Chapter Five.
As Frost and the others followed Constance home, he couldn’t help but wonder where her husband was. It didn’t go unnoticed by him that she wore a wedding ring. It wasn’t anything obnoxious, just a simple silver band, so thin he barely saw it. Still, it was there.
When her SUV’s brake lights appeared, he watched her blinker signal her turn coming up. When the other brothers waved as they rolled towards Big Star Ranch and the clubhouse Frost followed Jinx as he turned into her driveway.
“Husband’s ride’s nice.” Frost said as Constance closed the door of her minivan.
She wanted to tell him, she was a widow, that the car was hers and had never been Peter’s.
It was so typical of a man to assume the car was her husband’s.
If Frost was so quick to assume that, she wouldn’t correct him.
He was probably the type of man that didn’t think women should be driving muscle cars.
Hell, he probably thought she couldn’t handle herself but most days she could.
Instead, she just smiled, “thanks,” was all she said.
“Would you like us to look around?” Frost asked her.
When Jinxed shook his head at him with what could only be described as an eyeroll Frost ignored him.
“No one has ever followed me home.” He heard her say.
“Alright, you have Jinx’s number if you have any trouble.” Frost told her as he stepped back towards his bike.
“Actually,” Jinx said stopping Frost, “I’m headed out of town for the next two days. You got your club card on you?”
Frost tugged on his wallet chain pulling his wallet free from his jeans back pocket. Opening it he pulled out a business card and walked back over to Constance.
When she took it he brushed his thumb over hand before letting go. “Call me if you need anything.” He told her then walked back to his bike. He didn’t wait for a response.
Something about the woman was climbing under his skin and that wasn’t a good thing. She was married and he didn’t do married women no matter how fucking sexy they were.
“Listen Constance, I’m gonna send a friend—a brother to the food bank in the morning to put up cameras. His name is Cipher. Be nice to him.” Jinx told her with a smirk.
“Cipher. Got it.” She told Jinx even as her eyes tracked Frost. “Does he like muffins?”
“I don’t think he’d say no to them.” Jinx told her a little jealous that Cipher would get muffins for just putting cameras up. “Maybe I’ll stop by and grab one of those muffins.”
“Thought you were heading out of town.” Frost called after Jinx. The brother needed to keep his lies right.
“I am, asshole. Don’t be jealous that I might get one of her muffins.”
“Yeah, but those will be leftovers that Cipher doesn’t eat.” Frost said, his voice laughed with humor.
Firing up his bike he slapped his helmet on then left Jinx standing in Constance’s front yard shaking his head.
With a last-minute nod he gave her a wink then shifted gears and rolled out of the driveway.
When he hit the road, he twisted the throttle and shifted through the gears leaving just the sound of his pipes trailing behind him.

Jinx found Frost sitting at the bar just where he’d found him earlier. Saddling up next to him he asked Twyla for a beer. “You left in a hurry.” He said as he looked over at Frost.
Frost lifted his whiskey glass to his mouth, “you had it handled.” He said before letting the glass touch his lips.
Undertaker stepped up and chuckled when Twyla handed him the beer that she was about to hand Jinx. “Thanks Hun.”
“Hey, that was my beer.”
“Sometimes it’s good to be president.” Undertaker said with a laugh.
Taking a pull on the beer Undertaker watched as Wolf and Rev stepped up to the bar and started talking about Constance France. His neighbor. Setting his beer down he leaned on the bar listening more intently.
“What’s Constance having an issue with?” Undertaker asked not liking the conversation that included her.
Frost and Jinx both looked over at him, but it was Frost who asked the big question, a question that he should’ve kept to himself. “How do you know her?”
Undertaker lifted a brow at the question, it felt almost accusatory. “Not that it’s any of your business, but I met her when she first moved into her place six months ago.” He told Frost firmly. “Now, tell me what’s going on with Constance.”
Jinx along with Frost explained what was happening with Undertaker’s neighbor and that Jinx knew her from offering to volunteering at the food bank.
“I was going to ask Cipher to put cameras up for her.” Jinx told Undertaker.
Taking a sip of his beer Undertaker watched the tick in Frost’s jaw.
“Maybe we should leave it to her husband to take care of. Although the man never even poked his head out while we were there.” Frost said between sips of his whiskey.
“If I had a wife that looked like her, I would make sure other men knew she was taken,” he added.
“Well, if you see her husband poke his head out, take a fucking picture. The man’s been dead for years according to Constance.” Undertaker said as he lifted his beer to his lips.
Frost’s head snapped around staring at Undertaker, whiskey choked him. “What did you say?”
“Constance France is a widow.”
“She could’ve said that.” Frost mumbled.
“What was that Frost?” Undertaker asked.
“Nothing.”
Undertaker chuckled hearing Frost. It seemed Constance France had made the man uncomfortable in the right way. Maybe something would come of it, and he’d stick around Broken Bow.
“Maybe, you could do some security at the food bank until we can find out who these assholes are that are bothering her.” Undertaker suggested to Frost.
“Is that a directive from the chapter president?”
“Take it anyway you’d like.” Undertaker said then sat the bottle on the bar and walked away leaving Frost to decide on his own what he should do.
