Chapter 3
Gone?
Sean
“What have you done, you idiot?” Lily growls as she storms her way into my room.
“What the fuck are you going on about?” I grumble as I scroll through the group chat with my boys.
They’re still pissed off about last night. Grant and Tim ended up at the hospital. Devin needed to go too, if you ask me, but his pride wouldn’t allow him to.
He’ll have to suck that shit up from the looks of it. I think Cee-Cee broke his jaw. She did break Grant’s collarbone and nose. Tim will be nursing his balls, a broken leg, shattered ribs and wrist for the next few months.
For a tiny thing, she hits hard. Always has. She’s also strong as fuck. I thought getting Amy to spray that shit on her would have worked.
The only thing I can come up with is that Amy didn’t do it right; her stupid ass fucked it up somehow. Cee-Cee didn’t look like she was fazed at all. From the job she did on my boys, I’m sure Amy fucked that shit up.
“I’m talking about Cee-Cee. Dad just asked me to come up and see why she and Ciarán aren’t down at breakfast yet. Guess why, asshat?” Lily says, lowering her voice.
“How the fuck should I know? What? The shower doesn’t have any more hot water left?”
“No, fuckface. I heard about last night. What were you thinking? Do you even understand why she’s so important around here?”
“No.”
Lily groans and rolls her eyes. “You and I have the best of everything because of those two brats.”
“So. What’s the problem?”
“They’re gone. I went to their room and all their shit is gone,” she hisses.
“She’s just a little cunt. I thought you’d be happy to get her out of the way.”
“Don’t try to put this one on me, you scumbag. This was all you. You’ve been trying to fuck her for years.
“Which is crazy. You have a girlfriend. Amy is too good for you.”
I stand and storm across the room. I glare at my sister as she narrows her eyes at me. I’m still letting her words sink in. Cee-Cee is gone?
“If she’s gone, it has nothing to do with me. Keep Amy out of this.”
“Are you mental? You put her in the middle of this. How do you think I know about last night? She called me in a panic because she knew you were trying to drug Cee-Cee.
“If she tells anyone about this, your ass will be behind bars, you idiot. You only ever think about yourself. You’re gonna get Dad killed and your junkie ass couldn’t care less.”
“I’m not a junkie.”
“The fuck you aren’t. You push more roids than Big Pham. You’re one test away from being banned from fighting.
“My brother, the brother I know wouldn’t have gone off the deep end because his stepsister finally agreed to a date with someone else. You were going to have her raped, Sean. Does that sound right to you?”
“I wasn’t trying to have her raped. I wanted them to slow her down for you, so you could win the tournament. You’re not getting any younger, you know. I was thinking of you.”
“That’s bullshit and you know it. I work hard for my spot. Cee-Cee or not, I earn my way, you pig.
“You went too far this time, Sean. You have no idea what this could cost us. You better pray she doesn’t turn up anywhere she isn’t meant to be. Oh, and hope to God Dad doesn’t lose his shit on you for this.”
“Fuck. Whatever. I’ll find the brats and fix this.”
“Something tells me you’re already too late. You took sibling rivalry to the extreme. I’m going to the gym.”
“Really? You’re going to leave me holding my dick on this shit?”
“You made your bed. Besides, looks like I’m going to have to lead us to the championship and the purse. You just fucked us all over. In more ways than one,” she snaps at me.
A Friend
A groan leaves my lips as I sit up and look around. My phone is ringing, that’s what has woken me from my nap. I’m getting old.
Naps are welcome when they find me. These old bones have been telling a tale lately. If I could turn back time …
I snort and shake my thoughts off as I answer the call. “I’m listening.”
“She’s gone. She took the kid and ran.”
“What do you mean?”
“That asshole tried to drug her and have her raped. I guess she’s fed up.”
“Can you still track her?”
“Yes, she seems to still have the AirTag on her.”
“Good.”
“What should I do next? I don’t think I should go after her; I could be followed, or I could blow my cover. If I do, you won’t be able to use me anymore.”
“Send me the serial number of the tracker. I will handle it. For now, stay with your assignment.”
I hang up and dial in to give an update on what’s going on. The feeling in my gut tells me things are about to change in a big way.
“Hello,” the man on the other end of the call answers.
“The hidden package is on the move,” I say into the phone.
“Fuck, you have to be kidding me. There’s too much shit going on right now,” he replies and sighs.
Moving away from the phone, he says something to someone in the background in Italian. I catch only pieces of what is said. I’m already in motion to pack my things to be on the move if necessary.
“What do you need from me?” I ask.
“No package, no deal. She’s the only thing bridging this gap right now. We need them at the table. All three are important to them, but she’s the key.
“Fuck, Logan would want to keep them all safe. Make sure your guys stay on top of this, but all of you need to remain hidden. It is imperative your connection isn’t revealed.
“They can’t know we’ve been watching or how far our reach goes. Not yet. Keep me posted if anything else changes.”
I nod as if he can see me. I’m much older than this young man, but the two titans of the underground world have my respect and attention. When my best friend’s life was taken, I vowed to do everything in my power to help them and their cause.
“My niece is going to stay on top of the canary. I’ll handle the treasure.”
“I might have something else for you. Be ready to head back to Ireland if I call.”
“I’m always ready. A hui hou, my young friend.”
“A hui hou, old friend. Ci rivedremo,” he replies before repeating the words in Italian.
