Chapter 10

Blake woke as early morning light stretched across his hotel room. He’d forgotten to pull the curtains closed before falling asleep last night. Considering Sierra had been in his arms, warm and willing, he didn’t mind so much. Thinking of Sierra made him open his eyes and look down at where she lay curled against him, one leg thrown over his, her head resting on his shoulder while one hand lay curled on his chest.

He wouldn’t mind waking up like this every morning.

The thought should have scared him, it had with other women, but with Sierra, it felt right. He glanced at the clock and found it was barely five. He still had a while before he needed to be to the airfield to meet his helicopter. Looking back down at Sierra he wondered how long until she woke.

After a while, he couldn’t resist the temptation to tickle the tip of her nose with one finger. At first, she only scrunched it, then she twitched. Finally, she rubbed her face back and forth against his chest a moment before blinking up at him with sleepy eyes.

“How long have you been awake?” She blinked and started to sit up.

“Not long.” He didn’t want to admit he’d been watching her.

“But long enough to get bored.”

“I wouldn’t say bored, exactly, but I’ve got to go back to Denver in a few hours. I didn’t want to get into the shower and come out to find you gone.”

“I wouldn’t do that to you.” She gave him a sleepy smile that made him want to pull her closer, kiss her and make them both linger where they were.

“What time do you need to go?”

Sierra gave a long slow blink. “If I shower here I can wait until seven, otherwise, six-thirty or even six-fifteen.”

He glanced at the clock, decided there was time for what he had in mind then held Sierra against him as he rolled over, taking her with him until he pinned her on her back against the bed.

She didn’t make a peep when he rolled them, but afterward she lay staring up at him with wide eyes, as if not sure what he would do next. He knew just what to do, and covered her mouth in a searing kiss that told her without a single word just exactly what he’d spent the last fifteen minutes thinking about before he woke her.
