Chapter 12 Unknown

CHAPTER 12

UNKNOWN

The girl could be a threat.

She should not have been. She hadn’t even been on their radar beyond her association with one of their females. She was supposed to keep to herself and pass her time living life like any other student, leave the university with memories and connections.

But she had stood out, brought herself to their attention, almost demanded it.

First by finding the female on the beach.

Then by looking for threads that didn’t exist for the general populace.

They were too old, too organized, too obsolete for her to do any damage. But even the reason for their longevity had been the secret they had all vowed to keep. Over the centuries, there had been rumors and whispers, of course there had. It was impossible for them not to seep out into the collective consciousness over hundreds of years.

But they stayed silent, waiting, watching, winning.

Hidden from the world. Neutralizing any threats to their existence.

The girl, luckily for her, wasn’t seen as one, not yet. But an eye had to be kept on her. And if they were good at anything, it was watching.

Always watching.

Love led us straight to sudden death together.
