Chapter 14

“You said you wouldn’t be off the crutches before your brother showed up, but you haven’t even needed the cane today,” I said, cuddling Leith a little closer.

The day after the deck was done, Leith had insisted we go out to get furniture. He settled on two Adirondack chairs and a lounger to match, which we were currently sitting on. He’d also picked out a small table, and a fire pit that was safe to use on the deck. It had a ledge to set things on, but that was too close to the fire for my liking. It didn’t matter though, because it added to the whole ambience. It was late, after ten, but the fire and the blanket we had thrown over us was keeping us warm enough.

“Mmm. Yeah.”

I peered down at him, but I could only see the top of his head. I tried again. “What time are they supposed to get here tomorrow?”

“Noon,” he responded absently.

I slid my hand into his hair, and when he didn’t react, I tightened until the tension gave me a good hold to tilt his head back. In this light, I could only see the blue, those pieces of brown looking like odd extensions of his pupil.

“Where’s your head? Because it’s not here with me.”

“Ouch.” He said, but there was no feeling in it, and since it wasn’t a safeword, I didn’t let go. I just stared him down. His thinking face activated and I waited him out. Eventually, he said, his voice quiet, “Keith and the children arrive tomorrow.”

My brow creased. “That’s what I just said.”

“What happens to us?”

Record scratch. “What now?”

He took a breath, and then his words rushed out. He said he didn’t babble, but in a court of law, I’d hold this moment up as evidence. “We’ve been in our own little bubble for the past fortnight. Other than the occasional intrusion, of course. It’s been us, and our dynamic, and so much sex my ass is sore. In the best possible way. I love it. You know I do. But tomorrow my brother is here, staying in my house, with three impressionable young children who will absolutely pick up if I call you Daddy. And how am I going to go without my Daddy for five whole days?

“But that’s why I was keeping it inside my head. Because it sounds crazy. It’s been fourteen days and there’s no way I should be thinking thoughts about love and—mpfh.”

I cut him off with a kiss, ready to push him under me and ravish him right there for the stars and mosquitos to see. Because in all that word vomit, I heard the most important words. He needed me. Going without me made him sad. And he was thinking about love.

Eventually, I let him breathe without trying to suck his tonsils out of his throat. All he could do was pant and stare at me, the firelight occasionally highlighting his damp and swollen lips. I was absolutely going to give him the dicking of his life tonight. It was necessary at this point. But before that, we had to get something else settled between us.

“I think it’s fine that you’re thinking thoughts about love because I am, too.”

It took him a second, but then his face absolutely lit up. The sheer joy I saw there made me want to kiss him all over again. But he stopped me with a hand on my chest, pushing away just a bit more so he could really study my face.

“You can’t fall in love in a fortnight. It’s impossible.” If he wasn’t so serious, I would have laughed. Instead, I cupped his jaw and smoothed a thumb along his cheekbone.

“Maybe. Maybe not. What I know for sure is you can start falling in a fortnight.”

“You know, it sounds a little silly when you say it. Fortnight, I mean. Not the falling in love part. That part I like.”

I did laugh then, a gentle rolling sound that made Leith smile sweetly. I kissed him, too, a soft peck to his lips. I felt that smile grow. When I pulled back, he moved, straddling my hips. Then he winced, adjusted his leg, and settled more firmly against me.

“I adore you,” I said, getting us back on track. “I wanna ride this thing to the end. I wanna be your Daddy and take care of you. Give you rules and support you. Beat your ass and make you scream. I want it all with you. If it’s not love yet, it has the potential to be. What do you think about that, angel?”

He didn’t respond right away, and that was probably because he was momentarily distracted by my growing hard on. We didn’t have lube out here, which was a gross oversight on my part, and one of us would have to retrieve it soon. I stilled his hips, and he gasped, his gaze shooting to mine.

“It sounds exactly like what I want, Daddy. But what about the children?”

“You’ll just have to be a good boy and watch your words. We’ll figure it out. I’ll give you what you need, even when they’re here. I always take care of you, don’t I?”

“Yes, Daddy,” he answered on a moan. “Please fuck me.”

I chuckled, the sound wicked and dirty. I loved it when I made him so crazy he used curse words. There was something about the way he said it, in that prim and proper tone, that just did it to me.

“Go get the lube. Come back naked.”

Leith all but scrambled off my lap, and I made sure he didn’t get tangled in the blanket. The last thing we needed was a trip to the Emergency Room. I watched him go up the steps and through the door, then started stripping.

What I didn’t say to him, what I would admit later, after we were solid and building our future, was that I had fallen in love with him in just fourteen days. And fortnight would forever be my favorite word.
