Chapter 28 Jace #2

His eyes slowly flutter open, and he blinks a few times as he stares at me with a look of awe and wonder, and I know deep down that he’s never looked at anyone else like that before.

“Wow.” He smiles as color floods his face. “That was a hell of a first kiss.”

“It was,” I say with a grin. “Your blush seems to agree.”

“Ugh,” he groans dramatically and rubs his hand over his cheek. “I swear you’re the only person who can make me blush,” he accuses teasingly.

“Now imagine how much you’ll be blushing later when I have my mouth on other parts of you.”

He rolls his eyes, but his grin is wide and bright and so damn happy it makes more of those good feels ripple through me.

Jax was right; making the person you love happy really is the most satisfying feeling in the world.

“Not to kill the mood, but what are we going to do about Dan?” he asks, his eyes clouding over.

“What do you want to do about it?”

“What are our choices?”

“We have all the evidence we need to turn him in, and I’m sure Carter and the others will be able to find more in his room and his devices. And I’m guessing his older brother was the original mole, and he just took up the mantle now that he’s the one who’s here.”

His eyes darken. “His brother is the one who was blackmailing KJ. He’s the one who threatened to out my brother to extort him, and then Dan tried to make me think you were going to do the same thing and that you were the one who was behind all of this. But why?”

“Why would Dan try to frame me?”

He nods.

“No clue. But I’m guessing he thought he could sow some discord between us and get us off his tail.

I doubt he knows about me, but he knows I don’t have any issues dealing with people who piss me off, and you’re not the most rational person when you’re pissed off.

He might have thought that one of us would end up seriously hurting or even killing the other, and that it would shake up the leadership if we couldn’t work together. ”

“What’s the other option if we don’t turn him in?”

“I’ll kill him,” I say simply. “And I’ll hunt his brother down and make sure he gets his too.”

Shane grins. “It’s fucked up that you saying you’ll kill people who wronged me is so damn hot.”

“You’re a freak like me, admit it.”

He leans in and presses a soft kiss against my lips. “I admit it. I’m a freak like you.”

“What do you want me to do?”

“I want you to kill both of them, but we should turn them in. This is bigger than just us, and who knows if there are more people involved or how deep this really goes.”

I nod. “A wise and mature decision. Can I at least teach him a lesson before we do? Nothing permanent, just to remind him what happens when you fuck with me and mine.”

Shane grins. “Only if I get to be there and remind him too.”

“Deal.” I take his hand and lace our fingers together. “This doesn’t feel weird. I always assumed it would.”

“Same, but it isn’t.” He gives my hand a little squeeze. “What are we going to do about the house leadership?”

“What do you mean?”

“How can we be leaders if we’re together?”

“There’s nothing in the rules that says we can’t be,” I tell him. “So anyone who has a problem with it can fuck all the way off, or get the fuck out.”

“You really think it’s going to be that simple?”

“Yup.”

“This is another one of those times where your arrogance is comforting.”

“Is it arrogance if it’s true?”

He grins, but instead of saying anything, he leans in and kisses me again.

This time things don’t stay sweet for long, and by the time we pull apart, we’re both breathing hard and Shane is practically in my lap.

“Bed?” he asks.

“Bed,” I agree. “We’ll deal with everything in the morning.”

“Morning?”

“You’re staying over,” I tell him.

“I am?” He grins again, wider this time. “What about Jax?”

“He’s staying at Myles’s, so we have the place to ourselves.”

He climbs off my lap and yanks me up off my chair. “I hope your neighbors don’t mind noise.”

“No neighbors,” I tell him with a grin. “The room next door is empty, and so is the one across from us.”

“How the fuck did you manage that?” He pulls me toward my bed. “Hacking?”

“Hacking,” I confirm.

He laughs and shoves me down on the mattress. “Thank fuck for small favors, because I’m not in the mood to be quiet.”

I grip his thighs as he straddles my hips and presses his hard cock down on mine. “Good, because neither am I.”

He wraps his hands around my wrists and pins them to the bed. “Bring it.”

I lean up and press a kiss against his lips. “Gladly.”

Smiling, Shane kisses me hard and deep, and I lie back against the bed and enjoy his attentions while I wait for my moment to turn the tables on him and see just how deeply I can make him blush when I make good on my earlier promise.

I might not be able to feel things like other people, but I know deep down in my soul that Shane is the one exception to that rule.

He might be mine, but I’m also his, and I dare anyone to try and get between us, because I guarantee it will be the last thing they do.
