Chapter Sixteen

It's Friday night and I'm at Nelson's place again.

We only have two more weeks of classes left and I'm watching Nelson work on his project.

He and Tyler did great on their presentations, but this one is a paper they're all doing individually.

He won't let me look at his progress, or even give him pointers.

Says it wouldn't be fair to the ones not sleeping with the professor.

I tried to explain that he's one of two students that used my office hours so it isn't like it'd be cheating.

Still, he wouldn't budge, so I decide to watch TV. It's only nine and he doesn't have to wake up with the animals tomorrow and yet, we're sitting in opposite spots in the house and not taking advantage of being alone. I tell myself that I'll get him into the bed, hopefully naked, within the hour.

The thought of cuddling up with Nelson has me smiling to myself.

We haven't done more than mutual hand jobs and one blowjob in a shared shower, but I've enjoyed all of it.

I love having someone to hold at night, too.

He's mentioned it a few times that he is fine with either, but he definitely has that preference for being the little spoon and bottoming.

I'd be lying if I said I haven't thought about how it would feel to have Nelson take control, or how that beautiful cock of his would feel inside me.

"You're making some type of noise over here," Nelson's voice whispers in my ear.

I startle, my eyes shooting open in surprise.

I wasn't even aware I had closed them. Nelson's hand on my chest keeps me from moving.

His hand travels down my chest and stomach, heading for exactly where I want him.

His other hand is resting on my shoulder.

His fingers brush over the obvious bulge in my sweats.

"I'm over here working on your project while you're dreaming about something spicy. "

I rest my head on the back of the couch, giving him plenty of space to kiss my neck.

His lips are soft and the scratch of his beard sends tingles throughout my body.

His hand on my shoulder sneaks underneath my shirt.

"I was thinking of all the ways we could spend tonight since you don't have to be up before the sun tomorrow. "

His left hand grazes my cock again. I let out a groan and try to lift my hips to keep the contact. His hand disappears, but the other flicks my nipple. I gasp at the sensation and Nelson laughs in my ear. He kisses my neck once more before standing back up.

"I have just one more thing to do before I feel like I can call it a night," he says. I turn around to watch him walk back to the table.

"I hear your professor takes bribes of sexual favors to get out of doing homework," I call after him. I smile when the house fills with laughter.

Nelson turns to look at me and shakes his head. "Unfortunately, I'm not much into the roleplay of professor-student."

"Are you into anything else?" I fold my arms over the back of the couch and rest my chin on them. We've briefly hit on this subject, but Nelson says he hasn't been too adventurous. I like a few things and I'm curious if Nelson would be up for trying them.

"Haven't really tried," Nelson says. He types something on his laptop before looking back at me. "If there is something you want to do, or try, just ask. I'm not shy of trying new things. Especially with someone I trust."

Those words hit deep in my chest. He says them so casually, but they do mean a lot to me. Trust is a big thing for me. A big turn on, as well.

"Would you ever try wax?"

The speed that he turns around and fixes me with a confused look makes me laugh. I adjust my position to sit on my knees, resting my elbows on the back of the couch now. "Like waxing your legs or something? I fear I like my body hair a bit too much to do that."

"No." I smile at his innocence. "I mean like candle wax. Or, the much safer wax designed for sex. There's a shop that sells candles that burn down into oils you can use."

"Do you like that?" I nod my head and give him a half sheepish smile.

"I've dabbled with it before," I explain. "I like the sensation when it first hits my skin. Plus, the massage I get beforehand to apply the lotion so that it doesn't stick directly to my skin."

"There is it," Nelson says with a smile. "The hidden agenda."

"No hidden agenda here," I say. I stand up and walk around the couch toward him. "If it isn't something you're into, that's fine. I just thought I'd bring it up."

"No, I'm willing to try it." Nelson tilts his head back and purses his lips. I give in easily and lean down to kiss him.

"I'll buy a few candles and we'll plan a night together. Maybe to celebrate you passing this class?"

"Sounds perfect," he says with another bright smile. I can see the interest in his eyes and it settles something in my stomach that he isn't just playing along for my sake. I don't want a partner like that. We're both old enough to say what we do and don't like.

"How much longer do you have on this?" I nod my head toward his laptop. He tilts the screen down slightly so I can't see what he's written, which makes me roll my eyes.

"Ten minutes tops. Go back to your daydreaming and I'll be right there."

"Promise?" I raise my eyebrows at him, which makes him laugh. He pushes me away and turns back to his computer.

My phone starts ringing before I can sit back down. I frown when I see my brother's name on the screen.

"Hello?" I turn my back to Nelson as I answer.

"Hey, little bro. It's been a while." Finnigan's words are slurred. He's definitely been drinking. "What are you up to?"

"Not much. Why are you calling me?" I sit on the couch and wait for his answer, hoping that I can end this call within the promised ten minutes.

