Extended Epilogue
Eros
“You need to end it. Tonight.”
Ambrose dragged both hands down his face, exhaling like I was the one wasting his time. The look he gave me lit a fucking fuse in my chest. We did not raise him to be this kind of man, and he was pissing me off.
“Are you serious right now, Pops?” he asked. “Again?”
“Yes. Again, and fucking again until you listen!”
We’d been having this damn conversation for over an hour, and I was done playing nice with him.
My son—my reckless, impulsive, and hardheaded son was in a relationship with Grace Lawson, daughter of King, president of the fucking Sinners.
And he was treating her like she was just another girl in his rotation. And I was sick and fucking tired of it.
I leaned forward, elbows on my knees. “You think this is a damn game?” I asked. “You think you can screw around behind her back, and it won’t blow up in your damn face?”
He didn’t answer. Just glared at me because he didn’t like what I was saying, but he knew it was the truth.
“I let it slide when you two started dating. Thought it was puppy love, something that you’d both grow out of once real life kicked in. But it didn’t. And now you’re dragging her along while you do your shit. And you’re not being honest about it because you want to have your cake and eat it too.”
“She knows me,” he muttered. “She loves me for who I am.”
“No, Ambrose. She knows the version of you that shows up when she calls. The boy who told her he would be with her until the end. Not the one who’s chasing ass behind her back because you want to be a part of this life and you like that part of it.
You want to patch in to Savage Order? Fine.
But don’t fuck up Grace’s life in the process. ”
I stood, pacing, trying to keep my voice from cracking.
“This isn’t just about you anymore. You break her heart, you humiliate King’s daughter, you’re not just dealing with family drama, you’re starting a war between two MCs. You understand that?”
He flinched but didn’t say anything because he knew I was right.
King tolerated Ambrose for his daughter’s sake, but as soon as he found out he fucked her over, that not only affected him but also us.
He was my son. I would protect him even if it meant going to war with the Sinners.
If he’d just listen, we could avoid all this shit.
“Janea!” I barked toward the kitchen. “Come talk to your damn son before I lose it.”
She came in fast, worry etched on her face. She sat beside Ambrose, and his entire posture softened. That boy loved his mama. But love wasn’t enough when he was on a path that could destroy everything we’d built.
“Baby,” she said, “we love Grace. You know that, right?”
“I know that,” he whispered. “But you think I’m not good enough for her.”
“No,” she said, her voice trembling. “We think you’re not treating her like she deserves.
You say she’s your best friend, but you’re hurting her, Ambrose.
Even if she doesn’t know what you’re doing behind her back, you’re hurting her.
And if your father had done to me what you’re doing to Grace, would you have respected him? ”
He looked away, jaw clenched.
He knew she was right. Even to this day, if a club whore stepped out of line with me, thinking that I fucked anything like most of the brothers, Ambrose was the first person to make sure they knew I was untouchable because of Janea. And not to disrespect his mama.
“You’re not ready for this kind of love, son,” I said, stepping closer.
“Not when you’re chasing the thrill of this life, not when you’re lying to the one person who’d walk through the fucking fire for you.
That girl loves you with everything she has, but if you want to be part of this life, then own it.
But don’t drag Grace into this shit when you’re not ready to commit to her.
She’s still young, and so are you. Go live your lives, and if it’s meant to be, you’ll come back together. ”
He looked up at me, and for the first time, I saw it. The fear. The guilt. The part of him that knew we were right, and he was hurting the one woman that he claimed was his best friend. The one woman that he claimed to love.
“You break it off,” I said, voice low and final. “Or you risk losing more than her. You risk causing some shit that you may never come back from.”
He didn’t say anything, but when he left the room, I plopped down beside Janea and pulled her into my arms. “Thank you for being here for him.”
“He’s my son, Niko. I want what’s best for him, but I hope he listens. This could cause a lot of problems.”
“I know it. I want him happy, but he’s looking for it in all the wrong places. I get the thrill of being in the life. Shit, I’ve lived it most of my life. But I don’t approve of him stringing her along because he’s scared to let her go.”
“Give him time.”
“I’m trying, sweetheart. But that time is running out. If I have to step in, I will. He’s fucking up, and his fuck-up could cause major problems that go beyond his relationship.”
“I love you, Niko It’ll work out for the best.”
“I love you too, sweetheart. And I hope you’re right.”
Only time will tell what will come of this entire situation.
But I hope Ambrose could find his peace, like I’d found in Janea.
Without her, my life wouldn’t be what it is.
And neither would his. I wanted him to experience the kind of love we shared.
Hopefully, he got his happy ending just like I’d got mine.
