Maybe if you’d said that to me last night.” Flynn couldn’t help but smile. “I mean, I don’t know that I would’ve been ready for that.”

“I’m not that kinda guy.”

“I’m starting to realize that. And tonight, I’m not terrified. Not even a little. Especially because of your rule. It takes the pressure off, really. There’s no wondering if that’s going to happen or not.”

Marcus’s nearly black gaze slid down her body and back up to her face.

“I didn’t say nothing would happen. Unless you don’t want anything to happen.”

The pressure between Flynn’s legs built, and she swallowed. “I definitely didn’t say that.”

“Fuck me. What am I getting myself into?” he said, more to himself than to her.

“I have no idea, but I’m pretty sure it’s going to be awesome.”

Marcus stood. “Fuck it, let’s go.”

Flynn shot to her feet as he held out a hand. “I thought you’d never ask.”

“Flynn …”

“Marcus …”

He shook his head. “You are something else.”

He gripped her hand, but Flynn needed no urging. She was going home with her fantasy Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome. It was totally worth no-showing.
