Chapter 2
Jack
I am stunned as I watch the moving van unloading furniture into the small mansion next door to ours. So far, I have seen an exceptionally gorgeous blonde taking things from her Mercedes Sports Coupe into the house while the movers are emptying the huge moving van. But no man.
I see the three moving men gawking hungrily at the gorgeous woman every chance they get. I’ll bet there will be some offers to help move her furniture around and put together the massive California king size bed they carried in.
I chuckled to myself when I saw the men talking to the woman after everything was in her mansion. She shook her head and the men all looked dejected as they walked back and buttoned up their truck to leave.
It was just after dark that my doorbell chimed.
I was blown away when I opened the door to see the gorgeous blonde standing on my huge porch.
“Hi, my name is Fiona and I am your new neighbor.
Goldilocks told me with a huge smile. “Hello there you! My name is Jack and I am pleased to meet you. And welcome to the neighborhood,” I answered her with an equally broad smile.
“Could you come over and help me with my bed? It requires some assembly,” Fiona asked sweetly. “There is nothing I would like more than to help you in any way I can,” I flirted a bit.
Fiona chuckled softly at my answer. “I see a ring on your finger. How long have you been married, Jack?” Fiona asked as we walked from my place to hers. “We’ve been together for twenty two years and married twenty one of them,” I answered.
“Sounds like you are nicely settled in then,” Fiona conjectured. “I think it’s a little too settled over the past year or so,” I answered. Surprised that I just blurted it out.
For some reason, Fiona seems like someone I could talk to. Or maybe it’s just that I spend too much time alone at home as a writer with few people to talk to. “Sorry, I spend too much time alone,” I tell Fiona.
“Why is that Jack?” Fiona asked curiously. “I am a writer and work from home. The only time I am around other people is when I do my 12 weeks each year of book signing tours,” I inform her.
“Well surely you take your wife out on dates?” Fiona said.
“Nope, her date nights are on Tuesdays when she goes out for Lady’s nights and Friday when she goes out with coworkers for dinner and drinks,” I informed my lovely neighbor.
“The rest of the time she is too tired or just wants to stay home,” I added.
“Uh-Oh Jack. That sounds like trouble. I see that all the time in my practice,” Fiona tells me as we climb the spiral staircase to the master bedroom. “Practice?” I inquired. “Yes, I am a marriage therapist. I work with couples and separate spouses,” she confided.
“Maybe when you’re not busy I could cry on your shoulder some,” I suggest. Again amazed that I said it. “Yes, we could do that as friends. I don’t think I’d like a client just next door,” she chuckled good naturedly.
“Yes-Yes! I would not want to impose on you. I may be a shut in, but I don’t want to be a bother,” I told her. “Oh not at all, Jack,” I will enjoy a new friend to talk with and get to know,” Fiona. “Yes, I’d like that a lot,” I answered.
Fiona had to hold each side panel while I attached them to the head board. Bent over, there was quite a lot of under boob exposed. I did my best not to stare. But took little glances when I could get away with it.
While she held the foot of bed up so I could attach the side boards, I had an unobstructed view up her halter top and the under half of both breasts.
“I must say Jack that you were quite the gentleman,” Fiona told me as we were putting the sheets on the bed.
“You did your very best to not stare at my tits while you did your chore. I admire you for that,” she told me.
My cheeks turned red as a beet. “I wasn’t quite all that noble,” I told her humbly. “I took glances,” I confessed.
“What do I owe you for your time and assistance?” Fiona asked softly. “Oh that’s not necessary. I just enjoyed having someone to be with and talk to,” I replied.
“Well why don’t you at least sit with me in the parlor and have a glass of wine with me. We could talk some more. I’d love to hear more about your wife.,” Fiona suggested. “Yes, I’d like that a lot,” I accepted.
“Will your wife have a fit if she comes home and you’re not there?
” Fiona asked as she handed me a glass of wine.
“No. Tonight is Tuesday. She will make a mad dash to the bedroom to take a quick shower and get dressed up. Then be out the door not even noticing if I am home or not,” I announced. A bit of bitterness in my tone.
Fiona and I talked for hours. Or should I say that I told her my life story up to the present while she listened.
I told her about my wild man days during much of college.
Adding that by the time I graduated with a master’s degree in English Lit.
that I had already sold my first three books and made my first quarter of a million dollars.
I told her how I met Jennifer and fell instantly in love with her. That my carousing around ended abruptly and I never looked back.
I told Fiona how things had really become strained over the past year with Jennifer. “Sometimes, she treats me as if I’m her enemy rather than her husband. Other times, she treats me like a bothersome roommate.”
“We have sex maybe once or twice a week. She always comes to bed naked on Saturday nights. But she has given up wearing anything sexy for me even though she has tons of lingerie in her dresser. Sometimes, she throws me a bone and fucks me on Sunday too,” I disclosed.
Fiona then asked me questions like a therapist would. Getting me to search my feelings and tell her how I was feeling about things. Before I knew it, three hours had passed and it was nearing midnight.
“I’m so sorry that I got diarrhea of the mouth.
I just couldn’t stop talking,” I told Fiona in embarrassment.
“Oh no Jack! What a privilege that you trusted me enough to tell me what’s going on inside of you and how you are feeling,” Fiona told me.
“I think we are going to be wonderful friends and you will always welcome to talk to me about anything you could possibly want,” she said.
I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders as I walked back to my small mansion. I was surprised by how insecure I feel now. How I have deep misgivings about what Jennifer does on Tuesday and Friday nights.
As usual, Jennifer got home at a quarter before 3am. As usual, she took a shower as soon as she got home. Then came to bed wearing a loose sleep shirt.
I cuddled up behind her and kissed her on the back of the neck. “Not tonight. I’m exhausted,” Jennifer said tersely. “Why should tonight be any different than any other night,” I growled as I rolled away from her with my back now to her.
As I waited to be sleepy enough to get back to sleep, I wondered to myself what it would be like to have Fiona in my bed. But then we are both married. Fat chance of that ever happening.
