Chapter 11

CHAPTER ELEVEN

Titan

Ishould’ve known better than to get my hopes up. I should’ve known it would end like this.

We wanted more than we deserved, and we reached for the stars to take it.

Now Dalia is dead.

After her sisters arrived, I moved away from everyone.

I can’t look at her dead body because I know she’s only dead because of us.

She was a test, and we failed miserably.

Will we turn into revenants now? It’s what we deserve.

Or will her sisters bring about our final end?

We killed our mate.

No one can come back from that—even if it wasn’t intentional.

“Fuck. Dying sucks.”

I frown, my head jerking toward the sound of Dalia’s voice, highly confused.

Morrigan helps her sit up, and all I can do is blink at them.

She’s not dead? How?

“I don’t understand,” I say, stepping toward them. “You were dead.”

Dalia grins. “I probably should’ve told you that you couldn’t actually kill me before the kissing started. Sorry about that.”

“Seriously, Dal?” Phoebe snorts.

Dalia reaches for Blaze, who scrambles away from her as if her touch is poisonous—although it’s really that his is. But it’s not just his, is it? It’s all three of ours.

She heaves a sigh. “Moirai cannot be killed like most supernaturals. There are three of us, and our powers are connected to one another. While we can technically die, as long as one of us remains alive, we can be revived. The only way for us to die permanently is for all of us to die, then the power passes to the next moirai triplets.”

“But wouldn’t they be children?” Goat asks, and I want to smack him.

Who the hell cares about other moirai when the one we killed is suddenly alive?

Morrigan shakes her head. “Every hundred years or so, a new set of moirai triplets is born. There are always multiple sets to whom the power can pass to if the current ones die. It’s a failsafe.

We were already fifty when the power passed to us.

Unless the only set of moirai triplets living are children, it will never go to them. ”

“I’d love to explain the moirai to all of you at some point,” Dalia says as she pushes to her feet. “But now is not the time. I have three mates that I need to convince aren’t going to kill me if they touch me.”

Dragon snorts. “I mean, they kind of already did.”

She pins him with a glare. “You’re not helping.”

“Uhh…I think we’re going to go back to our room,” Goat says slowly as he yanks Dragon away from the kitchen. “If you need us, just let us know.”

Then, they’re gone.

“Do none of you have anything to say?” Dalia asks, glancing between the three of us.

Steel is still kneeling on the floor, but Blaze has his back plastered against the wall as he watches her wearily.

I don’t fucking blame him, considering she was dead just minutes ago from our touch.

“Maybe they’ll feel better if we talk it out, Dal.” Phoebe drops into one of the chairs. “You were fine when you kissed one of them.”

“I was. I felt nothing except the mate bond thrumming inside me.” She hesitates. “Something felt a little off when I kissed Steel while Blaze held me. When I kissed Titan, all three of them were touching me.”

Morrigan hums. “We’re hard to kill, so it makes sense that one of them touching you didn’t kill you.”

“Sorry, sis,” Phoebe sing-songs. “It looks like no orgies for you.”

“Umm…wrong.” Dalia grins. “It just means they can’t all touch me at once. There can definitely still be orgies.”

“How are you grinning and joking right now?” Steel asks, eyebrows raised. “You just died because we touched you.”

She shrugs. “But I’m not dead, am I? It was good that we got that out of the way. Now we know, only one of you can touch me at a time. A little bit of a pain in the ass, but that’s easy enough to work around.”

My frown only deepens. “What do you mean, work around?”

“We’re mates, so we’re going to have sex. It just means I can’t have you fill up all of my holes at once. We can only do one at a time.”

Morrigan throws her hands in the air. “And on that note, I’m getting the fuck out of here. I know the three of you are freaking out right now, but you will not kill her permanently. We’ll know if she dies, and we’ll come running.”

Phoebe nods. “It’s not even remotely close to the first time we’ve had to revive each other. We won’t mind. Especially since she found her mates. Congrats on that, Dalia.”

“Thanks.” She shoots her sisters a grin. “I don’t know when I’ll be home.”

