Chapter Twenty-Two #2

“Yeah,” Rosie answered. “People come here to worship, then there are adventurers coming here for class stuff, a lot of adventurers also come here to get blessed before heading out, then there are the people who need healing and would rather come here than go to a private healer, and then there’s all the girls who just kind of…

hang around to watch adventurers come and go, waiting to see if anyone will pick an interesting class and stuff. ”

“I see.” I also saw that, just like in the game, even the nuns who were on duty at the cathedral were dressed in ways that emphasized their breasts. Their outfits were like totally normal nun outfits except for hugging their waists extra tight while leaving their cleavage out in one way or another.

The way they showed their boobs off was even related to the structure of the religion, as I found out through the game’s worldbuilding.

At the bottom of the hierarchy were basic nuns who showed off cleavage the normal way.

Above them were novitiates who covered up their cleavage to instead show off side boob, causing them to almost look like they were wearing aprons rather than whatever their dresses were called again.

Then above them were the sisters who showed no cleavage nor side boob, but had holes cut out right at the entrance to their under boob.

I sure wondered what Seth was thinking of doing with those holes when he designed them that way.

Beyond sisters, the ranks showed more and more skin, such as showing off thighs and legs, their arms, and so on, until the highest ranked members of the churches looked more like slutty cosplayers than holy worshippers.

Oh, and there was a pope, a male one which came as a huge surprise to me given how the world was, but he never showed up in the game and wasn’t really relevant in any way.

All I knew about him was that he existed and that basically all the highest-ranking members of the religion were in his harem.

There was even one line of dialogue in the game that implied he had the largest harem in the world, technically numbering in the thousands.

I wondered what kind of man he was.

It was probably all those little bits of random worldbuilding he tossed in here and there, that had absolutely no impact on the game itself, that resulted in the world being the way that it was.

Just how many of those tiny little lore drops Seth randomly spread through the game would have impacts I had no idea about?

“Welcome,” the two nuns at the entrance to the cathedral said in unison once we reached the front of the line. They were pretty nice to look at, but what they really accomplished was making me want to see my girls dressed up as nuns. Mainly Rosie and Stella.

“Oh my, a man,” the nun on the left said, hand on her cheek. “That makes the second one to grace us in recent days.”

Considering that Seraphina could be recruited at this very same cathedral after getting your health dropped below 20% at any point, the other guy was most likely that bastard.

“Do not let your eyes wander,” the nun on the right told the one on the left.

“Of course!” the other replied. “I am merely stating a fact. It would be improper to have eyes for another man now that one has blessed us with his body.”

I had… a bit of a bad feeling about that.

Their choice of words clearly implied that they only recently found a man who had “blessed them” with his body, at the same time there’s a guy going around taking other girls who were characters in the game, including Seraphina?

Walking into the church confirmed my suspicions.

Most of the girls who weren’t members of the church looked at me and whispered their usual things, but all the nuns seemed totally disinterested. One of them even asked a fellow nun, “Do you think we should buy new underwear for the next time Thor visits?”

… Thor?

Did this guy seriously name himself Thor?

“Jesus Christ,” I whispered under my breath.

“What was that?” Rosie asked.

“Mm, Master said cheesus christ,” Lupa answered.

“I don’t think he said cheesus.”

“Rosie… aren’t I good enough for you to let me dream?”

Lupa was far too effective at targeting us with her cuteness.

Rosie started petting Lupa in front of everyone while saying, “You’re such a good girl, Lupa. But he still didn’t say cheesus.”

“Mm… at least I get pats,” Lupa said, nuzzling up against Rosie’s hand.

I’d explain to them the cringe of a man naming himself Thor later.

Sure, my name wasn’t that much better in the cringe department.

It was just a shortened version of my original handle I used for gaming online, xxSeventhSwordxx.

I was a teen the first time I used that.

Then it got shortened to Seven around the time I became an adult, and then it got shortened again to Sev since people I talked to were too lazy to type out Seven every time.

Did its origin make me cringe? Yes. Was it as bad as unironically naming myself Thor? No way.

And if it was the guy who I thought it was, then… man. The name he went by online, “Dungeon God,” was already cringe enough.

Anyways.

The main hall of the cathedral was reserved for worship and adventurers receiving blessings.

