Finding My Way To You (Finding My Way #2)
Prologue
It is difficult to depart from the smoke when your self-esteem, dreams, goals, and aspirations are thrown into the fire at an early age. Even if you survived the lick of flames, the residue of every demeaning word still clings to you. The imprint from their fist is still lodged in your heart. It isn’t as easy to win the battle between who you want to be and who they told you are.
Emotionally unavailable adults start as emotional kids who love out loud but are told not to cry when they are hurt. People don’t realize you can’t have happiness without sadness, rage, or excitement. We get chastised for feeling sad, but instead of someone giving us the tools to manage it, we are told to suck it up. Every feeling gets placed into a jar, never to be opened.
The rage .
The sadness.
The joy.
They have all been stuck there in that jar for years. Until one day, you come across the person who makes you want to crack the jar open.
Phoenix is that person for me, and I will do whatever it takes to give her everything she requires of me.
