Epilogue

Elora

Six months later

“It’s finally finished!” I announced as I led my two favorite ladies into the newly built cabin on my land. All for my future mother-in-law. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Wow!” Kate looked around, her eyes wide, much like her daughter’s get. She ran around her new cottage like a kid on Christmas morning, and I enjoyed watching her enjoy it so much.

Emilia came up beside me and slinked her arms around my waist. She lifted herself onto her tiptoes and pressed her face toward mine, her subtle way of asking for a much-needed kiss. I didn’t hesitate. I would never hesitate to kiss my future wife.

That was right, a glowing diamond ring sat on her ring finger. Along with my grandfather’s ring, which I wore on my pinky, I’d have my wedding band on my ring finger.

For the past six months, Kate had been living with us in my cabin, while a newly built one was custom finished for her. It was move-in day.

Which meant my future wife and I were having really loud sex tonight after being quiet for the past six months.

“How can I ever thank you?” Kate gushed as she hugged me.

“You don’t need to thank me. Your daughter is all I need.” I kissed Emilia gently. “I love you, baby.”

“I love you too.”

“You two cornballs. Kinda makes me want my own boyfriend to share life with.”

Emilia snapped her fingers, her eyes lighting up. “You know, you really should try Mountain Mates, Mom. I saw a flyer at the market the other day. Says all ages can find their true match.”

“There you go, Kate. Maybe you’ll meet your own silver fox mountain man.”

Emilia made a face while Kate bounced on her heels. Hey, older women needed love, too.

“Okay, enough about me. Have you two picked a wedding date yet?”

“No,” I groaned. “Your daughter is stalling.”

“Why?” Kate asked her daughter.

Emilia shrugged. “I don’t know. I want this engagement phase to last a bit longer. Everything moves so fast. I want to slow life down and enjoy it.”

I hugged my future wife tight against me. “I’m totally fine with that. As long as you promise to marry me someday.”

“That’s a promise I’ll never break.”

We remained engaged for another year. Emilia wanted to savor every part of the wedding journey. Plus, we were enjoying watching her mom date again. Her disaster dating stories were hilarious.

After months and months, Kate finally came home engaged.

We turned our planning from a single wedding to a double one.

The final step on my to-do list?

Get my wife pregnant.
