25. Amina Black

Amina Black

Today was our last day in Mexico. Gemini and I were headed out tomorrow morning.

I have been on a high with this man ever since we tied the knot two days ago.

It’s times where I found myself staring off into space, pinching myself, just making sure that it wasn’t a dream.

Every time I would look down at my left hand, and see this beautiful rock sitting there, that’s when I was reminded that this actually was my life.

I will talk until I lose my voice when it comes to Gemini.

Until there wasn’t a single breath left in my lungs, telling everyone that’s willing to listen that God sent me a man!

A real good man. I got on that truck with him, and I was so broken.

Jacob quickly made me feel like all men were bad people, that were put on this earth to ruin women.

Gemini got rid of that mindset quickly. The way that man would tell me things, and he would stand on it.

Even before we solidified our relationship, I remember getting in my feelings one morning when I saw that a woman was calling him.

That was the only day that I ever felt myself guessing.

He quickly ridded me of that feeling because going forward, another woman never reached out to him.

He shut all that down. Crazy thing is, he didn’t even owe me that back then because we weren’t together yet, but he still did it.

His actions have never been inconsistent.

He never left me with a bunch of empty promises.

I just remember him constantly telling me, ‘I got you’, and he meant that.

Gemini has been speaking marriage, and kids with me for a while now.

Those words were beautiful to me. He could have continued to just say those beautiful words without acting on it, but he didn’t.

He went out, bought a ring, proposed to me, and married me the same day.

I don’t care if I started to sound like a broken record.

The world was going to hear about how good of a man he was to me.

“Hey. Is anyone sitting here?” a woman came over to ask me.

I was in my own little world, thinking about my man, and missing him, even though he just walked away.

The second we made it outside and sat at the bar, he realized that he’d left his phone upstairs in the room, so he went back up to grab it.

Instead of going with him, I stayed out here, holding down the seats at the bar.

This was the outdoor bar that overlooked the beach, and since we arrived at the resort, this bar has been packed every day.

We haven’t been able to sit at this specific bar.

I was able to snag us two seats, with the perfect view of the ocean.

I didn’t want to risk losing the seats, so that’s why Gemini went alone.

“No. You can go ahead,” I replied.

There were two empty seats. One on the left of me, and another on the right. The one to my right belonged to Gemini. The one to my left was the free seat that she was inquiring about.

“Thank you,” she replied.

She had a British accent. She sounded so much like the people back home in London.

I studied her for a little bit, taking her in.

She was beautiful. We looked to be around the same age.

She had nice skin, and her hair was damp, as if she’d just come out of the water.

She wore a one-piece bathing suit, with a cover up.

When I looked at her, it caused her to look at me as well.

I didn’t know her, but she looked at me as if she’d just seen a ghost. It wasn’t normal the way she looked at me.

I mean, I didn’t feel uncomfortable about it, but it was enough for me to point it out and notice that it was strange.

Maybe if I wasn’t on this high, her stare would have left me feeling uncomfortable, but it didn’t.

I just went back to looking at the drink menu that was in front of me, trying to see what I wanted to order.

“There you are. I didn’t know that you came over here. I thought you got back into the pool,” when I heard that voice, I thought that I was getting pranked.

There’s no way in hell that he was here. No way. Then again, I knew that voice from anywhere. It had to be him. I was with him for years, spending time with him every single day, so I knew that the voice belonged to him.

Just wanting to make sure, I turned my head to look, and sure enough, it was him. Right there in the flesh. My almost husband. It was Jacob.

When I turned to look, he must have felt my eyes on him because he looked at me as well.

The same weird look that the woman gave to me when she sat down is the same look that he gave me.

Now, it made all the sense in the world why she’d stared at me like that.

She knew who I was, but I didn’t know who she was.

I’m sure she was the childhood friend that he’d left me for. This had to be Gabby.

I watched the way his eyes squinted as he looked at me. It’s as if he was trying to see if his eyes were playing tricks on him, but they weren’t. It was me.

I watched as this man’s eyes traveled from the top of my head, going down to my feet.

