Chapter 26

Gabriel

As much as I hate putting fault on a person without any proof, but with this. I am a thousand percent certain it was my mother who invited her and Mio even proved my theory right. She was invited by my mother to the charity auction.

After two years she is back at the place where it all started and I can smell the evil plan my mother has brewed up.

“Hi Mio. I’m Elena.” Caught by surprise and yet she tries to stay the respectful one when the other is being disrespectful.

Elena stretches her hand out for Mio to take. I watch as my ex wipes her hand in her jeans as she is holding the suitcase before she shakes my fiancé’s hand. “Mio. Might have heard of me.”

“No shit she has.” I murmur and all I get back is a sarcastic smile before she squeezes between us to get through the door, inside the house.

“Not surprised you still talk about me, Gabriel.” She calls out, never looking back once as she walks past the others who are hiding behind the wall like stupid chickens.

“Is she seriously staying here?” Elena asks.

“Seems like she is.” I tell her with honesty because there is no way I can get rid of her. She is hot-headed as fuck and won’t budge.

“Seems like your mother has her wishes and will do anything for them to come true.”

Surprised by her words I turn to look over to her, my mouth gaped open in shock at the mindless words she let slip out of her pretty mouth. “Don’t fucking do this.”

“What?”

“Don’t. I don’t care if she is fucking staying here. Neither should you.”

“Really? She seems like an ex you were fond of. Two years relationship. Great record.” She gives me two thumbs up accompanied with a sarcastic smile. Her mood falls back as she turns around.

“Did you google us?”

“Obviously.” She says as if it’s an obvious thing that she stalked my previous relationship on the internet. I take a closer look at her and she tries to avoid looking me in the eye.

A smirk appears on my lips. “Are you jealous?”

“Me?” She asks me in a shock tone, finally looking at me. She plays it off, waving her hand in the air. “No. No, I don’t do jealous.”

Is she trying to convince me or herself?

“Don’t be. I’m all yours.”

“I’m not.” She snaps but gives me a forgiving look. “Sorry, but for all I care, go for her.” She seems hysterical and she is crazy if she thinks I will go for Mio when I meet her again.

When I am in her presence.

“Not doing it.”

“Okay.” She says in a quieter tone than she had earlier. I watch her as her chest rises in a heavy breath and falls down as she groans in frustration.

It doesn’t matter if she is mad, sad, upset, happy or thrilling or just existing, she is still the most beautiful woman I have ever had the luck to encounter and be able to call mine.

Even if she is a little jealous, it’s cute. It means she feels something for me to get mad that someone else is flirting with me.

That turns me on.

Knowing she gets mad that Mio is here.

I could use it to my advantage.

I want to see her get jealous. Get mad at Mio. It’s fucking hot when a woman is territorial. ??

“I am going to murder her.” She exhales , the words coming out in a high-pitched voice as she turns to me, loudly whispering about her murdering plans towards Mio. She puts her hand in front of her mouth to keep herself from saying more and trying to calm herself. She takes a moment and a deep breath to calm her nerves and herself before she turns back to the conversation.

I smirk wider. Over the course of the afternoon, her jealousy level has risen and I am having a fucking turn on. She might not want to admit it, but she hates how Mio is here and it has gotten the best of her.

I turn the ring in my index finger around on my finger, my thoughts wander off to thoughts I shouldn’t have because it might end up with a situation if I don’t stop.

I groan and shift on my seat, trying to loosen my trousers and keep my dick from straining against the zipper.

In a blink of an eye, I notice her knuckles turn white from gripping on the lounge chair of the garden, a hard expression on her face that I haven’t seen yet but I am delighted.

I smile as I reach for her hand and loosen her grip finger by finger and she relaxes at the touch of mine. Sparks fly as she turns her hand around and I start drawing patterns on her palm, occasionally sparing with her fingers as we fight in a silent war of our touches.

“Gabriel.”

Oh, dear lord. My mother has a not so pleasant expression on her face as she watches me. I raise an eyebrow at her in question and intertwine my fingers between Elena’s. Nothing has felt better than this in any moment.

“How did you and Elena meet?” Mio asks the question instead of my mother, the name of my fiancé coming out as forced. As if it is an insult.

My blood boils at both of them.

“Work event in London.” I repeat the words she told her mother at the dinner.

“How…” Mio drags off. “Boring.”

“Why? Were you expecting a meet cute like in books and he so happens to run me over with his car?” Elena snaps at her and in that moment her patience ran out and she let her thoughts go free.

“Don’t be silly. I just thought maybe you guys might have met at a club. I remember how eight months ago, the news flashed with his name and how his reputation precedes him. Similar to how we met.”

“You broke it off two years ago and somehow you are still clinging to him. It’s kind of pathetic.” Elena says. “Accepting an invite to a family vacation to your ex’s is pathetic. You know he has a fiancé and somehow you are still trying to shoot your shot.”

“I am not trying, silly girl. I am.”

“And yet you wonder why you are so miserable.” I watch her with much admiration as those words slip from her lips. I chuckle as Mio stares at her with her mouth open and Elena is clearly panicking. I shook my head as she was about to apologise. She clamps her lips shut and leans back in her lounge chair seat and a small laugh slip past her.

“What the fuck is that supposed to mean?”

“It means exactly what she said. You are miserable trying to get me back.” I taunt her. She stares at me with an angry expression.

“Who knows, right?” She shrugs off my words and arches an eyebrow at Elena. “This is just the beginning.”

“What is supposed to mean what?” Elena asks her in a cool tone, an obvious smile still curled on her lips.

“It means that by the end of this vacation, that the ring on your finger will become meaningless.”

“Really?” Elena laughs at Mio’s words. “I got the ring after eight months. What did you get after those two years? A pity fuck maybe but definitely a breakup.”

Mio opens her lips to talk and shuts them close when not a single word comes out. Silence swims in the air as everyone is looking at everyone. I take a look around everyone. Charles and Nicole grinning and trying to hold in their laughter. My mother looks like she is about to burst into flames.

“It’s getting late. Shall we all retire to our rooms and get ready for the event?” My younger brother asks , hoping to get the tension to cool down.

“I am leaving,” Elena says in a clipped tone and gets up from her seat. I get up from my seat but she stops me. “You can stay if you want, I am not going to boss you around.”

“I am leaving,” I say. I reach for her hand that hangs loosely by her hip and pull her with me to the house.

I will always leave with her.
