Chapter 41 Noah

Noah

“Look, Miss Drama, I am sick and tired of talking to this goddamn answering machine. I know you’re there, so pick up! Pick up!

“Okay, it’s like that, huh?

“I know you’re working, Miss Thing. It’s all over the wire, so I better get my rent money and soon. What do you think? The house is paying for itself?

“And send my money Western Union; I don’t want to hear no shit about the check is in the mail.

“In fact, fuck that, deposit my money in my account, take your little narrow ass right down to Citibank and deposit my fucking money!

“CHEVY!

“I don’t know why I let you take me there. Why do you take me there? All you have to do is—”

Beeeeeeeeeeeeeep.

I was so disgusted, I threw the phone across the room and it shattered on impact against the wall, then fell to the floor in a crumpled heap of plastic, wire, and microchips.

I was mad, mad as hell, and not at Miss Drama!

“When should we do it?” he asked, beaming at me across the room.

“You’re an eager little bunny,” I snapped.

Zhan didn’t say a word. He knew that if he even looked at me wrong, I would use that as a reason to start an argument and then I could renege on my agreement!

“I don’t care,” I finally said, when Zhan didn’t bite.

Now the date was set for next Friday at the Savoy Hotel.

What had I done?
