Chapter 32

When they were finally dressed and Marcus felt like his balls were drained dry from how many times he’d come, he stared at the woman sitting at his kitchen counter, wearing lounge pants and his Quinterro Scrap sweatshirt with the empty cake plate between them.

“What am I going to do with you? I need a nap already.” He looked at the clock. “I gotta be at the club in six hours. It’s Zoe’s night off.”

Flynn blushed, and he couldn’t believe she was still capable of it after the marathon they’d just had.

“Shit. Sorry. I can go. I can call for a ride back into the city. I didn’t mean to—”

He covered her hand with his. “I didn’t mean it like that.”

Her green eyes were piercing, and he never wanted to forget how she’d looked when she lost her mind in his arms.

“I know, but still. You’ve got a life, and I don’t want to get in the way.”

“You’re part of my life now. You could never get in the way.” He meant it too. It didn’t matter that it had only been days.

The orbit of his world had shifted, and Flynn Elliott had become the center of his universe.

It was a welcome change, and he was looking forward to the future in a way he hadn’t in years. Maybe ever.

“Still, you’ve got work to do. And I’ve got a few things to do too.” She glanced at her phone, and he knew instantly that she was referring to the voicemail from her mom.

“You want me to be around when you listen to it?”

Her eyes lifted to his once more. And she shook her head ever so slightly.

“I can handle it. I have my whole life.” She paused.

“She probably just called to tell me to call the financial adviser and the lawyer to deal with trust stuff so she doesn’t have to anymore.

I’m honestly surprised she remembered it was my birthday.

It’s not like she was calling to sing to me or something. ”

He squeezed her hand. “I’m here for it all, Stiglette. The good, the bad, the ugly. Not just the great sex.” He knew it would get a smile from her, and he was right.

“It really is great sex. I mean, the best I’ve ever had.”

“Glad to hear it.”

She took a deep breath and paused before letting it out. “We haven’t used a condom since the first time, and I’m not on anything.” She met his gaze. “I’m not trying to trap you. I know we joked about me getting knocked up, but that is not my intention. I swear.”

Marcus nodded. “I didn’t figure it was. And for the record, I’m not trying to knock you up and trap you either. That’s not how I want to keep you in my life and my bed.”

“Okay,” she breathed out. “Good that we have that clear. But … what if it happens?”

Marcus tilted his head to get a better look at her face as she studied the counter. “If what happens?”

Her green gaze shot up. “What if I get pregnant?”

He shrugged. “That just speeds the timeline up. I already know where I want this to lead. Whether we get there fast or slow is really up to you.”

“Really?”

He nodded. Might as well lay all the cards out on the table. “I’m falling in love with you, Flynn. Hard and fast.”

She pressed her lips together, and her eyes went glassy. “I never thought I’d hear you say that.”

“What? That I love you? I told you, baby, you’re easy to love.”

She hauled in a breath and shot up from the stool. In three steps, she was around the counter and in his arms. Exactly where she belonged.

He held her against him as she squeezed him tight.

“Best. Birthday. Ever,” she whispered.
