Chapter Eighteen

Maverick “Viking”

Two weeks later…

We are all finally home from the hospital. I made sure Ana and Ice were comfortable in bed while I cook them something to eat.

We had been living off of take-out for too many weeks, and I’m getting sick of it.

I’m not the best cook but am going to try my best to make them a good homecooked meal.

I turn on some music as I start cooking some pasta for them.

Pasta should be easy enough not to screw up.

I get so lost in the music and start dancing, shaking my ass while I cook, that I don’t hear them come in.

I jump with a scream when I see them both standing in the doorway grinning at me.

“Babe, I never knew you could move your hips like that,” Ice says with a laugh.

“You guys are supposed to be upstairs,” I say with a groan of embarrassment.

“Whatever you were making smelled good, so we had to check it out,” Ana says with a smile.

“It’s almost done,” I tell them.

“Don’t stop on our account. Keep dancing,” Ice says as he and Ana both sit down at the island chairs.

I shake my head and finish up cooking.

I set the table and get everyone drinks before we all move to sit at the kitchen table.

The dinner is filled with small talk, but I have a feeling we are going to have that conversation as soon as it’s over.

Once we are all done eating, we move to the living room where no one speaks for a long time.

“I think we need to talk. It’s clear we all have something to say,” I tell them.

“I’ll go first,” Ice says.

We both don’t say anything while he figures out what he’s trying to say.

“I was letting my insecurities get the best of me and letting them ruin what I think could be amazing. Before I passed out, I was regretting not telling you guys how I felt. I don’t want to hold it all in anymore,” Ice states. He blows out a big breath before he continues.

“I felt an instant connection to you guys, but I stayed away, only wanting to be friends because you guys were married. I didn’t want to get in the middle of you two and ruin your marriage. Every day, it was harder and harder to stay away. When I became your friend, it was to have a piece of you guys, even if that was all I would ever get. As much as I wanted it, I was still worried I was going to get tossed aside once the excitement of us died out. Being tossed aside by you guys was my biggest concern, and that’s what made me keep you guys out. I thought I could save myself the hurt.”

“Every relationship comes with a risk. You are trusting that person or people not to break your heart. Being vulnerable with them and giving them yourself. I took that risk when I wanted to try a relationship with you and Maverick. I wasn’t sure Maverick had changed, and I wasn’t sure you weren’t here for him only. We all have our insecurities. By all of us not communicating them, it had caused a wedge in between all of us,” Ana tells us.

I hear everything they are saying.

“I want this with you two. I know I have been an asshole and screwed up in the past, but I will do everything I can not to make those mistakes again. I found what I had been looking for in the two of you. I can’t remember any time I have been happier than when I’m with the two of you. We will have bad days and arguments but, at the end of the day, I want it to be you two. Through everything in life, I want you two by my side,” I tell them.

“I have wanted to call you Maverick for a long time, but I was avoiding saying it to keep from getting hurt. It felt more real when I thought of your name coming out. I almost said it so many times, but I kept stopping myself,” Ice says.

“You can say it when you are ready. I don’t want to pressure you into something you don’t want,” I tell him.

“You aren’t pressuring me. I want to hear the name ‘Levi’ coming from both of you. I almost feel desperate for it,” he says to us.

“I’ve been waiting so long to hear you say that,” Ana says with a smile.

“This is it? We are going to officially make this work between the three of us?” I ask them.

“Yes, we are,” Levi says with a smile.

Ana nods her head in agreement.

“We can’t fuck until Levi is better. I’m not risking hurting him,” I tell them.

They both look disappointed at my words, but they reluctantly agree.

I know it has been a couple weeks, but I still want to be sure we don’t do anything to put him at risk.

Plus, Ana needs a lot of rest too. She’s getting bigger and is tired more often.

I am going to make it my mission to take care of them.

We have to be at the club later for a family get together. We haven’t been to one since Levi had been in the accident, and I think it will be good for us all to get out of the house.

I know everyone has been bugging me to bring them by. I keep getting messages from everyone in the club; especially Dani. She wants girl time with her best friend.

We slowly get ready for the family get together. Levi and Ana look excited to attend; they are ready before I am. I just shake my head with a smile as they both sit on the bed and watch me get ready.

