B lue waved me over before I even got to the coffee table.

“Aponi,” she said, “this is Tag. Faron’s teammate.”

I sized him up—tall, ex-military build, sharp eyes that missed nothing.

He took one look at the note and his jaw clenched.

“Do you have any idea who’s behind this?”

“No. And I don’t like being in the dark. I’m sure I have lots of enemies.”

“You got a tail?”

“Not that I’ve seen.”

He nodded. “You do now.”

I blinked. “Excuse me?”

He looked straight at me. “You’re Faron’s sister. That makes you my problem. I’m your tail.”
