Chapter 8 First Day Back
The new semester began.
Everyone was still half-asleep from the long break.
A sudden gasp shattered the quiet.
Sheng Yichuan stood at the classroom door.
He was holding an exaggerated gift box in his arms.
Whispers erupted around the room.
“Who is that?”
“You don’t know Sheng Yichuan? He’s a legend at our school.”
“Isn’t he the Second Heir whose family donated an entire building?”
“That’s him!”
The girl beside me was practically vibrating with excitement.
“Finally seeing Sheng Yichuan in person! I heard he’s a bit of a slacker, but he treats his girlfriends really well!”
“Hey, Chen Songhe, who do you think he’s here for?”
I didn’t even look up. “No idea.”
I wasn’t interested.
I was busy texting Sheng Yan.
Me: [What are you doing?]
Sheng Yan: [In a meeting.]
Me: [Did you take the photos I asked for last night?]
Sheng Yan: […Chen Songhe, don’t push it.]
Me: [(pitiful) You really didn’t? Then I won’t be happy all day.]
It took him a long time to reply.
Eventually, he sent a photo.
He was wearing a suit, kneeling on the floor, tie blindfolding his eyes.
The fabric of his suit pants stretched tight over his thighs, showing the clear results of his training.
This was the “homework” I had assigned him last night.
Sheng Yan asked reluctantly: [Happy now?]
Me: [Yes! Who needs those male fitness accounts anymore? You look better than all of them!]
Sheng Yan: [Don’t save it.]
Too late. Already saved.
Just as I was enjoying the view, the classroom fell silent.
Everyone’s eyes turned toward me.
I turned off my screen and looked up.
Sheng Yichuan was standing right in front of my desk.
“Classmate, can I add your WeChat?”
Oh. Right.
He still didn’t know we were already friends.
I thought for a second and said, “Sure, but—”
“Great. My name is Sheng Yichuan. This is a little gift for our first meeting. Let’s grab a meal together sometime.”
He took out his phone to scan my code.
“By the way, I don’t know your name yet.”
“Chen Songhe.”
I answered with a smile.
