- Present Day -
I blink rapidly, doing a double-take to make sure this isn’t some surreal dream.
There’s no way.
It can’t be her .
My mind has to be playing tricks on me.
My teammates crash into me, cheering along with the crowd as they celebrate our win, and momentarily, my attention is knocked away from the stands.
My heart is racing, blood pounding in my ears, as I desperately crane my neck trying to look around the sea of jerseys on the ice and above all the helmets.
I would know that sweet face anywhere. It has to be real.
But when I look back, when I’m finally able to push through the guys piling around me, she’s gone.