I know that he was feeling sick to his stomach right now.

I looked good. I was out here glowing. My beautiful curls looked the healthiest that they’ve ever looked in my life.

Even though I haven’t stepped foot in the gym since I’ve been on the truck with Gemini, my body still looked as if I didn’t miss a class.

This flat stomach showed in the two piece, gold swimsuit that I was wearing.

There was sunscreen, and a shimmering body oil all over my body, so I looked as if I was shining.

I know I looked like I was ready to pose for a magazine photoshoot.

Different women have been complimenting my hair, skin, body, and glow since I stepped foot out of the room this morning.

“Amina?” he asked me.

He said my name as if he couldn’t believe that I was here.

When he said my name, you would have thought that I’ve never met this man a day in my life by the way I turned my head and didn’t even acknowledge his presence.

I didn’t show anger. I didn’t even choose to be petty. I just simply turned my head.

I allowed this man to bring me to my lowest. Scream, and cry in front of him for calling the wedding off. I’ll be damned if I ever offer him any kind of emotion out of me again.

“What are you doing here? Why are you in Mexico by yourself?” that was the audacity of him talking.

The part of him that thought that I was alone and miserable, while he moved on. I literally sent him a picture of me, and my man on Gemini’s birthday, when he texted me, trying to be petty about the ring situation. He should have known from the picture that I wouldn’t have been in Mexico alone.

I scoffed at that question. I know I wasn’t supposed to offer him any kind of emotion, but that question pushed it out of me.

“Oh, I’m not alone,” I was graceful in my response.

Before either one of us got the chance to say anything else, that sexy chocolate man made his way over to where we were.

The single women that were standing around, all looked at Gemini with their mouths open.

Even the men were looking, probably trying to figure out what his workout routine looked like.

He had the nerve to be walking around this resort without his shirt on, and just his swimming trunks, and slides. Those muscles were out. The tattoos, and the abs.

Gemini made it over to where I was, stood behind me, and he tossed his phone on the counter.

I think he was so wrapped up in me that he didn’t realize who was next to us.

All he cared about was me, as he kissed me on top of my head, and placed his right hand around my neck, holding me at my throat, massaging me there.

He made me tilt my head back, and when I did it, he leaned his head down, and right there, out here in the open, he tongued me down. He did it for about ten seconds and stopped.

Once the tongue kissing ended, he pecked me twice on the lips and pushed my head back up.

I could feel Jacob’s and his girlfriend’s eyes on us.

Gemini could feel it too because he turned, so that he could look in their direction.

His eyes went right for Jacob. I showed him a picture before.

He knew exactly who that was standing there, and that’s why he smiled.

“What’s up? How you doing, man? I’m Gemini. Amina’s husband,” Gemini said, petty as hell, putting his hand out for Jacob to shake it.

Jacob’s face turned beet red, as his eyes left Gemini for a second, so that he could look over at me.

His eyes dropped, going for my left hand.

He looked at my ring finger, and sure enough, that diamond was sitting right there, and it was flashing.

I saw the way his mouth partially opened once he saw the ring.

Jacob didn’t even have the words. He just stuck his hand out for Gemini to shake it.

“I’m Jacob,” he finally found his voice.

“Nice to finally meet you,” Gemini was petty as hell in his response.

You could tell that Jacob’s girlfriend hated everything about this moment because I heard her blow out a deep breath, and then she sucked her teeth. I watched her as she rolled her eyes at Jacob and then turned to look at me.

“I guess I’ll just introduce myself, then. I’m Gabby. I’m Jacob’s girlfriend,” she said to me, sticking her hand out for me to shake.

With a smile on my face, I stuck my hand out, eager to shake hers. In this situation, I knew that I’d won, and she didn’t. She got with a man that called off a wedding just a week before. If he could do me like that, he would do her like that.

“Nice to meet you, Gabby. I wish you well,” was all that I had for her.

She knew that I was being petty because she quickly got up and stormed off. Jacob stared back and forth between me, and Gemini, and then he walked off, going after his girlfriend.
