Chapter 15

CHAPTER 15

E lliot tossed the last garbage bag into the corner near the elevator. Maya had gone to his room to shower after they’d finished. The bastard who’d destroyed her clothes hadn’t destroyed her. That simple cardboard box they’d overlooked was her world. Elliot went back to retrieve it from her bedroom and bring it into his. He set it on the bedside table on what he considered her side of the bed. Then he shrugged out of his shirt and slacks, putting them in his laundry bag along with his t-shirt and socks.

He turned as the bathroom door opened. Maya stood in the doorway wrapped in a white bath sheet. The thing shrouded all of her except her bare shoulders. Desire spiked with that small peek of bare skin. He knew what was under that wrap, and like a man crossing the desert desperate for water, his entire being craved her. His soul was parched for their connection, for the feeling he’d thought he’d never have. For the joy he’d been sure he’d lost forever.

She smiled at him. “I think we should conserve water tonight.”

He licked his lips, so on board with that idea. “Do you?”

She crooked her finger at him. Who the hell was he not to abide by his primary’s requests? He dropped his briefs and tossed them toward his laundry bag, not really caring whether they made it.

As he reached her, she lifted her arms, and the bath sheet fell to the floor. He dropped his lips to hers and backed her into the en suite. He opened one eye enough to direct them straight into the shower. She laughed as the water sprayed them, and he couldn’t help smiling at her. She had every reason to cower in a corner, yet she wasn’t.

He tipped the showerhead so it wasn’t drowning them and then moved her against the steamy glass. She gasped when her back touched the cooler glass. Elliot dropped to his knees in front of her. She pushed her hands through his wet hair, and he leaned forward, taking her nipple into his mouth. He ran his fingers up the inside of her thighs and found her core. When he entered her and twisted his fingers to reach that one special spot, she slapped the glass with both hands. Her legs trembled as he made a map of her erogenous zones. Maya wasn’t a silent partner, and he thanked his lucky stars for that. She told him if she needed him lower or higher or if she wanted him to go faster or to slow down. He worked her body with his fingers until she was close, then he sat on his heels and parted the luscious and hot folds of skin. He ran his tongue up one side of her clit. She grabbed his hair with her hands and held him against her. As if he was going anywhere anytime soon.

He doubled his efforts with his fingers and mouth. Her legs straightened, and her body tightened. He could feel her body trembling on the verge of climax, and if that didn’t make the caveman inside him roar with pleasure, nothing would. When her core tightened against his fingers, he removed them and used his tongue to lap up her essence as she came. When her body went lax, he stood up. She opened her eyes and looked up at him. “God, do that again.”

He smiled and took her hand, moving her over to the bench. He sat down on it and had her crawl onto his lap. She lifted enough that he could enter her. The slide of his cock inside her as she gripped his shaft shot vibrating sensations straight to the base of his cock. He hissed as he hilted. “So damn good.”

She leaned forward and hummed in agreement. He lifted her hips and rocked into her. She moved a bit and found a way to lift and lower as he entered her and retracted. The sensation catapulted him closer to that edge. Maya reached behind her and cupped his balls. His body jerked, and his eyes shot open. She rolled them, and he damn near bit off his lip, keeping himself from shouting. His thumb found her clit, and he rubbed it on the side with a bit of pressure, just as she liked it. She arched backward, and he lost himself inside her. As he went, he felt her body spasm around him. He wrapped his arms around her back and pulled her toward him so he could keep her upright.

When she finally lifted off him, he opened his eyes. “You almost killed me,” he said with a huff of laughter.

“What a way to go!” she said, sending her soaking wet hair to her back with a loud splat. Then she reached for the soap. He held onto her as she stretched and then brought the bar back. She started rubbing the soap on his chest. “I’ve never done this.”

Elliot cocked his head. “Washed a man’s chest?”

She laughed. “Well, that, too, but had sex in a shower.”

“To be honest, I haven’t either.”

She looked up from the design she was drawing in the suds. “What?”

He sat up straight, and she squealed as she slipped from his lap. He caught her and pulled her back up. “I’m not really a ladies’ man. I’ve only had a handful of relationships.”

She wrapped her arms around his neck. “You’re not one of those love-them-and-leave-them kind of guys, then?”

He shook his head. “Nope.”

“And yet here we are.”

“Yes, we are.” He smiled at her. “I find I’m incredibly okay with that.”

She leaned in and kissed him. “So am I.”

He felt it the second the water turned from warm to ice cold. Maya shrieked and jumped up from his lap, which put the full force of the ice-cold water on him. He jumped up and slapped the water off. “Holy shit,” he gasped.

