Chapter Nine.
A kiss on her forehead was what she got as Frost untangled from around her giving Constance an unwanted sense of relief. She simply needed a moment to deal with her emotions. He was the first man she’d slept with since her husband and only the second man she’d ever slept with.
Constance worried about her ability to satisfy a man like Frost. He hadn’t complained about a single moment the night before. Insecurity crawled over her, was he leaving? Watching through hooded eyes as he walked to the bathroom.
She couldn’t help but appreciate his attributes. Hmmm nice ass, she reminded her that’s how this started. She got her answer about him leaving when she heard the shower turn on.
Moving the covers aside Constance shoved into a seated position and pulled on her bathrobe that was laying on the side chair. Standing up she tied it closed and made her way down the little corridor that connected the bedroom to the other side of the house.
The smell of fresh brewed coffee brightened her day. Right on time, it was the one constant that she counted on every day. Pulling down to mugs she started pouring coffee when the shower turned off.
The smell of a fresh showered man filtered into the kitchen alerting her that Frost had entered her tiny kitchen. It seemed smaller than usual with him in it.
Before she could turn to face him, a hand snaked around her gripping the counter pushing her firmly against it. Her ass cheek was now firmly in his other hand. Constance knew she was going to be late for work. Because this was exactly how morning sex started.
Before she could react, Frost let go, snagging a mug and stepping back like he hadn’t just wrecked her concentration entirely. When Constance turned, she caught the smirk on his face—lazy, satisfied, and entirely unapologetic.
She opened her mouth to say something clever. Nothing came out. The towel wrapped low around his waist didn’t hide much, and her gaze betrayed her before she could stop it.
“Morning,” she finally managed, lifting her own mug and taking a sip as if she weren’t still very aware of him.
Frost stepped back into her space, close enough to steal her breath. “Morning,” he murmured, kissing her—soft, unhurried—before settling his hip against the counter beside her, like he belonged there. And somehow, impossibly, it already felt like he did.
“What’s your day look like?” she asked, grasping for conversation as she stood there, naked beneath her robe, still wrapped in the warmth of him.
She knew what hers consisted of, finding a glass shop that can replace the door and side window at the food bank.
Frost set his mug aside. Reaching out, he caught the belt of her robe and tugged it loose with an easy confidence. When the fabric fell open, his gaze swept over her like he was taking inventory of something precious. Crooking a finger, he silently called her to him.
Constance stepped closer.
His hands settled on her hips, drawing her in until there was no space left to question. “I’m with you all day, sugar.”
The way he touched her made her feel beautiful—unrushed, claimed in the gentlest way. His thick southern accent sent shivers straight down her spine, and the way his eyes lingered, unhurried and appreciative, stole her breath in the best possible way.
“Well…” She glanced at the clock, grounding herself. “I should probably get cleaned up so we can get to work on time. We have a door to get replaced and a mess to clean up.”
“Don’t,” Frost murmured, his mouth brushing her collarbone.
She tilted her head back, giving him access. “Don’t what?”
“Don’t wash me off.”
The request sent heat blooming across her cheeks. Could she really go into work knowing she still carried him on her skin?
“Do it for me.”
“I still need to put clothes on,” she said lightly. “Unless you want other men to see me naked.”
Frost stilled immediately, lifting his head. His expression sharpened. “That’s not funny.”
Constance smirked and swatted at him, laughter easing the tension. When he finally let her go, she sauntered back toward the bedroom to get dressed—trying, and failing, to wrap her head around the fact that she was sleeping with… maybe dating…
A biker.
