Journal Entry 11
Zaskja Stormsson
My Wolf,
It’s been three days since my “talk” with your father. I’ve stared at the beam of life so many times in the last seventy-two hours that I’m starting to go cross-eyed.
My birth year remains unchanged. Then again, Ulf has been touring the different pack lands since the day after our talk and has only just returned. I’m hoping he’ll transform the six into a five today.
While I wait, I’ve drawn up a list of pros and cons about going through with wheedling out Kjell’s whereabouts from you.
Can you tell I’m trying to convince myself it’s the right thing to do?
So, here’s my list:
CONS
You, Saga, and Mor will fume.
Kjell might will inform his king that a valkyrie lives among the Vales (apparently, he already suspects as much, but this will be confirmation).
Kjell could take revenge on the wolves involved with the death of his dragon. ( This is what scares me most.)
PROS
The Sons of Odin will stop their siege on the Wilds (thereby ending the need for rationing).
The Vales All five packs will be ecstatic.
No more risk of someone getting bitten by the prisoner. That someone being you, since no one else knows where you’re hiding him. (I can’t believe you’ve managed to keep this a secret!)
Taeric will see the release of his vampyr as a peace offering and proof that I’m not some evil valkyrie. Therefore, he won’t hunt me. (Am I off my rocker to believe this?)
The chances of my nightmare coming true will dwindle, not because I will have served Ulf, but because once I’m officially of age, you can claim me. No one will dare harm the Alpha’s future daughter-in-law. (Especially, the Alpha.)
Once all of this is over, we could be together, and not just behind closed doors. (Unless you cast me aside for betraying you?)
