Chapter Eighteen
Maddy
“Let’s eat breakfast before I have to leave,” Bitsy says as I sit down on one of the couches. “What do we have here?”
“Nothing much,” Sophia announces from the small kitchen area. “There’s a few pieces of leftover ribs and two beers.”
“Alright you three, let’s go,” Knox says. “Colt, tell the guys we went to pick up breakfast. We’ll be back in thirty minutes.”
“Whose car are we taking? I rode my bike here.”
“I rode with King,” I announce.
“My car has been here for a few days but the back is loaded with some supplies that I need to take to UNITY later,” Sophie says, grabbing her purse.
“My car it is,” Knox says.
“Maybe you should wait for them to finish up their meeting,” Colt suggests. “It shouldn’t be much longer.”
“Viper and I have to leave in an hour if we’re going to make it to my parents in time,” Bitsy says. “I don’t have time to wait for them to finish. We’ll be back.”
“Knox,” Colt tries again. “You know how the twins get when you leave without telling them.”
“We’re leaving right now, Colt,” Knox says. “But, if you want to go ahead and barge into their meeting to let them know I’m leaving, I’ll wait.”
I turn and head towards the front door so Colt doesn’t see my smirk. I may not be part of a biker club but all of my friends are. Interrupting a meeting for anything less than an emergency is a quick way to get put back on the Prospect level.
“That’s what I thought,” Knox says. “We’ll be back. Let’s go ladies.”
“Shotgun,” I call out.
We head to Sunny Side Bites. It’s only a fifteen-minute drive and serves the best breakfast in all of Harborbrook.
“It would have been cheaper if we just bought the groceries and cooked it,” I say as we wait for the order to be made.
“Yeah, but this way we don’t have to clean up,” Knox says. “Besides, from the look in Bitsy’s eyes, I don’t think she would have survived a trip to the grocery store and back. She’s starving.”
I look over and laugh as I watch the tiny woman eat a muffin in less than a minute.
“These are so good,” she mumbles around her mouth full of food.
“Obsidian,” is called from the front of the diner. “Would you like some boxes to carry all of this in?”
Container after container of food is placed on the counter and I once again find myself laughing.
“Yes, please,” Knox blushes.
“Who wants to sit up front on the way back?” I ask as I pull out my phone. It’s vibrated twice in as many seconds. “Uh oh. We’re in trouble.”
Turning the phone, I let my friends read the message.
“You’re in trouble, baby.”
“Uh oh,” Knox says, much more forlorn than the way I said it.
Turning his phone I can understand.
“Little boy, you know we fucking hate it when you leave without telling us where you’re going. Get your ass back here. I’m half tempted to toss the damn rules out the window and turn your ass red before letting Blaze take his turn.”
“Oh my. What rules is he talking about?” I ask.
“Unless they’re in a scene with someone or are in a relationship with the person, they don’t spank them,” Knox says, his eyes wide. “Spanking, even the not fun kind, is very intimate. Spanking a Little is even more so.”
“This is something you agree to?” I ask, shocked to my very core.
I know he’s a Little but I didn’t know that spankings were part of that as punishments.
“Yeah,” he sighs. “Well, it will be something I agree to when I find my Daddy Dom one day. While Blaze and Steel are Dom’s and I respect and trust that dynamic between us they’re not my Daddy Dom’s and they respect that as well. That doesn’t mean they won’t try and ground me though.”
With a resounding sigh, he types away on his phone.
“We’re about to head back. We have breakfast.”
I hit send and pocket my phone.
“I’ll sit up front,” Bitsy says. “Sophie and Maddy, climb in the back and we’ll start handing you food.”
By the time all of the food is loaded up, Sophie and I each have a huge box on our laps with another between us and Bitsy is up front with a couple more bags filled with cutlery and plates.
“I can’t get to my belt,” I say as I try and move the box.
“Neither can I,” Sophie says. “Luckily the clubhouse is only a fifteen-minute drive.”
“Well, the guys might not even notice you two without belts because of the boxes, but they sure will notice if we don’t have them on. Buckle up, Bitsy.”
“I don’t understand their overwhelming need to keep us safe,” she complains. “They do know that I own a motorcycle, right?”
“And they’re more than aware that you speed on it as well,” Sophie laughs.
We hear multiple buzzes as our phones receive messages but none of us can get to them which causes us all to laugh.
In the past day alone, I’ve laughed more times than I have in years. I feel like I was meant to be part of this family.
King’s smile flashes behind my eyes and my heart skips a beat.
“I’m in love with King,” I admit out loud.
“We know,” they all say simultaneously.
I open my mouth to call them all punks when we’re suddenly hit from the side. The boxes fly around as the car flips over and over. I’m thrown against Sophie seconds before gravity turns and Sophie and the boxes fall on me. None of us make a sound as the air from our bodies leaves us with each flip. Over and over, we’re jostled around the car before it finally stops and I’m thrown down one last time.
Everything hurts. My head is ringing and I can’t hear the sounds around me for several seconds.
“Fast,” I hear Knox say. “Need to think fast.”
“Is everyone okay?” I hear Bitsy ask. I look towards the front of the car and that’s when I notice that we’re upside down. Sophia and I are on the roof of the car but Bitsy and Knox are dangling from their seat belts.
“Someone’s coming,” Sophie says as voices get louder.
“They hit us on purpose,” Knox says. “I saw them speed up the second they saw my car. I’m calling Steel. Try and make some noise to mask my voice.”
“Help,” I scream. “Someone please help us.”
“We’re trapped,” Bitsy calls out.
“Call an ambulance,” Sophie shouts.
We continue to yell as Knox fumbles with his phone.
“Don’t talk and just listen. We were hit,” I hear him whisper. “It was a black SUV but everything happened so fast that I didn’t get any other detail. We’re only ten minutes away but someone is coming. You won’t make it. This was intentional and I don’t know what’s about to happen. Bitsy and Sophie are wearing the necklaces.”
“What are we going to do with the other ones?” someone from outside the car asks.
“Just take them all,” another voice answers.
“They’re here and they’re taking us all,” Knox says so fast that I almost miss it. “We’ll be smart. Just find us. Please, Steel, please, find us. I’m putting my phone on silent and will leave it connected for as long as I can hide it. I have my backup phone in my back pocket that I can use as a decoy if they ask for them.”
“Give it to me,” I whisper. “I’ll hand them my phone if they ask and keep this one in my bra.”
Knox drops the phone into my hand and I twist my body and tuck it in my bra where it won’t be noticed. For the first time in my life, I’m thankful for being such a big girl.
“Knock them out,” someone says.
“Hold your breath,” Knox whispers so quietly that I almost miss it.
Seconds later, the car is filled with gas.
