CHAPTER 12

Lucian never expected that he would find the perfect omega for himself, not after everything he had been through. All he wanted was a peaceful life after surviving so much.

That was why he never let any omega come near him again. Most were afraid of him. Some tried to seduce him, and others went to extreme lengths to get his attention. His hatred for omegas only grew stronger.

His real name wasn’t Lucian. It was Rikuya, Kurosawa Rikuya. His father was originally from J Country and had come from a yakuza family. That was why Lucian had two names: his English name, Lucian Moreau, and his real name, Kurosawa Rikuya.

Only a few people knew this. As he grew up, he realized their family was different, because they were yakuza.

That was why they moved to another country. But even after all of that, he still became one himself, just like his father.

Now, Lucian handled their entire organization. He had always thought he would remain single for life. His world was too dangerous. He didn’t want to drag anyone else into it or put someone’s life in danger because of him.

So he rejected every blind date his mother arranged. But then she said something surprising: this time, the omega she had chosen also refused to meet him.

It was the first time someone had ever said no to him. Usually, when people discovered he was a dominant alpha, they went crazy just for a chance to meet him.

That was why Lucian found this omega intriguing. His mother even told him the omega was an elite omega, different from ordinary ones, one of the rarest of the rare.

Still, he didn’t care. His mother kept trying to arrange another meeting, but the omega kept refusing to come.

And now, Lucian actually wanted to see him. It was a new feeling for him, someone rejecting him directly. He wanted to see what kind of face that person had, what kind of omega could say no to him. It wasn’t that he wanted to judge him, but curiosity burned inside him.

When he asked his mother to show him a photo, she refused, telling him he would have to meet the omega in person and see for himself.

Lucian sighed. The omega wasn’t even willing to attend the blind date, so how was he supposed to meet him?

But then, one night when he came home, his mother said the omega had finally agreed to go on the blind date, with him. She told him he could decide the meeting place.

For the first time in a long while, Lucian felt a strange excitement in his heart. He told her to arrange the meeting at one of his hotels.

His heart throbbed oddly every time he thought about meeting him the next day. He didn’t know why.

The next day, after preparing everything, Lucian had his personal assistant waiting at the hotel to welcome Rayne.

He knew who Rayne was, his mother’s best friend’s son, but he hadn’t looked him up. He wanted to meet him genuinely, face-to-face, on that blind date.

When Lucian got the news that Rayne was coming, he left home early. But when he stopped at a flower shop, he realized he didn’t know which bouquet to get.

After wasting nearly twenty minutes there, he left empty-handed. None of the flowers felt right. Just then, he received a message from his assistant saying Rayne had already arrived.

Without wasting another second, he drove straight to the hotel.

The first thing he noticed upon entering was an alpha sitting alone in the lounge, looking completely broken, as if his whole world had fallen apart.

The alpha had brown hair, brown eyes, and a lost, teary gaze.

Lucian didn’t know what had happened to him or why he was sitting there alone like that.

Normally, no one came to dine alone in his hotel, so he found it strange.

Still, he brushed it off and continued toward the VIP room.

But the moment he stepped inside, he saw an angel.

No—he wasn’t an angel. He was a fairy.

Rayne was breathtakingly beautiful. His soft blonde hair, clear blue eyes, and delicate face looked too pure, almost unreal.

Lucian had never seen an omega this beautiful in his life. It was the first time someone’s beauty made his heart stop. Rayne was small, his legs not even touching the floor as he sat back in the chair.

Indeed, elite omegas were different. His milk-candy-like pheromones filled the air, wrapping around Lucian and calming him in a way he had never experienced before. For the first time, an omega’s scent didn’t irritate him, it soothed him.

And in that moment, Lucian knew he wanted to make that omega his.

Just one look at him and his heart went wild. Something strange was happening to him. It felt like he might have a heart attack.

This had never happened before, not even with him. Back then, Lucian had never felt anything like this. But with Rayne… everything was different.

Then he learned Rayne already had a boyfriend, and that Rayne didn’t want to marry him. Honestly, Lucian was shocked.

He thought Rayne would at least be a little attracted to him, maybe impressed by his looks or presence, but he wasn’t. Still, Lucian didn’t force him. When they finished the meeting and were about to leave, Rayne suddenly said he needed to use the restroom.

And there was no way Lucian was letting such a delicate, beautiful omega wander around alone, so he followed him.

Rayne was so short, his height only reached Lucian’s chest. Lucian once read somewhere that couples with big height differences were meant to stay together, that no one could separate them.

But when they stepped inside the restroom, Lucian froze.

Rayne’s boyfriend was there, the same alpha Lucian had seen earlier, crying alone.

Something felt off for Lucian. At first, he didn’t even realize that the alpha in the restroom was Rayne’s boyfriend. He thought they were… doing something inappropriate.

So he shouted at both of them, because this wasn’t a motel; it was his hotel.

But when Rayne told him who they were, he was stunned.

Lucian took Rayne out of there himself. Rayne clung to him tightly, and honestly, that alone was enough to give Lucian hope. He knew Rayne was heartbroken, but for him, that was an opportunity.

