Chapter Thirty-Five
Salizar
The feeling of hurt lingered as Altaur answered Chris’ questions. To think he actually thought I would be okay with all of this. He was mine, as was Benji. I would die for them.
“—and my father’s soul is in the book?” Chris asked, sounding off. I registered the telltale emotion of grief pouring out of him and hated that I no longer held his hand.
“No, the book needed a soul to be opened, a sacrifice. Him dying was the sacrifice. Even if he hadn’t known about it,” Altaur explained.
“Was that why he died?” Chris asked.
“Yes. But again, not much is known about the book. It’s that old. Isabelle had to guess most of it, but she did know about the whole sacrifice thing at least,” Altaur said.
“But how do they know Chris’ blood is the thing they need?” Benji asked.
“Because the book stopped glowing after you’d left their mansion,” Altaur said. Then looked grimly down at his desk. “She has a seer, I believe, because she knew it was Christopher it needed.”
“Did she tell you why she wasn’t just asking us to hand over the book? It could’ve saved her a lot of time if she’d just done that,” Benji said, his tone also affected.
“At first Isabelle thought you’d already opened the book,” Altaur explained.
“She told me the book holds power and since we don’t know what sort of power yet, she must’ve feared you’d gained the power and was mad powerful because of it.
She acted in desperation, not that she would ever admit as such. ”
“So that's why they kidnapped me,” Benji whispered.
Altaur nodded. “I think most would’ve kept the book for themselves if they knew the power it held. They either took Benji to know what was in the book, or to use him for bargaining.”
“I still don’t remember what they said or if they asked me any questions,” Benji admitted, sounding apologetic.
“Isabelle will tell us more when we see her,” Altaur assured us. “They’re allies now and since they need our help getting it open, they’ll be on their best behavior.”
“I fucking hope so,” I growled.
Altaur looked directly at Chris, offering one of his kind smiles. “I’m sure Isabelle will explain more when she comes. After all, I can only tell you what I know, and it’s sadly not much.”
We left Altaur’s office, both of my men silent as we returned to our rooms. Neither of them seemed very pleased with me at the moment, but there was nothing I could’ve done.
If we’d run, they would’ve found us and that wouldn’t have ended up being pretty.
At least doing it like this, we would still be alive afterwards, even if my men were mad at me for it.
Every decision I made was with them in mind.
I hated that they doubted me; that they even believed I would happily hand them over to Isabelle.
Benji slumped onto the couch, Chris joining him. They both just sat there, staring at nothing. It was unnerving. “Please talk to me, my loves, I can’t stand seeing you two like this.”
“What if I remember?” Benji whispered, making me regret asking him to speak. My poor bonded would see his attackers, the ones who cut him open and left him to die. I should’ve guarded him from ever seeing them again.
“You don’t have to be there,” I reminded him softly.
That was obviously the wrong thing to say.
Benji glared at me, like he’d once done so freely at every opportunity.
“If you think for one second I could ever leave Chris behind in a time like this, then you don’t know me at all.
” He stood and with a raised middle finger aimed my way, left the living room, slamming the door to one of the guest rooms further down the hall.
I sighed, disappointed in myself. I should’ve phrased that better.
Chris looked at me, his mask of indifference on. It hurt, seeing how closed off he was, not even giving me a view of his true emotions. “Why didn’t you tell us yesterday?”
“I’d planned to,” I assured him. “I just hadn’t expected to walk in on you two naked and all.”
“Ah, so it was our fault we weren’t warned. Got it.” He left the living room, too, not mad like Benji, which made it even worse. He seemed deflated and hurt, like I’d truly betrayed him.
I sat on the couch thinking about how much one could fuck up in a single day.
“It was amazing,” Benji said, praising Diane’s cooking.
Both of my men had ignored me for the rest of the day, but when dinner time came around, they both left their rooms to seek out food. I’d followed, because how could I not. They’d eaten in silence, only the murmurings of the others in the kitchen could be heard.
“Thank you!” Diane beamed. “I tried making it a more filling dish, with the long night ahead and everything.”
Chris and I stared at Diane in confusion. “What long night?” I dared ask. Had Altaur changed the plans and told Isabelle to get here sooner?
Diane looked confused. “The full moon. I thought it lasted all night, was I mistaken in thinking that? No offense,” she hurried to say, looking at Chris. “But you’re the first werewolf in the coven so we don’t know much, yet.”
We must’ve looked as horrified as I felt. How could we have forgotten?! What if Diane hadn’t told us about it, would Chris have shifted inside our rooms? Would he see the coven as pack enough to not attack them? Holy… so much shit could’ve gone down.
“Of course,” I said, trying to mask my horror. “Thank you for thinking about that, Diane. We better get out into the woods and prepare.”
Chris and Benji both followed me, this time I felt that their silence had to be because of the shock. Once we were far enough away from the kitchen, I spoke. “Jesse has a tent we can borrow for the night. I’ll go and grab it. Can you gather blankets and pillows for us?”
They nodded and hurried to our rooms. I found Jesse and got the tent and a way too long explanation on how to put it up.
Night was creeping in and I simply didn’t have the time.
So, I told Jesse exactly that and dashed to our rooms, finding Chris and Benji running around and gathering all sorts of stuff, most of which we didn't really need.
