“ Wait ,” he says. “ Did you ask him about the land?”
“ Ask him what?” Rachel asks.
“ Yeah , he said no. His reasons were sound. I can give you details later, but after he put his hands on Rachel , we got into a bit of a pissing match. No way in hell would he even consider selling that land to me now.” The truth of that only hits me as I voice it. Suddenly , disappointment overpowers my anger.
“ What land?” she asks.
“ Here .” I hand the phone to her. “ I’ll be back.” I kiss her lips gently and look back at Evan . “ Have a talk with her. Remind her who she belongs to.”
“ My pleasure,” he says.
I hug her tight and give her a possessive kiss that has Evan whispering swear words under his breath. The three of us have to get together—and soon.
