Chapter 6

Chapter Six

Mila

Fucking hell. So much for a girls’ night out. I’m currently fuming, standing in the parking lot with Mara, Seth, and Kash. Rhett went back in for Atlas and Cora, and I don’t even know where to start.

Cora and I were dancing with a couple of guys, and even though I wasn’t exactly into it, I didn’t want to leave her by herself. Of course, Atlas bulldozed his way in, and then Kash shoved me behind him and whaled on the other guy.

I felt his eyes on me the entire time I was at the bar with them.

The way he watches me isn’t natural. I’ve never felt more on display than when I’m under his gaze.

His brown eyes tracked my every movement, and he acts like he’s interested, but I know better.

The only person Kash is interested in is himself.

Objectively, he’s attractive, like, really attractive.

Damn it, fine. He’s hot. I didn’t know men like him existed in real life.

Kash is stupid tall and has this muscular chest that somehow still looks comfortable.

I'm assuming tattoos cover his body, judging by the ones I see creeping up his neck, and on his scalp, but it’s his face that gets me.

Despite beating up a guy ten minutes ago, Kash has this happy demeanor about him.

His cognac-colored eyes feel playful, and his smile is devastating. It’s no wonder women are drawn to him.

Cora told me about how he hit on her when she first started working at the tattoo shop. I honestly don’t know why she does it. She’s explained it to me before, but I would be quitting first thing in the morning if I were her.

Apparently Kash is familiar with the majority of the female population in the tri county area, and I don’t feel like being another notch on his bedpost, even if he is absolutely gorgeous.

It’s really unfair. Though I doubt I’m his type anyway given that I have brown hair and eyes, plus curves.

As a baker, you have to make sure your treats are done right.

As if he can sense my gaze on him, Kash turns his lazy smirk into a full-blown grin.

“You see something you like, Sunshine?” He moves toward me. It’s gotten chilly, and as soon as Cora gets out here, we’re gone.

Holding up my hand, I stop him in his tracks. “I did see something I liked—you know, the inside of the bar I was enjoying with my friends, until your friends decided to start a fight.”

“Brothers.”

“What?”

“Brothers. They aren’t my friends. They’re my brothers, Sunshine, and when one of us is in some shit, we’re all in it. No one gets left behind, or out.”

“So, if one of you starts a freaking bar fight…” I trail off.

“Then we all fight,” he finishes with a smile. “Don't worry, though, I can protect you.” Looking behind him, he watches Seth standing with Mara and shakes his head.

“I don’t need protecting, Kash.”

“Humor me, Sunshine.”

“Stop calling me that! I have a name.” I don’t want him calling me some pet name he’s probably used on a dozen other girls. I don’t know why it stings, but it really does.

“Then give it to me.” He steps closer into my space.

The tips of his shoes touch mine, making me crane my head back just to meet his eyes. The intense look in them gives me pause. “Why? Why should I give you my name?”

“I need to know what name to call out when I’m stroking my cock later on.”

“Excuse me?” There is no way he just said that to me.

“Name.”

“Dude. What the hell was all that?” Rhett interrupts and shoves Atlas. Him and Cora have finally made it back outside.

“Hey. Stop. There’s been enough fighting. Are you okay, Kash?” Her concerned eyes land on Kash. I almost laugh. Somehow, I think Kash is fine.

“Don’t you worry about me. I’m better than okay. Been a while since I’ve been in a bar fight.”

“Mila! Let’s go!” Mara shouts from behind me. I was so engrossed in my conversation with Kash, I didn’t realize she was already walking toward the car, not waiting to see if we were following.

“Good night, Mila.” Kash’s voice cuts out low behind me, his hand snaking out to grab me.

I can feel the heat of his touch through my shirt when he runs his finger down my arm.

The way my name rolls off his tongue sends a shiver through my body.

There’s no way he’s actually going to masturbate like he said, right?

Pulling my arm out of his grasp, I don’t bother with a reply. He’s going to forget all about me in the morning.

Jogging to catch up with Cora and Mara, I steal one final glance over my shoulder. Kash’s eyes are locked on me. The guys are heading toward where I’m assuming they’re parked, and he’s just standing there, watching. “Goodnight, Sunshine!” he calls out. “I’ll be thinking of you.”

Shaking my head, I climb into the back of Mara’s car. “What the fuck was all that?” Mara’s voice booms through the little sedan.

I’m not sure if her question is directed toward me or Cora, so I decide to stay quiet because, honestly, I don’t know what the fuck any of that was.
