Chapter 7

Jack

I was relieved that Alexa feigned being too tired all weekend. I slept in the guest room where Paige had stored her clothes during her visit. I smiled broadly when I found a black lacy pair of her panties poking out from under the bed.

I spoke to one of my author friends who went through a divorce several years ago and asked for his Lawyer.

He told me that Gwen was the best divorce attorney in the Ogden area.

He told me that she did him a wonderful job representing him in his contested divorce.

I don’t foresee Alexa having any trouble with becoming free of me.

Hell, she spends more time on the road than at home anyway.

I intend to pay Alexa half of what our home is

worth and then insist that she find somewhere else to live. With her mid six figure salary, she can live anywhere she may want to choose. I also know that she has her own very healthy saving account.

I made it clear to my lawyer that Alexa and I will keep our own bank accounts and savings accounts. She can have all of her clothes, personal affects and keep her Mercedes Coupe. She will leave my home that I paid off with my book earnings and start her new life anywhere that is away from me.

After removing all of my clothes and personal items from the master bedroom and placing everything in the guest bedroom, I place the divorce decree on the kitchen table that I have already signed.

As soon as she signs the paperwork, I can get it back to my lawyer and the divorce can be final in 90 days.

I decide to be gone before Alexa get’s home from work. I leave my wedding ring next to the paperwork with a post it note.

Alexa-Just sign the papers and we can be done with this farce of a marriage. I’ve had all I can take. Be ready to vacate my home

I drive to the local bowling alley two have two chili dogs and an order of fries. I wash it all down with a large cup of Dr. Pepper.

Alexa

Monday 5:30pm

It is eerily quiet when I come into the house at the normal time I get home from my agency. I am surprised to find all of Jack’s clothes and possessions removed from the master bedroom.

When I come into the kitchen, I see a FedEx folder on the table with a piece of paper on top. I am shocked to see that it is divorce paperwork already signed by Jack. I feel a chill up my back when I read his post it note. He is really serious about this.

But he is right about this being a farce of a marriage. I have not felt any passion for my husband of seven years in quite some time. Mostly he has been a convenience to come home to after a long hard trip on the road. I gladly sign the paperwork and leave it on the table for Jack.