We had to make our way to the right wing of the cathedral where there was another line and a whole crowd of observers.

Watching adventurers come here to pick classes was a pretty popular pastime, apparently.

Lupa also did her best to keep all non-nuns away from me. Though, with just how high the humidity was, even she was struggling to intimidate everyone into submission.

But humidity aside, we got in line with Rosie in front and Lupa behind me.

The line proceeded pretty smoothly, though there were a couple of girls who got stuck on deciding their classes.

Part of me was really tempted to help them out with theorycrafting, but…

I resisted since I didn’t feel like getting swarmed by every girl around when they were already on edge.

They weren’t the only ones on edge, either.

I couldn’t shake the weird feeling I had in my gut.

If every nun in the church was already obsessed with whoever this Thor guy was, who else in the city was already wrapped around his finger, and to what extent did he plan on gathering girls for his harem?

He was probably enjoying this world in the way that most men from Earth would. He was happy to take advantage of how easy and desperate the women were.

I had four girls without even trying to in just a week. How many girls could someone who wanted to spend all day having sex go through in that same amount of time if they actually tried?

“I’m up!” Rosie said. “Alright, let’s see!”

It was finally Rosie’s turn to pick a class.

At the front of the line, now in front of Rosie, was an orb on a pedestal that featured a system screen floating above it. A list of every class she was able to choose popped up as soon as she placed her hand on the orb.

“That’s—that’s more than I thought I’d see,” Rosie said. “But… oh, there! Juggernaut!”

“You sure that’s what you want?” I asked.

Rosie nodded with a bright smile. “It’s the build we decided on together, plus it sounds cool… ignoring what it was called in your world, plus I didn’t buy that hammer and get those kills for nothing, so I’m sure!”

“Then you know what to do.”

With another nod, Rosie turned back around, selected Juggernaut, and confirmed her choice.

The status screen displayed her choice for everyone to see.

[Class Acquired: Juggernaut]

//Juggernaut

//Class Type: Base

//Main Attribute: Strength

//Secondary Attribute: Vitality

//Juggernauts are unstoppable beasts who rampage across the battlefield while effortlessly wielding weapons most would struggle to ever get off the ground, and the only way to stop a Juggernaut’s rampage is death.

Gain an additional 2 Strength and 1 Vitality per level.

Martial Skills that scale using Strength have improved scaling.

You may now wield two-handed weapons with only one hand.

Lose 30% Critical Chance, but gain 15% increased Damage with all attacks and Skills while wielding at least one two-handed weapon.

[A new Skill has been acquired for becoming a Juggernaut.]

//Rampage

//Type: Martial (Juggernaut | Active)

//Stat: Strength

//Cooldown: 600 seconds

//Rampage across the battlefield in a state of pure rage for 15 seconds.

During this time, you will not have control over which enemy you attack and will not care about avoiding attacks, but you will deal additional Damage scaling with your Strength while taking 15% less Damage. Current Bonus: 32.5%

There were already whispers about Rosie from girls degrading her looks and talking about how the class was fitting for a “cow,” but that didn’t stop Rosie from turning around with a huge smile to hug me in front of everyone.

The Rosie from before would have felt nervous and been afraid of ruining my reputation by hanging around me. She was willing to put distance between us for my sake.

The Rosie now gladly clung to me, wrapping her arms around my neck, as she hopped up and down with pure joy. “I did it!”

“You did,” I said, hugging her back, further putting the other women around in their place. “Great job, Rosie.” I kissed her forehead after that.

Rosie couldn’t stop grinning and giggling once I did.

“Rosie, good job,” Lupa said.

“Thanks! You want to go next since I don’t feel like letting go of Sev?” Rosie asked Lupa.

“Mm. Okay.”

With that, Lupa walked up to the orb, placed her hand against it, and didn’t hesitate at all to select Duelist as soon as she saw it.

[Class Acquired: Duelist]

//Duelist

//Class Type: Base

//Main Attribute: Dexterity

//Secondary Attribute: Luck

//To challenge a Duelist to a one-on-one fight is to resign yourself to death. These masters of dueling can only be fairly defeated by those with equal skill.

Gain an additional 2 Dexterity and 1 Luck per level.

Martial Skills that scale using Dexterity have improved scaling.
