Chapter 28 #2
Connal tugged Luke forward and he ended up straddling Connal’s lap. “You are…”
“Sexy? Incredible? Awesome? There are so many good adjectives.”
Connal leaned in and pressed his forehead to Luke’s. “Mine.”
Luke’s breath caught and he knew with absolute certainty that he was, in fact, Connal’s. “I really am.”
Connal lifted Luke easily and stood with the casual grace of a warrior lifting a puny human weight. Luke grinned and nipped at Connal’s neck. “Why do you sound surprised?” Connal huffed. “I’ve been telling you for days.”
“Do you think I believed you?” Luke teased his way up to Connal’s ear. “I thought you were some really sexy but totally bat-shit crazy lunatic.”
Connal dropped Luke onto the bed and glared down at him. “What is bat-shit in this context?”
Luke laughed. “Don’t worry about it. I don’t think that anymore.”
“No?”
Connal didn’t look convinced.
Luke didn’t blame him.
“I changed my mind.”
Connal went still.
Luke smiled. “About waiting.”
For once, Connal had absolutely nothing to say. That alone was almost worth it.
Luke curled his fingers into the front of Connal’s shirt and pulled him closer. “You told me the bond wouldn’t change anything unless I chose it.”
“Yes.”
Connal looked adorably confused.
“And you said when I was ready, I’d know.”
Connal’s expression changed. He climbed between Luke’s legs and pressed their chests together. He stared into Luke’s face, hope replacing confusion.
Luke grinned. He understood now. Luke’s heart started pounding, but he didn’t look away. “I know.”
“Luke, are you saying—”
“Yes.”
“I need to hear you say it.”
Luke swallowed. This answer felt a hell of a lot bigger than the last one. “I accept you, Connal. I don’t know what being your mate means,” Luke admitted. “Not really. I don’t know what this is going to look like tomorrow or a year from now. But I trust you, and I want to find out.”
Luke didn’t realize how tightly Connal had been holding his emotions until relief crossed his face. Luke would like to pretend he had time to think about it, but a split second later, Connal was on him.
The kiss set Luke’s body ablaze. He wrapped himself around Connal, his legs tight around Connal’s hips, while his hands tugged at the annoying tunic until he could touch the wide expanse of skin on Connal’s back.
Connal groaned and raised his head. “Our clothing is impeding my progress.”
Apparently, the castle took those words as an order, because something sparkly appeared around them and then they were skin-to-skin. It probably should have creeped Luke out, but he’d never been more grateful for magic in his life. “That is so helpful.”
Connal grinned and pressed between them. “Just wait.”
Luke grunted and threaded his fingers through Connal’s hair. “I thought I told you I was done waiting.”
Connal lowered his forehead and pressed it to Luke’s. Then he kissed his way over to Luke’s ear. “We need moonsilk.”
“Moon what no—what in the slippery substance is that!”
Connal laughed. “Do humans not require slick, my mate? I must confess that I have never pleasured a human before, but I am very much looking forward to the experience.”
“We require it, Connal, but normally we handle the putting on of it ourselves!”
Connal reached between them and teased Luke’s entrance. One finger, then another, entered Luke, stretching and testing. “Why must you apply it yourself?” Connal asked. “It’s so much more expedient this way.”
“Expedient. Yep,” Luke groaned. “Fuck, that feels good. And we’ll discuss…moonsilk later. Much later.”
Connal removed his fingers and then wrapped them around his cock. He stroked it, covering it with the…no, Luke couldn’t continue to think about the fae word for lube.
“I fear it will not be much later. I’m…eager to complete our mating.”
Luke understood that. “Same. Come on, big guy. Show me what you’ve got.”
Connal didn’t need another invitation. He pressed forward and aligned himself with Luke’s entrance. The moonsilk really must have been magic, because he slid into Luke with an ease that shouldn’t have been possible considering Connal’s considerable girth.
The man was very well proportioned.
Luke gasped when Connal slid in the final way.
He placed his hands on either side of Luke’s body and began moving.
Hard and fast. He didn’t bother with a warmup, which was convenient since Luke really didn’t want one.
He let himself go, opening himself completely to Connal.
Reaching between them, he grabbed his cock and began stroking himself in a rhythm that matched Connal’s thrusts.
A glowing light emerged from his chest. A matching one came from Connal’s. Between them, the light combined, swirling together and forming runes Luke didn’t understand.
But Connal did. His rhythm didn’t falter, though. Whatever he saw excited him. He reached for Luke’s thighs, pushing them wider and farther apart as he hammered himself into Luke’s body. The change in position worked too well.
Luke grabbed Connal’s wrists and let go as the glow changed, moving back and forth between them. A jolt of pleasure shot through Luke, but not one that was his own.
Connal. That’s what he felt now—Connal’s pleasure. So many more emotions filtered through the bond. They flooded Luke at the same moment his release shot through him. He cried out and let himself go, pushing all of his feelings back toward Connal.
It only took a second to realize it had worked. Connal roared and slammed into Luke one final time, shuddering and groaning until he finally collapsed against Luke’s chest.
“The bond,” Luke said, his breath coming in sharp gasps. “We did it.”
“Yes,” Connal mumbled against Luke’s neck. “I feel you.”
“I feel you too. And hey, you’re entirely too pleased with yourself right now.”
Connal grunted. “I made my mate soar. I am very pleased.”
Well, he wasn’t wrong.
Luke moved his thighs and set his feet back on the bed. He was going to be so sore tomorrow. And he didn’t even care. The happy hum of contentment spread through the bond to him and Luke sank into it. Yeah, he could feel it too.
He’d taken a risk and trusted someone, and it had paid off.
“Now, tell me about this moonsilk…”
Connal’s snore was his only reply.
