Chapter 95 Liza

LIZA

My eyes slowly fluttered open as I tried to make sense of my surroundings. Trying to roll over proved to be much harder than it should have. I shifted from my side to my back, my body unnaturally heavy. What the fuck? Had someone tied weights to my limbs?

I opened my mouth to yell for help, but it was dry and felt like cotton.

I pushed myself upright, grunting from the effort.

Slowly, I looked around the room. Fuck. The memory of the kidnappers came rushing back.

Dominic lying in the grass outside my parents’ home, my mom falling to the ground, the fury running through my body like lava erupting from a volcano, and the sharp pain in my neck. ..

At the thought of it, the delicate skin a few inches below my ear twinged. I reached up and touched the spot, which had formed into a tiny bump. I’d been drugged.

With every ounce of effort, I pushed myself out of the bed and glanced around the room.

It didn’t look anything like a cell or holding room for a prisoner.

The walls were painted a light gray, the ceilings were tall, and a beautiful chandelier hung in the center of the room.

The bed was a four-poster, and every bit of fabric was a bright white.

There was even framed artwork on the walls.

Where the fuck was I?

I had no memory of someone taking me, and had no clue how long I’d been asleep. My stomach growled, but was that because I’d missed one meal or five?

Rushing to the door, I took hold of the golden knob and tried to turn it.

Locked. Why wouldn’t it be? I was a fucking prisoner, after all, just in a gilded cage.

Staring at the door, I weighed my options.

On the one hand, I could shout and scream for help…

but who had taken me? And were they the type of person I wanted rushing in the room?

Would they torture me in some way? Maybe it was best to stay quiet.

It wasn’t like they’d forget I was in there, but at least I could let them think I was still unconscious.

Fuck. Wait. Had I already been sold? The room certainly looked like it belonged to someone rich enough to pay the bounty on an omega’s head.

My hands clenched into fists as a million scenarios ran through my head. I reached into my back pocket, but they’d taken my cell phone. I closed my eyes, trying to calm myself, but it was too late. I’d already reached the tipping point.

Adrenaline rushed through my body as my emotions got the best of me. I grabbed the dresser and held on as the room shook beneath my feet. I was losing control quickly, and once that train started, there was no stopping it.

A voice in my head said my name. My eyes snapped open. Was I imagining it again?

“Liza? Liza? Liza?”

The voice just kept repeating my name over and over again, looking for confirmation that I could hear them.

“Who the fuck are you? What do you want?” My voice came out as a growl, and I glanced in the mirror only to confirm exactly what I’d suspected. My eyes glowed red. My control was slipping away with every passing second.

“Liza? Listen to me. I need you to calm down.”

I was so far past the tipping point, I’d toppled and gone over. I lost all control over my body. The room shook violently as the black consumed me again.

I walk into the bar with my pack, and I scent her straight away.

She’s lying behind the counter with blood trailing from an injury to her head. My desire to protect her stuns me almost as much as her beauty.

But it’s the smell of her blood that stuns me the most—it’s something not quite human.

When she wakes up, her fear tells me all I need to know. She definitely thinks she’s mortal.

I choose to disagree.

I make my pack watch over her while she heals, and she’s surprised I want to protect her. It's obvious she hasn't had good experiences with shifters in the past, but I intend to show her I'm different.

I also need time to find out the truth about her, including why she's being hunted by our kind for reasons I’m yet to understand.

All I know is that whoever this woman really is, she’s special. And she's mine...
