Chapter 349 The Wife of a Forbidden Lord

Zara went to Winfred to learn more about the so-called lords of the forbidden zones.

Now that she had more clues, she knew the "forbidden zone lord" referred to the mystic beasts' forbidden zones. What she needed was information related to those places.

From the look of it, the other world was far more complicated than she had thought. Last time she went there, she had only gotten a basic understanding of the human side.

Sure enough, any world that had evolved to that level was not simple.

Winfred was clearly surprised when Zara asked him directly for information on the mystic beasts' forbidden zones. "What do you need that for?!"

This time, Zara sent him a voice message, so she did not bother being subtle.

"I want to know a few things."

Winfred immediately grew wary. "And after you know them?"

Zara paused for a second. "Then I'll invade your Divine World. Do you have any objections?"

Winfred fell silent.

With tears practically in his voice, he managed to say, "No."

Then he added, "I only have one request. On the day you invade the other world, please don't tell anyone I gave you the information, okay?"

"Relax," Zara said. "I won't. Come on, do I look like the kind of person who takes the benefit and then sells out the helper?"

Winfred was speechless.

Still, he worked quickly. Before long, he sent Zara a portion of the information he had on the forbidden zones.

The reason Zara had not asked Aurelion was simple. That silly dragon might be silly, but he had also been raised in the Upper Realm since he was young. He probably knew even less than Winfred. Asking Winfred directly was obviously more efficient.

According to the information, the so-called mystic beasts' forbidden zones in the other world were the birthplaces of mystic beasts.

Each birthplace had once been a royal city, and each royal city guarded its own forbidden zone. The very first mystic beast born from each forbidden zone was known as a legendary mystic beast.

However, even the existence of legendary mystic beasts came mostly from the inherited memories within mystic beast bloodlines. No one truly knew whether they still existed.

The forbidden zones had long been sealed off. No mystic beast was allowed to enter them, let alone humans. That was why they were called forbidden zones.

Beyond those boundaries, unpredictable things could happen, and none of them were good. Even mystic beasts died indiscriminately inside. Because of that, even the technologically advanced Upper Realm had never dared to make a move on the forbidden zones.

And yet, the forbidden zones were said to contain treasures left behind by legendary mystic beasts, ancient bloodline memories, and unimaginable power. Naturally, they attracted countless risk-takers. Even mystic beasts wanted to gain something from them.

Unfortunately, most who entered barely survived, if they survived at all.

Noctilion was one of the few who had entered one of those places.

Since he could mention things like a forbidden zone lord having a wife, there was a high chance at least one of those lords was still alive. They were simply on such a high level that they no longer bothered dealing with ordinary mystic beasts or humans.

Based on the information, the forbidden zones did not seem to have much connection to Earth.

After Zara finished reading through the files, she fell into thought.

The forbidden zones all had names, but she definitely could not go there. At least, not now. From the look of it, she probably would not have anything to do with those places for the time being.

The real problem was Soraya.

The wife of a forbidden zone lord...

That was no ordinary identity.

And if that was true, then the earlier guess that Soraya might be a Fleshwraith clearly did not fit anymore.

After sending over the information, Winfred probably sat with his anxiety for a while.

Maybe because Zara had used him as a convenient middleman to extort his people so many times by now, he had somehow started to believe that counted as a decent relationship.

After hesitating for a while, he asked cautiously, "Why are you suddenly looking into the forbidden zones?

In truth, those places lost contact with us and the mystic beast world long ago.

There shouldn't be any legendary mystic beasts left inside.

Everyone says the legendary mystic beasts have all died out. "

Mystic beasts were living beings too.

And no living being was truly immortal.

No matter how powerful a mystic beast was, it was still the same.

Of course, some special mystic beasts could nurture a new body through rebirth or shedding their old form. But those kinds of mystic beasts were extremely rare, and they usually belonged to weaker species.

In truth, the stronger a mystic beast's rank was, the more likely it seemed to have vanished over time.

It almost felt as if the world itself had been gradually weakening the mystic beasts, allowing humanity to grow and survive more safely.

Zara thought for a moment before saying, "That's not necessarily true. They're called legendary mystic beasts, aren't they? How can you be so sure they're all dead?"

Winfred replied, "But no one has seen one in thousands of years. The history of humanity on our side only goes back a few thousand years too. In other words, from the very beginning of our recorded history, legendary mystic beasts were already legends. So no one believes they still exist."

He paused, then continued, "Actually, we have explored the forbidden zones before.

Some people even came back alive. They all said there were no living creatures inside.

What does exist there is an extremely powerful residual force.

Once that force fades, we should be able to properly explore the mystic beasts' forbidden zones. "

Zara made a soft sound of acknowledgment. "Oh."

Then she asked, "Do you know something? When I went to the other world last time, I heard a rumor. They said that when your Holy Sovereign and Holy Consort left back then, they didn't come to Earth just to investigate it. They brought some treasure of the Upper Realm with them."

Winfred was stunned. "That happened?"

Clearly, even as a priest, he did not know anything on that level.

The reason Zara told him was simple: she did not care much either way. Judging from how much hatred Valerius had shown that day, she had no idea what the Holy Sovereign and Holy Consort had taken from him. Whatever it was, it had certainly pushed him over the edge.

Winfred said, "Why do I feel like you know more than I do? Are you really from Earth?"

Zara answered, "The Imperial Clan told me when I visited last time. They were pretty nice people."

Winfred fell silent.

What had happened last time had already spread throughout the entire Divine World.

It was the first time in centuries that the Imperial Clan had lost face so badly.

Still, once everyone realized it had been an internal power struggle within the Imperial Clan, most people treated it as nothing more than juicy noble gossip.

As for the Lower Realm, no one there had been capable of stopping any of it anyway.

After Zara hung up, she suddenly noticed movement near her feet.

She looked down and saw Noctilion secretly crawling toward the door.

Zara gave a cold laugh. "And where do you think you're going?"

Noctilion immediately froze. Then, as if nothing had happened, he calmly slithered back. "I was just taking a walk. Look how nervous you are."

Aurelion immediately ratted him out from the side. "That wasn't a walk. He was trying to escape."

Zara said, "Honestly, I don't really care if you run. You'll be caught and brought back anyway. The real problem is your current condition. If you crawl out onto the street like this, someone is definitely going to catch you."

She glanced at him and continued, "If an ordinary citizen catches you and turns you over to the government, that would still be fine.

But with your identity? Do you really think the people from the Divine World will treat you with warmth and friendship if they get their hands on you?

You haven't forgotten that you're a wanted fugitive from the Upper Realm, have you? "

Noctilion fell silent.

Right.

He had only been thinking about escaping. He had not considered that being caught outside by people from the Divine World would lead to the exact same fate.

After all, he had killed so many people and mystic beasts from the Divine World. Between them, there was no possibility of peace.

Thinking of this, Noctilion lifted his neck and said, "Forget it, then."

Aurelion immediately began egging him on. "Don't be scared. Why are you backing down? Go on, get out there. What's so frightening about being caught? Use your power. Wipe them out!"