Fuck, I’m crazy about these two.

Levi “Ice”

When we get to the club, everyone smiles and cheers.

I missed being here, but didn’t have the energy and wasn’t able to move much due to the pain. It has lessened over time but it is still pretty bad.

Ana is immediately taken by Serena and Dani and moved off to a nearby table.

I walk over to Prez, Knuckles, and Rock who are standing with Maverick.

“Fuck, it’s good to see you here, brother,” Knuckles says with a grin.

“It’s good to get out of the house,” I tell him and ask the prospect for a pop since I’m still on pain meds and can’t have a beer.

“I bet you are having a good time with Viking playing nurse. Does he wear a cute little outfit too?” Knuckles asks with a laugh.

Everyone shakes their heads.

“Usually when he helps me shower, he’s naked,” I tell him with a wink.

Maverick shakes his head with a smile.

“Did you find anything?” Maverick asks Prez.

“Not a fucking thing,” Prez says, sounding pissed.

“Do you remember anything from who hit you?” Rock asks, looking at me.

“All I remember is a truck and a man with a scar. There was no cut or anything. That doesn’t rule out rival clubs though because he could have taken it off so no one could identify him. I know he got out and was ready to finish the job, but people came before he could,” I tell them. They all seem to be getting angrier with each word I say.

“The cameras were down in the area, and it was a partial blind spot, so no one knows who would come after you,” Knuckles says.

“We need to keep our eyes open. Since we have a lot of enemies, but you are still new to this chapter, it’s hard to point out who would be after you or if they were just gunning for someone in the club,” Prez says.

“We need to have Ana watched. If one of us isn’t with her, we need a brother on her. If he was after Ice, then Ana could be a pawn used to cause him pain,” Rock points out.

Fuck. I would fucking hate it if anything happened to Ana.

“We will make sure we have eyes on Ana, and every other Old Lady in the club. We have no idea what we are dealing with,” Prez says.

“That fucker messed with the wrong club,” Maverick says angrily.

“We will find him,” Prez says with determination in his voice.

I know that whoever it is will show his face again. He didn’t finish me off, so he will be back to do that. Either that, or he will go after someone else.

My gut is saying it’s a rival club. I’m not sure which one, since we do have a couple.

I glance over at Ana.

Nothing better happen to her.

I will do anything to protect her.

We decide to talk more in Church. Whiz is looking at other cameras to see if they picked up the truck from any of the adjoining streets. He had to come from somewhere.

After Church, we focus on having a good time and waiting on the food Mama has made. I always look forward to her meals.

Sometimes we need nights like this with family and friends.

I hear a shout and look over to see Rage glaring at Dani, Ana, and Serena. They are all laughing.

“What’s going on?” I shout over at them.

“Those women fucked with my beer when I turned my head,” Rage says, still glaring at them.

“What did they do to it?” I ask, fighting a smile.

“We just gave it more flavour,” Ana says with an innocent look on her face.

Rage gags. “They put tequila in it. A lot of tequila.”

“You don’t like tequila?” Serena asks with a smile.

“Fuck no. I haven’t had tequila since I was young and stupid,” Rage growls.

“We will know to try something else next time,” Dani says with a laugh.

“There is nothing else that needs to go into beer,” Rage snaps.

“You are lucky we didn’t put anything else in it. We could have been really mean,” Serena says with an evil grin.

“I don’t want to know what the fuck else you would put in there. I’m going to get a new beer and drink it far away from you ladies,” Rage says before getting up and walking to the bar.

“Those women are going to be menaces together,” Prez says with a shake of his head.

“These tricks they have are small. Let’s just hope it stays that way,” Maverick says.

“If this is what they do to have a good time, I would hate to see what they do when they are pissed off,” Knuckles says, looking scared of the idea.

“Don’t piss them off,” I say with a shrug.

“It won’t be that easy. I’m bound to fuck up at some point,” Knuckles says.

Tank walks over to Serena, and she says something to him before turning her head away like she’s done talking to him.

I wonder what that’s about.

I’m sure Ana will get it out of her and tell us later.

Fuck, Tank might be the first to experience the Old Lady’s anger.