"I can't call just to talk to my brother? What has you so busy there you can't give me a few minutes?"

"You've been drinking," I say. I glance over my shoulder to look at Nelson.

I can tell he's trying not to listen in, but there isn't much privacy with the open concept.

I motion that I'm going to go into the bedroom and Nelson nods.

Despite the history between me and my family, I still have a pit of worry when Finnigan, or our sister, calls me out of the blue. "What's up with you?"

"With me? Nothing." The sound of what I'm assuming is another drink being poured carries through the phone. "I'm just… sitting here and thinking."

"About what? Aren't you supposed to be planning your engagement?"

"Ah, yes, the engagement." He says the word like it leaves a bitter taste in his mouth. "The engagement that Mom keeps asking me about, the one that I've done rescheduled twice."

"Are you having second thoughts?"

The line is quiet, but I can hear a gulp, like he's taking a shot of whatever he just poured.

He burps over the phone and I shake my head.

He must have been drinking for a while before he called me if he's already at this stage.

I'm about to tell him that I'll talk to him tomorrow when he's sober, but he starts talking again.

"I want you to be there when I do it," he admits. "I want all of my family there."

"I told you, I have classes for a couple more weeks. After that, I'm not sure what I'll be doing, but I have a few faculty meetings and then I'll be getting ready for the Fall semester."

"What if we came to you?"

"What?" That's out of left field. Beyond the left field, actually. He has to be more drunk than I thought. "Why on earth would you do that? This city has nothing to offer outside of farming fields and one restaurant nice enough to charge more than twenty dollars a plate."

"God, dude. I don't know how else to say I really want you there without actually saying it. Can you please stop making up excuses on why you can't be in the same room with me for just a minute?"

I stop in my tracks. Air is caught in my lungs and I'm at a loss for words. I didn't know he felt like that. I don't know if this is the alcohol talking or if it's his real thoughts coming out because he's drunk.

"Don't make it weird," he says on the other end of the phone. "If you really can't make time this summer, I get it."

"I'm sorry," I say. I don't really know what for, but this pit in my stomach is working overtime to grow heavier. "I.. I…"

"You didn't know that when you decided to ditch your parents, you also ditched me and your sister? We're not our parents, you know?" There's a heavy sigh on his end before he continues. "I don't know what I'm going to do."

"Do you think she's going to say no?" I can hear the sadness in his voice.

I don't know my brother to drink very often, but when he does I know he gets in his head more and more.

Of course, I haven't been around much lately, but even when we did go out partying together in our early twenties, he would usually end up sulking about something.

"I don't know," Finnigan says. "I should probably just take someone here home. Let me be the bad guy and her end things."

"Finnigan, don't you dare even think that." Him thinking about cheating just to end his relationship is too far. "What bar are you at right now? I'm going to call our sister to come pick you up before you do anything stupid."

"I'm fine," he says. I sit on the edge of the bed and close my eyes, pinching the bridge of my nose.

"You're drunk, Finn." I use the nickname only our mom uses. He knows I'm serious because he knows how much I hate being called Ben. "Tell me where you are."

He mumbles the name of the bar and I immediately text our sister and him in a group text.

I add in to make sure to text me when they are both home safe.

I don't know what is going on with him. I've always thought that him and Veronica weren't compatible, but it wasn't my place to tell him that the girl he's been with for years isn't right for him.

"Don't do anything stupid, okay?" Our sister texts that she'll be at the bar in fifteen minutes. "I'll call you tomorrow to check on you."

I end the call and fall back onto the bed. Just as I let out a long sigh, the bedroom door creaks open and I open one eye enough to see Nelson standing there. "Everything okay?"

"Just my brother being stupid." I say. "He's having second thoughts about asking his girlfriend to marry him and I don't blame because she's shallow and cares too much about appearances and showing off money."

"Tell me how you really feel," Nelson says with a small laugh. I take his hand and let him pull me up into a sitting position. I wrap my arms around his waist and rest my chin against his stomach. Our eyes meet and we share a smile. "You look sleepy."

"I am sleepy," I admit. "But I can be not sleepy if you wanted to do something."

"No, it's okay. Like you said, I don't have to wake up early tomorrow." He runs his fingers through my hair. "Feel free to wake me up however you see fit."

My eyes widen in surprise. "Really? However I want to?"

"Go for it," he nods.

My phone dings with an incoming text and I pull away from Nelson to look at it.

It's Finnigan, saying that he's moved outside and is waiting by the front entrance.

"I have to stay up long enough to know my brother made it home, but then I'll be ready for bed.

It'll take my sister at least an hour to get him and herself back home. "

"Want to go watch a movie, then? If you fall asleep, I'll wake you up when they text you again."

"You're the best," I say. "You know that, right?"

"Feel free to keep telling me that." He pulls me up to my feet and I tuck myself into his side as we walk back to the couch.
