Chapter 3
Jack
It was only by the luck of the draw that I had picked a hotel to spend the night in that had a coffee shop next door that I could purchase a Grande coffee and a pastry. I actually bought two cups of the coffee so I could have a second cup after I shaved and showered.
Jack: This is Piper. Please call me so we can talk. I am anguished over what happened to you tonight. I want to find a way to make everything up to you for what has happened with you and Angie over the past year. Please call me…Piper
I pick up the post it note that I placed next to the hotel coffee maker last night and punched it into my cell and added her name. I am incredulous that Piper wants to somehow make things better. But How?
I am pretty certain that I am done with my marriage to Angie. The way she has treated me is unconscionable these past twelve-plus months. Even before all this, things had been stale and passionless between us even though I tried desperately to get her reconnected with me.
Jack: Hello Piper? This is Jack
Piper: Oh Jack! I am so happy that you called me. Thank you Jack!
Jack: What is it you want to talk to me about?
Piper: Well Jack. There are a lot of things we need to discuss with each other.
Piper: I think it would be best if we could meet face to face. Not only do we need to talk, but I need to show you some things as well.
Jack: Okay. What do you suggest?
Piper: Well, Angie got to party last night. I think that maybe you and I should have a party of our own tonight. And I can show you what I need to show you as well.
Jack: Okay. I have most of my clothes and did not plan on going home anytime soon. Just say where and I will gladly meet you. How should I dress?
Piper sent me a photo text to use as my contact photo for her phone number. It is only from the shoulders up but it is still obvious that this is one gorgeous woman.
Piper told me to dress casually and added an address for a club I have never heard of before. Piper told me to say her name at the front desk since I am not a member of the club and they will call her to the front desk.
Angie
It feels like a kick in the stomach when I open my eyes Saturday morning and see that Jack’s side of the closet is empty. My mind slowly remembers the text that Jack sent to my phone at 8:30pm last night. It wasn’t till after midnight that I had tried to answer his text. What the hell have a done?
Jack is exactly the kind of man that woman normally say that they want. Jack is what you would call a nice guy. He is attentive and a gentleman. His is considerate in bed and a good lover.
But like so many other wives who have nice guys for husbands, I craved bad boys. I craved to be used like a sex object. I craved to be treated like a whore to be passed around. I craved the thrill that Pete introduced me to and enjoys with me.
Tears run down my cheeks when I go to the kitchen to start a pot of coffee and see Jack’s wedding ring on the kitchen table.
Damn it! I should have had a conversation with Jack and explained the swinger lifestyle with him. Maybe even suggested an open marriage so Jack would be free to fuck any woman he might desire.
Again I try to call Jack’s number. I get a single ring and then it goes directly to voice mail. This is what happens when someone has blocked your number. When I try to text his number, it seems to go through but I do not get the “delivered” message. Yep! He has blocked my number. Now what do I do?
For some reason, I think of Piper. She was the one who pointed out Jack’s text message last night. Maybe she knows something? Maybe she might know where he is.
I call Pete’s number. When he answers, I ask him if I could talk to Piper. “I have no idea where she is right now. She was gone when I woke up a short while ago. She did not leave a note and she has her phone off,” Pete informed me.
“That’s not good! When I got home last night, the house was pitch dark. When I went through the house, I found that most of Jack’s clothes are gone and his laptop too. Then I found his wedding ring on the kitchen table,” I told Pete.
“It seems like Piper was the last one to have any contact with him. Maybe she knows where he went?” I suggested. “Well, we won’t know anything before she comes home. I’ll have her call you,” Pete told me.
Piper
I took the morning to have a spa day with mani-pedi included. Next will be the hair shop to get my hair straightened and silky as can be. After that, I’ll go to the mall to get a dress just for tonight. I want to knock Jack’s socks off.
