11. Gemini Black #3
“They got the best lawyer they could find for me. I had a team of lawyers, and I remember hearing my mom say that she was willing to go broke if that meant paying whatever she could to make sure that I had a team that was going to fight for me, and I wouldn’t have to serve prison time.
They fought for me, and I was able to walk away scotch free from that.
That’s why I love my grandma the way that I do.
She was praying over me every day. During all that, I remember coming around my mom every day, and she would look at me with disappointing eyes.
I hated that because I felt like I reminded her of my father in that moment.
You know that my biological father is in prison, serving a life sentence.
How she felt about him for doing what he did is how she had to feel about me.
At least, that’s how I saw it at the time,” I said some real shit to Amina.
“But you aren’t anything like him, Gemini. Your father is in prison for murder, amongst other things. You aren’t like that. All it took was one encounter with jail for you, and you allowed that situation to motivate you into becoming a better person,” she said, and I nodded my head, hearing her.
“I remember my stepdad used to tell me that you carry your name into every room before opening your mouth, so you have to protect it. I never really knew what he meant by that. I thought he was talking from a reputation point of view. Whole time, this man was talking about background checks, job applications, professional licenses, just all the things that I was going to need to be clean if I wanted to run my own business one day. After all that shit happened, and the charges were dropped, they continued fighting for my future. Made sure to get all my records sealed and cleared, so that it wouldn’t follow me for the rest of my life.
They protected it, just like Darnell told me that it needed to be protected,” I shared.
“So yeah, driving trucks saved me. I don’t have the most glamorous job in the world.
I’m not showing up to work every morning, wearing a thousand-dollar Armani suit, walking to a big, fancy ass office in downtown Miami.
Instead, I’m climbing inside this bad ass 18-wheeler truck from sunup to sundown.
This trucking shit saved my life. I could have been hardheaded, and went back to the streets after my parents fought to get me out of that jam.
You know Miami niggas like to gamble with their life.
I didn’t do that though. I got my CDL, learned the business, and I built a business.
People always tell me that I love this trucking shit, and that I stay on the road.
My response to that is I get peace from being on this truck.
If I was in the streets, still hustling, I would never have peace,” I concluded.
Amina turned her head to look at me, placed both of her hands on the sides of my face, and she kissed me a couple of times.
When we finished, I reached over, so that I could pull her plate over to this side, and she could finish her breakfast. I didn’t want her to leave my lap, and that’s why I brought her food to her.
“What about you? Why did you decide to go with architectural design? Because that’s what your dad did?” I quizzed.
She smiled at the question, so I could tell that that was the answer.
I didn’t bring Amina’s dad up too much because I knew that it was a sensitive topic for her.
We’ve been on this truck for weeks, and he was only brought up once or twice, and whenever we talked about him, it was quick.
I respected it though. I didn’t want to have her talking about anything that she didn’t want to.
“That’s exactly the reason. When I was a little girl, he used to sit me down, and we would look at so many blueprints together.
That used to be the highlight of my day.
At a young age, I was so thirsty for him to show me those floor plans.
At first, I only liked it because he liked it, but over the years, the nerd in me just wanted to see it.
I thought what he did was the coolest job in the world.
I never had to think about what I wanted to major in.
I knew I was going to follow in his footsteps.
I wanted to continue what he started,” she said, and her words were beautiful, so I smiled at them.
“I know he’s proud of you,” I said, ending it at that.
We dropped it from there and continued eating our food.
Once we were done, we cleaned together like we always did.
We didn’t put the tables and chairs back because the plan was to cook lunch, and dinner for us again.
We got back on the truck, so that we could grab what we needed to head inside the building to take our shower, and everything else.
What started with me reaching up to hand Amina her shower bag, turned into me handing it to her, where she thanked me for it, and somehow for me to tell her, ‘you’re welcome’, I had to bend her over on the bed, where I got my first dose of morning pussy.
You would think that we did enough fuckin last night. You would think that I dished out enough orgasms to her last night, but I didn’t. After feeding her, getting her belly full, here I was fuckin her, filling her up some more.
Every time we fucked these days, I could feel my feelings getting deeper, and deeper for her. We’ve crossed so many lines already. It was only a matter of time before I fucked around and told this girl that I loved her.