“We need to get going,” I told them, grabbing as much as I could carry. They followed my lead and soon we were walking inside the forest, the mansion no longer visible as we got further into the woods.
“This should be far enough,” Chris declared, sounding detached to the whole thing.
“You sure?” Benji asked, eyeing our surroundings.
Chris gave him a soft smile. “I am. I know this isn’t exactly glamorous, but it’ll do.”
“I’ll build us the cabin for next time,” I assured him, getting the tent out and trying to somehow make it look like a tent. I was failing so far.
“A cabin?” Benji asked, sounding excited.
“Yes, a place we can stay each full moon. It will be ours and no one will dare enter it.”
“I love that,” Benji said, helping me out with the tent. He knew what he was doing and ten minutes later we had a tent.
Chris and Benji worked together to get it nice and comfy, the size of it enough for the three of us, even with Chris in his werewolf form, though I doubted we would sleep in it.
It was mostly for the waiting period, and a place for me to put them once Chris had shifted back.
I highly doubted he would want to claim me, with him being so mad it seemed unlikely.
I would watch over them like I’d done the last time.
“This should do it,” Benji declared, pecking Chris’ cheek.
They’d yet to treat me like they used to, keeping their distance where affection was usually given. I hated it.
“We just made it in time,” Chris said, looking at his phone, then handed the phone to Benji as he stripped out of his clothes.
“Under ten minutes to go,” Benji declared, putting away both his phone and Chris’ and placing them in the tent.
I sent a quick text to Altaur so he knew no one should venture out here. Maybe they’d forgotten about tonight like we had. Then I just leaned against a tree, ready for another long night ahead. At least I would get a good show.
Five minutes later, Chris howled and as he stood and shifted, Benji and I watched in fascination. Last full moon we’d been in the middle of a fight and I couldn’t really see the transformation, this time I could. It was a cool experience. I just hoped his werewolf form wasn’t angry with me as well.
Chris’s eyes glowed green as they settled on me. Fuck, okay he looked mad. If he wanted to kill me, then so be it. I couldn’t do anything if one of the men I’d claimed wanted to see me gone. I’d rather die than know that. I just hoped Benji would survive it.
He growled low as he prowled forward, his eyes locked onto mine. His abs moved, his chest, his whole being was just pure strength. He was a hot werewolf, even his tail and ears made him hotter.
Benji stood a safe distance away and watched as Chris crowded me against the tree.
I tilted my head to the side, submitting to my alpha.
It made him whine before he started growling again.
He bit into my neck, startling me, but he wasn’t biting to kill, no, he was marking me as his and I felt so relieved at the gesture.
I fully expected him to go to Benji now, but instead he used one claw to cut off my pants, shredding them in the process.
I was about to be claimed, it seemed.
He tugged me away from the tree, then pushed me on the ground, licking and biting my skin.
He was all animal when he flipped me, making me present my ass to him.
I was slightly nervous about this part. I hadn’t been taken like this since I’d been human and it had only happened once in my human life.
That time had been so horrible that I hadn’t done it since.
I gladly gave this part of myself to my alpha, though, and he knew it.
His tongue pushed into me, making me forget everything else as I experienced getting my ass eaten for the first time ever.
It was fucking addictive, the way he growled and made noises of contentment as he licked into me.
I hoped Benji was enjoying the show. I couldn’t see him from my position, meaning my ass was likely the only thing Benji could see of me.
The sky decided to open up then, making rain fall down around us, creating the scent of damp ground and wet leaves, the sound of rain drops hitting the trees a comfort. It made us seem even more isolated out here.
“Mine,” Chris growled, gripping my hips tighter.
He then moved around and I knew I was about to get fucked harder than ever before.
Just like I’d done with him for our first time, he slammed into me, forcing me to take his entire length in one go.
There wasn’t nearly enough glide to make it pain free, but I was still loving it.
This was my wolf, my man, and his animal side wanted to claim me, showing everyone that I was the thing he wanted Chris to do, and the werewolf only had once a month to do what he wanted. I was who he wanted.
Chris howled loudly behind me, momentarily stilling his movements before picking up speed, slamming harder and harder into me, making my hands slip and slide on the wet mud, my knees gliding as well, making him change the angle forcing my front down onto the mud.
I was filthy. I was wet. And I was loving every second of it.
“I’m going into the tent!” Benji called out.
“Okay!” I rasped back, glad he was okay.
Chris pulled my hair, forcing my head back. “Just me,” he warned. “Right now, you’re mine.”
“Yours,” I agreed, panting as he kept slamming into me.
If he wasn’t in a sharing mood right now, I would be his only one for now.
Maybe Chris’ werewolf couldn’t really understand the whole two mates thing at once.
He’d now claimed us both, so I hoped that meant he saw us as equals.
Maybe he would even claim us both at the same full moon one day.
“My vampire,” he growled, licking my neck over his bite that was slowly mending together.
“My alpha,” I gasped back, feeling his teeth sink in again.
He pulled my body flush against his chest, then howled as he came, his knot forming and forcing my own release to pummel through me. It came on so fast, I believed I’d even passed out for a few seconds.
Chris laid us down, spooning me from behind, then nuzzled into my neck. My werewolf was content and I had been fully claimed. I would definitely feel this tomorrow. I closed my eyes and just basked in the feeling of my alpha inside of me as the rain continued to fall.