“Take your time,” Phoebe assures her, shooting me a wink before she saunters out the door.

Morrigan waves her hand in the air. “Try not to freak out too much. Fated mates don’t come along every day—especially not for dead men.”

Then she’s gone too, leaving us alone with Dalia.

Our fucking mate.

Who we killed.

Who is looking at us like she wants to eat us alive.

Or ride our cocks.

“You should go with your sisters,” Steel tells her, his jaw clenching as he stands.

I grunt, unsure if I’m agreeing or disagreeing with him.

Part of me wants to get far away from Dalia—to make sure none of us can hurt her again.

But the other part?

The selfish part?

It wants to ravish her—rip her clothes off and yank her down on my aching cock.

Because it is—aching, I mean.

I don’t know when it went from soft to erect again, but it’s damn well trying to burst out of my pants right now.

“And why would I want to do something silly like that?” Dalia asks, taking a step toward him. Her smile only grows when he takes a step back. They continue until Steel’s back is pressed against the island counter, but Dalia doesn’t stop there.

No, she continues to step forward as Steel raises his arms as if to ward her off. “No. Stop. Don’t touch me.”

Her smile falters for a moment, her head tilting to the side as she considers him. “Are you only saying that because you killed me?”

“Of course he’s saying it because we killed you,” Blaze yells, stepping toward her. “I’m really fucking glad you’re alive—like over the moon ecstatic—but we’re never touching again. Fated mates or not, we can’t take that chance.”

She rolls her eyes. “I’ll be fine as long as all three of you don’t touch me at once. I’m pretty sure two of you at once will be fine, but I don’t want to traumatize you further, so we won’t chance that.”

My hands clench at my sides as her eyes find me. I’m afraid I’ll reach out to her.

“Don’t make me beg, Titan. I’m alive and still breathing. You can see that.”

I nod slowly before forgetting she can’t see my head. “I can see that, but what if you and your sisters are wrong? What if you die because we touched you for too long?”

“I won’t.”

“You don’t know that,” I tell her, stepping around the counter and stopping about five feet away from her. “You can’t guarantee that.”

She nods. “You’re right. I can’t guarantee it, but my gut is telling me as long as all three of you aren’t touching me at once, I’ll be fine.

Your powers aren’t strong enough to kill me unless it’s all three of you.

Plus, you just watched my sisters bring me back.

It’s not like death is permanent for me. ”

“That doesn’t fucking matter,” Blaze growls, and I lift my eyebrows.

Where did my golden retriever lover go? He’s acting more like me and Steel right now.

The smile falls off her face as she turns to face him, taking a hesitant step toward him, but he doesn’t move away. He’s too angry, too distressed, and too overwhelmed to think about what touching her will do right now.

Until her hand lands on his chest, and his eyes widen in horror. He tries to take a big step backward, but she just follows him—her hand never moving away from his chest.

“I don’t care how long I have to stand here while touching you—I will show you that one of you alone won’t kill me.

” She glances over her shoulder. “I know you want me. I know you feel the bond between us, and I’m not willing to give that up.

So, get with the program and believe me.

Until then, I’ll stand here touching Blaze. ”

I’m practically holding my breath as she not only continues to touch him, but moves closer until her body is flush with his.

Blaze’s eyes fall shut as he shudders. I can’t see his cock from here since Dalia’s blocking my view, but I know he’s just as hard as I am.

I don’t know how much time passes—it somehow feels both like seconds and like hours pass until Blaze ducks down to kiss her.

I turn to Steel. “Are we really doing this?”

“I…I don’t know.” He shakes his head. “I don’t think this is a decision I can make for us. Blaze appears to have made his decision, but we’re going to have to decide on our own.”

Blaze has definitely made his choice as he lifts her in the air, her legs locking around his hips, and starts down the hallway toward our shared bedroom.

“I don’t think I can stay away,” I admit.

He doesn’t answer me right away as we watch the pair until they disappear.

“I don’t think I can either.”

Well, shit.

I guess we are doing this.

With one more shared glance, Steel and I head down the hallway after them.
