Drowned in the Name of Love (Piracy for Lovers #1)

The End
H ere I was, another starry night on the shores of Tidia, defying the law for the sake of simply experiencing this feeling. Splashes of foam from the breaking waves caressing my face, and my loose hair dancing freely to the sound of the sea breeze.
I took a deep breath, noticing how the salty air slowly filled every part of me. It was as if I had been asleep for years, and my blood reacted, causing my entire body to suddenly wake up, screaming, “GO LIVE!”
I looked down at my bare feet, the wet rock beneath them—the same one where the Law of No Seas had been hand-sculpted fifteen years ago. No ship, unless royal, could enter or leave port.
Next to me, on a larger rock, the Law of No Waters was etched in the form of a scroll. No member of the court could set foot on the shore without prior permission from The King. It was this that forced me to live like a criminal in my own land, just for wanting to feel this every night, just for wanting to dip my feet in the salt water.
Just for waiting on the shore, waiting and waiting every night, for a ship to appear on the horizon. Waiting for something, anything . Everything.
And all of that would end.
The salt water on my bare feet, the breeze in my hair, the foam of the waves on my face, the moon reflected on the sea—the anticipation of waiting for something, a purpose, a story to tell… a story to live.
All of it would end for me.
Tomorrow.
“May the Gods free me.”
