Chapter Six

He sits up, looking at me. “So, do you have anyone in mind?”

I turn to face him, hoping this will go over well. “As a matter of fact, I do. I was thinking we could invite Nikos over to join us.”

He eyes me curiously, probably thinking this is some kind of joke. “Nikos? As in your boss at the hotel?”

I nod, realizing I must have shocked him. “Yes, exactly.”

“Sweetheart, don't you think that's a little too risky? I mean, you guys work together. If we tell him about this, whether he agrees to do it or not would be irrelevant. You'd be exposing a very personal side of you-of us- to a complete stranger. I'm not sure it’s such a good idea, Lisa.”

I look into his solemn face and have to agree. “Well, if you rationalize it so much, yes, at first it might not look like the smartest thing to do, but we don’t know all that many people we could trust to keep a secret like that and I know he is a responsible, trustworthy man. And with him going through divorce proceedings, I think it will be good for him, too. If he agrees, that is.”

“Have you considered the possibility of it not working out between you two after?”

“You mean him letting me go from work, after?”

He nods, a deep frown creasing his forehead. “Yes. Are you willing to chance it since you always tell me how much you love this job and how well he’s been treating you?”

I sit up better and flex my fingers, cracking my knuckles until the snapping sound stops and the tension is relieved. “Yes, I am. I’ve thought about it. I won’t lie,” I say, sighing. “He’s a nice guy, Tom. I’m sure you guys could be great friends if you got to know each other a little better.”

“If we do this, it's going to take our relationship to a whole other level. You have to seriously think about it.”

“Don’t you think it’d turn you on more if you saw me with another man? I know I would.”

“See me with another man?”

“Come on, Tom. You know what I mean.”

“I’m just teasing you, babe.”

“Does that mean you’re agreeing?” I ask, excitement lacing my voice.

His smile is all the answer I need. “Well, I’m not entirely opposed, to be honest. It’s kind of a turn-on now that I think about it.”

“Exactly. Assuming he’s not a lousy lover and we have to endure a whole session of boring fucking, I’m sure it will be an unforgettable experience for both of us.”

“Well, I’ll leave the details up to you. I’m sure you’ll do a great job at making the arrangements.”

I nudge his side, smiling. “Perfect. I’ll see if I can find him online and work out how to casually suggest that we need his services.”

He cracks a smile, then turns on his side, turning off the light. “Just behave yourself, alright? Things may not go as you plan.”

“Will do, darling. I promise.”
