Chapter 25

Chapter Twenty-Five

Harrison

So far, today proved to be a good day except for all that bullshit Adalyn spewed at breakfast. But I made it clear to her where I stood as far as love and relationships were concerned. I walked over to my bar and poured myself a drink. Oh, shit! I quickly picked up my phone and sent Adalyn a text message.

“A bar. Did you include a bar?”

“Huh?”

“A bar! Did you include a bar in the remodel? I can’t remember if I gave you the drawing with it on there.”

“Yes, Harrison. I’ve included a bar. You didn’t give me the drawing, but I knew you couldn’t live without one, so I took care of it. In fact, there are four bars throughout the house.”

“Thank you, Adalyn. But I don’t think four bars is necessary.”

“You’re welcome. Trust me. You’ll be thanking me.”

I let out a sigh of relief as I set my phone down, took a quick shower, and got ready to meet my buddies from college at the bar.

“Harrison, over here.” My buddy, John, waved at me from across the bar. “How are you, buddy?”

“I’m good. How are you?” I hugged him.

“Doing well. No complaints.”

“Harrison, my man.” Gerard smiled as we bro hugged. “It’s been a while.”

The three of us took a seat at a table that opened up shortly after I arrived.

“What can I get you?” The blonde waitress in the short black skirt, tight white t-shirt, and big tits asked.

“I’ll have a scotch. Make it a double.”

“Coming right up.” She winked at me.

“So, what’s been going on with you two?” I asked.

“I did it. I asked Celina to marry me.” John smiled.

“And she said yes?”

He picked up a peanut from the bowl sitting on the table and threw it at me.

“She loves me and my big cock.”

“What about you, Gerard?” I arched my brow at him.

“I’ve met someone special. She’s gorgeous and out of this world.”

“She’s his secretary.” John laughed.

“Really? Your secretary?”

“Hey, man. You can’t help whom you fall in love with. When the right girl appears, you know it. You feel it down deep in the core of your soul.”

“How about you, Harrison? Who’s the special girl in your life?”

“No one. I’m living the single dream, boys. Sex when I want it, no strings, no complications, nothing.”

The waitress walked over and sat my drink down in front of me.

“Can I get you handsome men a refill?” she asked John and Gerard.

“Dude, you’re thirty years old. Are you planning on being a bachelor for the rest of your life?” Gerard asked.

“Yeah. I am.”

“Don’t you remember he never dated a girl in college more than twice? Unless she was smoking hot. Then she got a third date.” John smiled.

“It’s still that way.” I smirked before throwing back my drink.

“Hey, speaking of smoking hot chicks, how’s that twin sister of yours?” Gerard asked.

“She’s good. But she’s off limits.” I pointed at both of them.

“Bro, we know. She’s been off limits since freshman year.”

We ordered some nachos, and more drinks, kicked back, and had a few laughs.

“Damn, Harrison, speaking of your sister, there she is,” John said.

“Whoa. Who’s the sexy as fuck woman with her?” Gerard asked.

I looked over and saw Athena, Adalyn, that Pete guy, and some other guys taking a seat at a table.

“What the fuck?”

“What’s wrong?” John asked.

“Nothing.”

“Bro, those don’t look like the kind of guys your sister would hang out with,” Gerard said.

“Tell me about it.”

“And that friend of hers. Damn!”

“Aren’t you supposed to be engaged?” I said to John.

“I can still look.”

“That hot chick is my interior designer. She’s doing my townhouse.”

“And from what I can tell by the look on your face, she’s doing you too.” Gerard laughed.

I got up from my seat, grabbed my drink, and walked over to where they sat.

“Harrison, what are you doing here?” Athena asked.

“Meeting two of my buddies from college.” I pointed to the table.

“Oh.” Athena seemed nervous.

“Adalyn.” I nodded.

“Hi, Harrison. Weird running into you here.”

“Hey, Mr. Grant. Come join us,” Pete said.

“I just came over to say hi. I need to get back to my friends. Your first round of drinks is on me. We’ll talk about what you’re doing later,” I whispered in Athena’s ear.

I returned to my table and signaled the waitress to bring me another drink.

“Here you go, handsome.” She smiled.

“See that table with the two women and a group of guys over there?”

“Yeah.”

“Send them a round of drinks on me.”

I sat there and stared at Adalyn as she laughed and appeared to be having a great time. When she got up to use the ladies’ room, I followed her and stood outside the door.

“Harrison, you scared me,” she spoke as she walked out of the bathroom. “Why are you standing there?”

“Waiting for you. Don’t you think it’s a little weird that you’re partying with my contractors? You don’t know these guys, Adalyn.”

“No. It’s not weird. I’m with these guys every day. They’re very nice. Just because they’re out of your class, Harrison, doesn’t mean they’re bad people.” She began to walk away.

I grabbed her arm lightly, and she turned and looked at me. Our eyes locked on each other’s, and I let go of her.

“Enjoy your evening with your friends, Harrison,” she spoke before walking away.