“Yeah.” She stood looking at herself. They were both covered in soap, and she was shivering. “We need to rinse off.”

He looked at her and then at the shower. “No.” He shook his head.

She nodded. “Just to get the soap off.”

Elliot shook his head again. “I can wait. I’ve taken my share of cold showers in the field. Warm water will show up.”

Maya rolled her eyes. “Don’t be a baby.” She reached forward and turned on the water. Elliot plastered himself to the side as she squeaked and danced under the cold water. She was done in five seconds and had a towel wrapped around her in the next five. She pulled a towel out of the cupboard. “Hurry up.”

Elliot groaned and clenched his jaw shut. The ice water hit him, and he rinsed as quickly as he could. He slapped the water off, and Maya wrapped him in the bath sheet. “Holy hell.” Elliot shivered as he wiped off.

Maya chuckled. “It wasn’t that bad, was it?”

Elliot grumped, “I think my balls have retreated permanently.”

Maya blinked and then laughed. “Poor baby. Maybe someone should encourage them to come out and play again.”

Elliot cocked his head and gave her a side-eye. “I think someone should.”

“Well, then, let me get this hair in a braid, and I’ll be right there.” She turned her back to him and wiggled that pert and perfect ass at him. The woman was going to kill him, but as she said, what a way to go.

Silas and Rob met them at the office. Maya wore jeans, a T-shirt, and a pair of tennis shoes. Her hair was up in a ponytail, and she barely looked legal, even though she was in her mid-thirties. Elliot thought she was hot in a skirt, but damn, jeans hugged all her curves in the best possible way. After she put the food she brought from home in her refrigerator, he followed her to her desk, then went into the bathroom and checked the closets before coming back. “I’m meeting Asher downstairs in five minutes. Do you need anything?”

She smiled up at him. “Sleep?”

He leaned down and whispered, “Sorry, I’d offer you my bed, but my roommate is ravenous and insatiable. She kept me up all last night.”

“Lucky you.” She lifted her eyebrows and smiled at him.

“Damn straight,” he growled.

“Oh, I’m sorry.” Jessica’s voice at the door was a surprise, at least for him.

“That’s okay, I was just leaving.” Elliot smiled at Maya and headed out of the office.

“What on earth are you wearing?” Jessica’s shocked question would probably be repeated, at least in people’s heads, all day long.

“Clothes. Just a change of pace today.” They’d take care of clothes shopping tonight. He’d called in a couple of favors, and a department store not far from the office would stay open late for Maya. She’d be able to replace the clothes that had been slaughtered without a crowd of people and the security issues involved with a huge store.

“Oh, Jessica, could I please have the keycard you have for Maya’s apartment?” He stopped and looked at Maya’s assistant.

Jessica frowned and looked at him and then at Maya. “Why?”

“The apartment is being rekeyed, and we have to turn it in. I’ll issue you a new one as soon as we get it.” Elliot held out his hand. “Now, please.”

“Sure. Ah … let me go get it. It’s in my desk.” Jessica walked past him, and he watched as she slipped into her office.

“We’re getting the apartment rekeyed?”

“Oh, definitely,” Elliot said, still staring at the office Jessica disappeared into. “How long does it take to pick up a key?”

“Not too long?” Maya asked, leaving her desk and coming to stand next to him. He narrowed his eyes and headed toward Jessica’s office. Maya was on his six.

When they reached the door to the office, Jessica was tearing apart her desk drawers and muttering to herself.

“Trouble finding it?”

Jessica jumped and clutched at her chest. “Lord, you scared me, but yes, I can’t find it. I always keep it right here.” She tapped the bottom of the drawer.

“Well, keep looking. The key will be invalid, but we still want to account for all the keys.”

“Sure, I know it’s here,” Jessica said, looking through stacks of paper she’d pulled out of another drawer.

Elliot motioned for Maya to head back to her office. “Please call your housekeeper and ask her if she has her keycard.”

Maya frowned but retrieved her phone and made the call. She hung up a moment later and nodded. “She has it.”

Jessica ran out of her office. “I found it! It slipped behind the drawer somehow. I had to take the desk apart to get to it.” She stared at him smugly as she handed it over.

“Thanks.” Elliot nodded and pocketed the key card. His phone vibrated in his pocket. He looked at Maya. “Rob and Silas are here with you. I’ll be back as soon as possible.”

“I have enough work to keep me here until midnight, so take your time,” Maya said as she walked to her desk.

Rob walked into the office as he walked out. Silas stood beside the office door and nodded to him as he made his way down to Asher. They had an interview to conduct.
