Sneak Peek of Double Shot (Goliaths of Wrestling Book 5)

“Oh fuck,” Vince interrupted in a mutter, dark eyes widening as he stared at something behind me.

I glanced back to see what he was looking at. My scalp tingled with awareness when I set eyes on an incubus walking slowly and reluctantly back into the bar area.

That was him. Even if I hadn’t just seen him walk out of the restroom, I would’ve known. My wolf responded to him on sight.

He was so, so pretty. I scanned him quickly, taking in everything I could in the low light of the bar. Dark, messy curls framed a delicate yet masculine face. They reached the collar of his shirt, which was slightly sheer and a pale lilac colour that looked so pretty against his olive skin. It had a couple of buttons undone at the top, showing off a hint of his collarbone. My belly tightened as I took in the elegant slope of his neck, the bob of his Adam’s apple as he swallowed.

My gaze automatically shot down to his hands. Hands that had touched me just a few minutes ago. Beautiful hands, with big knuckles and slender fingers and neatly trimmed nails. He was tugging on the hem of his shirt, almost nervously, and I tensed up when I remembered him saying how much he didn’t like his date.

Returning my gaze to his face, I noticed the expression of mild dread painting his pretty features. He took a deep breath, checked his phone, then headed for a nearby table currently occupied by a single man—looked like a faun—wearing a polka dot yellow and brown shirt, harem pants and sandals. His foot-long billy goat beard was braided and tied off with a yellow bow.

“It’s him,” Vince said in a slightly strangled voice, reminding me that he’d actually been the one to notice the incubus first, though I wasn’t sure why. “Babe. Babe, he’s here.”

Reluctantly tearing my gaze away from the incubus, I watched Vince frantically pat the arm of High Lord Crossbody, his boyfriend and a royal fae who’d renounced his princely title to continue his career as a professional wrestler.

Crossbody turned from chuckling about something with Carl and Mads, still smiling as he draped an arm around Vince’s shoulder and sipped his drink. “Hmm?”

“Pervy motel incubus is here,” Vince muttered to him, slipping his arm around the fae’s waist.

Crossbody stilled, his eyes widening, before he peered over Vince’s head and caught sight of the incubus, who’d just given his date an uneasy smile and sat back down at their table. My chest tightened a little.

I wanted to go over there and rescue him. He looked uncomfortable.

I didn’t like the thought of that guy making him uncomfortable.

“Has he seen us?” Crossbody muttered to Vince.

“Don’t think so.” Vince peered over, then angled both himself and Crossbody so my bulk was blocking them from sight. “Thank fuck. We’ll stick to this corner until he leaves.”

“Don’t worry, darling,” Crossbody drawled, then shot me, of all people, a sly grin. “He’s moved on from us anyway, remember? Brian’s his new obsession.”

I jolted in shock, wanting to take a few steps back as the focus suddenly shifted to me. “Me? What?”

“Oh shit, yeah.” Vince snickered, pointing at me with his beer. “Don’t you remember? He was hella into you when he met you at the meet and greet a couple months ago. Bought a pair of your shorts and made you sign them.”

I stared at the pair of them in stunned silence for a second, then looked over at the incubus again.

That had been him ?
