Chapter 26

The next morning, Flynn could tell she’d had sex. Her body told the story when she rolled from her belly to her side—and into Marcus’s morning wood. The twinge between her legs reminded her of exactly how delicious it had felt as he stretched her wide.

She was naked. So was he. His body was ready. And hers was sore.

“Good morning,” he whispered into her neck.

She turned to face him. His five-o’clock shadow had turned into short scruff overnight.

“Good morning.”

“You okay?”

Flynn wondered how he knew. Oh yeah, it wasn’t his first morning waking up with a huge dick.

“I could use a soak in a bathtub, if I’m being totally honest.”

His hand stroked down her hair. “I’ll get it going. Give me a few to get it ready for you.”

“Thank you.”

He pressed a kiss to her forehead. “Thank you.”

“For what?” she asked.

“Everything. Especially for not giving up hope.”

She smiled, and warmth flooded her from head to toe.

“Thanks for giving us a shot.”

“This is no longer us giving us a shot, Flynn. We’re doing this. You and me. For real. Okay?”

Could you die from happiness? Flynn wondered as her heart seemed to expand seven sizes beyond her body capacity.

“Okay.”

He kissed her again. “I’ll get your bath going.”

She watched him with extreme interest as he climbed out of bed and walked out of the bedroom, naked. He was permanently tan with his deep olive complexion, tatted up, and hung. It was an elephant trunk in the morning.

Goodness.

She heard the water come on and then the toilet flush. Figuring it was safe, she tiptoed down the hallway barefoot, hoping no one would peer in through his front window. Curtains. He needed curtains on that window.

She slipped into the bathroom and couldn’t help but admire his glorious manhood.

“Eyes are up here, sweetheart.”

Flynn’s gaze shot up to find him grinning.

“Cock-gazing?”

She felt her body heat with a blush from her nose to her toes. “Caught me.”

“Damn right I did.”

“What are you going to do about it?” She fell back on a touch of bravado.

“Nothin’. You’re sore. And I am not breaking the ride. Your bath is filling. I’ll grab you a fresh towel.”

He turned to the linen closet, found one, and hung it over the bar as Flynn marveled at him. He was a contradiction. So masculine and alpha, but so caring and thoughtful. She hadn’t even known such a combination was possible until now.

Steam rose from the tub, and Flynn watched him as he checked the water and adjusted the tap.

“Should be pretty good. Let me know if it’s too hot or too cold. Or I can get outta here and leave you to it.”

He rose to his full height, and Flynn touched his arm.

“Thank you. You’re incredibly kind and considerate.”

He gave her a half smile. “I’m the one who put the soreness there. It only seems fair that I help fix it.”

“Not just for this. But thank you for everything. I didn’t even know this was possible.”

“Me neither, Stiglette. But it feels pretty damn right to me.”

“Agreed.”

He leaned down and brushed his lips across her forehead.

“Glad we’re on the same page.” He nodded to the tub. “Hop in. Take your time. Enjoy your soak. I’ll be cleaning up the kitchen. You want breakfast?”

Her stomach sank. “Your dinner. Oh no.”

He shook his head with a grin. “Well worth the sacrifice. I’ll make it for you again, anytime.”

“You sure?”

“Hop in and enjoy. We’ll talk food later.”

She stuck her toes in the water to check the temperature. Perfect. She lowered herself into the avocado-green tub and held back a moan at how welcome the heat was against her tender flesh.

“You good?” he asked from the doorway.

“I’m great.”

He gave her a nod. “I’ll shut the door to keep the heat in.”

“Thank you.”

“My pleasure. And, Flynn?”

“Yeah?”

“Happy birthday.”

She melted into the tub as he smiled from the doorway.

“You remembered.”

“Of course.”

“Thank you,” she whispered. Charm really does run in the family.
