Epilogue
Trevor
Six months later,
“To ‘A Night To Remember’,” the crowd celebrating with us choruses after the toast, and I angle my body towards Gracie, clink glasses with her, then allow my smile to widen.
It’s her book launch, and we’ve decided to celebrate it at Espresso Books, the café that holds both our hearts.
“I want to thank every one of you for being here tonight,” Gracie says to the crowd, and she gains their attention flawlessly.
She looks amazing tonight in her flowing red satin dress. The flair of the hips hugs her figure perfectly, and the color blends perfectly with her creamy skin while matching her hair.
Breathtaking,I think, without taking my eyes off her.
Today and every other day in our lives, she’s the only woman I have eyes for. I never thought it possible to love and want one person so intensely that it consumes me.
Knowing I can’t live without her no longer scares me. Gracie shows me every day how powerful love can be.
“A Night To Remember is a book I’ve dedicated to the one man I’ll always love, and I think it’s perfect because it reminds me of how far he’s come,” she says, extending a hand towards me.
I place mine in hers without thinking, and she draws me closer before pressing a simple kiss to my cheeks. “And so all I can say is grab a free, signed copy from the pile out there and enjoy reading because I believe that we can all write our own fairy tales. Thank you.”’
The crowd cheers again, and Gracie grins at everyone before we start greeting our guests for the evening. She spends some time chatting with her publisher, Cody Trott, whom I introduced her to as promised, and I wander off to say hello to my teammates and Jace, who’s also present tonight.
I hug Jace after shaking his hand, and he smiles at me before asking the one question I know burns through his mind. “Ready for tonight?”
I smooth a hand over my tux’s lapel to make sure the ring I’ve purchased for tonight”s proposal is right in my pocket.
“Never been more ready for anything in my life,” I whisper to Jace before we share another hug.
“You know I’m always rooting for you, man,” he says as we stay in that embrace. After he releases me, I glance towards Gracie again and spot her laughing with her best friend Natalie.
Her eyes wander towards me, and our gazes lock for a brief moment. My heart swells with love for her, and I know right then that I’m making the right choice because I can’t envision my life without her.
I never believed in fairytales and the concept of love, but with Gracie, I know I want more than a few years. I want an eternity with her, loving her, and sharing every moment. Like it is meant to be.

Gracie
We stroll the beach shores later that evening, and I enjoy watching the flow of the waves floating towards the shores and frizzling into foam once they reach the sand.
The sun sets beautifully on the horizon, and its warmth bathes the ocean. I can’t imagine a more peaceful moment than when Trevor slows his pace and turns to face me.
The crisp air around us fills my nostrils and lungs when I take a deep breath. “Trevor,” I murmur from shock as he smiles at me.
“Gracie,” he responds before taking both my hands and linking our fingers. He doesn’t say a thing, but the look in his eyes makes my heart warm in that tranquil moment.
Tears already shimmer in my eyes before he lowers himself to one knee and dips his hand into his pocket for a tiny diamond ring.
I gasp and frame my mouth with both hands. The small touch of his hand as he reaches for my left hand and holds the ring close to my finger fills me with a tingle that reaches the deepest parts of my soul.
“Eight years ago I fell for you,” Trevor whispers as our eyes melt into one, heightening the sizzle of our shared connection. “I kid myself into thinking that it didn’t mean anything, but it meant everything. Gracie. You mean everything to me…You’re the woman for me, and I want to spend the rest of my life being your friend and loving you because with you I can overcome any fear and get through anything.”
He holds still for a moment after that, and my insides surge with a magnified, intoxicating feeling that I like to call the nectar of love.
My throat is clogged up from the rise of emotions tunneling through me, and I can only nod my response first before the words finally fall out of my lips.
“Yes, yes, yes,” I chant as he slips the ring onto my finger. “I love you, Trevor.”
He stands and picks me off the ground with ease. The bubble of our laughter is a melody of pure joy as he twirls me around in the air, then sets me on my feet again for a sweet kiss.
This is magic. Right here between us. And I know deep down that it’ll last us an eternity. Just like in a fairy tale.