Maybe, just maybe, he could become the one for Rayne.

When Rayne told him everything in the car and started crying, Lucian couldn’t stop himself from asking if he wanted a hug.

He fully expected Rayne to refuse, but he didn’t. Rayne wrapped his arms around him and hugged him.

Lucian’s breath caught when Rayne’s body touched his. That was the moment he saved his number in Rayne’s phone, and Rayne’s number in his, as “wife.”

He didn’t know what Rayne’s answer would be, but when Rayne finally agreed to marry him, Lucian was overjoyed. Rayne was finally going to be his.

After months of waiting, they finally got married. Lucian couldn’t stop his mind from running wild.

Now that Rayne was his wife, every part of him wanted to claim him, to make him his in every way.

His thoughts were filled with Rayne. He wanted to hear the omega’s sweet voice crying beneath him, begging him to stop.

But Lucian knew if he went to Rayne that night, he wouldn’t be able to control himself.

And what if Rayne got pregnant? He was still so young, with his whole life ahead of him.

If Rayne became pregnant, he’d be tied down with responsibilities and pain he didn’t deserve. Lucian had heard stories, some omegas didn’t survive childbirth because the pain was too much.

Rayne was so small and fragile… Lucian couldn’t let him go through that kind of suffering.

So instead of going to him on their wedding night, Lucian pretended he had an important meeting.

When he called his mother to explain, she believed him immediately. He ended up spending the night in his car, trying to calm his mind.

The next morning, when he returned home, he saw Rayne sleeping in his bed.

Just seeing Rayne under his blanket, hair spread across the pillow, made Lucian’s heart race. He wanted to kiss him right then and there.

But he realized he hadn’t bathed, he probably smelled terrible. So he quickly went to the bathroom to shower.

While the water ran, he tried to calm himself down. He decided he would tell Rayne they couldn’t have children, that it was too dangerous for him.

However, when he came out, Rayne was already awake and angry. Rayne smacked him and scolded him.

Lucian didn’t even get the chance to tell him what he had decided. Instead, he ended up saying something else… something that unintentionally hurt Rayne.

He noticed Rayne’s expression change. He looked sad. Lucian hadn’t meant to upset him, and as soon as they got back home, he apologized. He couldn’t stand seeing Rayne’s face downcast.

Rayne looked too beautiful when he smiled, and Lucian always wanted to see that smile.

Later, he found out Rayne loved dogs. Luckily, Lucian already had Goldie, and Rayne instantly adored him.

Seeing them together made Lucian feel warm inside. It finally felt like a family.

He also discovered Rayne had a deadly allergy to mushrooms. Even though mushrooms were Lucian’s favorite food, he decided he would never eat them again. Rayne’s life mattered more than any food in the world.

Lucian was happy that he was getting to know more about Rayne. And now that they were living together, it felt like a dream. Just the thought that Rayne and he were under the same roof was enough for him.

The next morning, when Lucian was about to leave for work as usual, he saw Rayne standing there. Just seeing Rayne first thing in the morning made him so happy—it felt like the perfect start to his day.

Rayne walked up to him and began helping him tie his tie. For a moment, the scene looked so domestic, so peaceful, like a perfect married couple. The husband getting ready for work while the wife fixed his tie.

Lucian wanted to pull Rayne into his arms and hug him tightly, but he stopped himself. He didn’t want to scare him or make him uncomfortable.

Later, when Lucian went to work, he had to meet a client, an omega. Even though he usually avoided omegas, business was business, so he couldn’t refuse.

He chose a restaurant right across from Rayne’s company. He felt strangely comforted knowing Rayne was nearby.

But to his surprise, Rayne came to the same restaurant, with an alpha.

Lucian wanted to ask who he was, but when Rayne saw him and quickly turned away, pretending not to know him, Lucian froze. Rayne didn’t want the alpha to know about him.

That hurt. It felt like a knife twisting in his chest.

Still, he forced himself to stay calm. Later, he found out the alpha was just Rayne’s secretary, and he felt a wave of relief.

Maybe he had just been jealous. Seeing Rayne with another alpha made his blood boil, but maybe Rayne didn’t feel anything at all when he saw him with another omega.

Then, when Rayne lifted his spoon to drink the soup, Lucian suddenly caught a familiar scent, mushrooms. His heart jumped in panic. He reached out and grabbed Rayne’s hand before he could eat it.

He got angry, angry because he was scared. Angry because he cared too much and didn’t know how to show it.

It wasn’t just the secretary’s fault; it was Rayne’s too. Rayne knew he had a deadly allergy. He should have been more careful. What if Lucian hadn’t been there? What if he lost him? The thought alone terrified him.

Before he could calm down, he heard Rayne say coldly:

“San, let’s go. We’ll eat somewhere else. Apparently, someone just ruined our meal.”

His words cut deep. Lucian realized he had gone too far. Maybe he’d been too harsh, too controlling. He didn’t mean to hurt Rayne, but he had.
