Chapter 22 #2

“Andrea Braxton. I believe I was given an incomplete file. My apologies. Can we have a moment?” Detective Braxton held open the door indicating they should move to her office.

“This isn’t over,” Briscoe hissed.

“It was over the moment I walked in the door, Briscoe. You’re just too narrow-minded to see it,” Olivia said calmly before turning to Braxton. “We’ll be waiting for your apology.”

The room cleared as the Rose sisters took the chairs across from Quinn and Quinn stood to give Miss Violet her chair. “What are you doing here?”

“Nico called Henry’s office, but they’re in court.

Their receptionist called Nora at the Fluff and Buff and told her about the arrest. Aniyah was there getting her nails done and called DeAndre to see if he could do anything.

He was on a call, but is on his way when he finishes up.

Then she called Matt, who was having breakfast in the café.

Poppy overheard it and told us. We remembered that nice Agent Warner who helped you so we had Aniyah drive us and we picked up Agent Warner on the way. ”

“Where’s Aniyah?” Quinn asked of her fiercely loyal instant-friend.

“Oh, she couldn’t come inside. She’s carrying and can’t find all the bullets for her gun. They’re somewhere in her purse.” Miss Daisy said.

Quinn felt Olivia chuckling next to her.

“We can’t just let you in!” a panicked officer said a second before the door opened and State Trooper DeAndre Drews walked in with Sheriff Matt Walz, a very pissed off Prince Zain, and . . . Quinn stared. Who was that?

The man stood in an expensive suit but there was this strange sound when he walked,. “Who are you?” Quinn asked.

Before he could answer a woman in a stunning sweater dress came in carrying a baby. “Oh, thank God. You left your sword in the limo.”

The Rose sisters clapped their hands and jumped up. “Addison! Give us that baby right now.”

The woman smiled kindly and handed off the baby to the Rose sisters.

Ryan Parker came stumbling in then. He was in jeans and a T-shirt with spit up down the back of it. “Who’s the dickhead who arrested you and pulled me off of paternity leave? I haven’t slept in days. Someone’s getting fired.”

“I like him,” Olivia said with a grin. “You’re looking for Mark Briscoe. Your Agent Warner is giving him an earful in Detective Braxton’s office.”

“Andrea? She’s usually better than this.” He looked to DeAndre and Matt and gave a head nod. “Come on.”

“What is going on?” Quinn asked in wonder.

“Oh, so sorry. I’m Addison. Henry and Neely Grace’s daughter. And this is my husband, Draven. We’re in town for Founder’s Day and heard you might need our help. So, you’re the one Knox fell in love with. We have been waiting so long for him to find someone nice.”

“I’m in a police station. I don’t think I’m what he needs. I’m sorry, are you a lawyer too?”

“I was, but being Queen of Bermalia takes too much time to keep my license up.”

Quinn blinked. Then all the pieces fit together. “You’re the American queen? And your dad delivers the world’s worst pickup lines?”

Addison smiled fondly at that. “He does. He just loves it and doesn’t want to give it up.”

Quinn turned to the man adjusting himself. “That makes you—”

“King Draven, yes. Which is why we came. Well, Addy wanted to meet you and I like to throw my title around every once in a while. It’s why Zain is here. We like to feel useful.”

Draven stepped forward and held out his hand. Quinn shook it and saw Olivia frown. “What’s that noise? It’s like glasses clinking together,” Olivia asked, looking around the room.

Draven’s face lit up as Zain groaned. Suddenly Draven unzipped his pants and his balls were on the table. “Not glass. Jewels. I used diamonds and sapphires to support the Thoroughbreds.”

“Honey, how many times have I told you not to just plop your balls on the table? Ask first. They may not want to see them,” Addison said, sounding as if this was not the first time she had told him this.

“It’s nice to see them not hanging so low,” Miss Lily said.

“Yes, nice memories,” Miss Violet added.

“And not a wrinkle on them!” Miss Daisy exclaimed.

Draven smiled. “I get them Botoxed,” he told them proudly. “Wrinkle-free balls. Makes applying the jewels easier.”

“Do you mind if I take a picture? There is someone in Shadows Landing I’d love to show this to. He had his penis bitten by a snapping turtle, but it somehow made it bigger.”

Quinn snapped her head over to Olivia as Draven posed with his sparkling balls for her to take a picture. That was when Detective Braxton walked in.

“Freaking Keeneston,” she muttered.

“What is it?” Corker asked.

“Just a prince, a queen, and a king with his balls out.”

Corker and Warner both glanced inside and blinked in disbelief.

“Detective Braxton. It’s good to see you again.

My father sends his regards. He would have been here to represent Quinn, but he and Mom are stuck in court.

I’m the back-up’s back-up plan in case her new attorney couldn’t get here.

” Addison smiled serenely and Quinn decided she really liked the woman, queen or not.

“Did you know Quinn is Knox Everett’s girlfriend?

” Detective Braxton cursed again under her breath.

“I know! We didn’t think he’d ever find anyone either. ”

“I knew it,” Ryan called out from the hall. “And now I have a newborn to get back to. Ty, work with Andrea to get this mess straightened out.”

Warner smiled down at Andrea. “It’ll be my pleasure.”

The Rose sisters jumped on that like free Bengay. “Oh, Agent Warner is such a nice young man. A detective could do a lot worse, you know,” Miss Daisy told Detective Braxton as Miss Lily took Agent Warner aside.

“Andrea is a wonderful detective. So smart and single. We thought she might end up in Keeneston a time or two, but maybe she was just waiting for you,” Miss Lily said, giving Warner a wink.

“Before we book the church—” Olivia said, breaking up the matchmaking.

“Oh, no need to book it. We have Father Ben on standby,” Miss Violet said, rocking the baby.

Olivia blinked and then shook her head. “About my client?”

Brenton Corker stepped forward and cleared his throat. “Miss Kennedy is free to go, now that we have all the evidence. We’re so very sorry for this arrest and will make sure it’s taken care of.”

“I notice Briscoe isn’t here.” Olivia crossed her arms and didn’t look happy. Quinn was fine with his absence.

“He was called back to our office, ma’am,” Brenton said. “I’ll be working with Detective Braxton and Agent Warner. You’re free to go. Please call any of us if anything else happens.”

Olivia stood and so Quinn did too. Draven tucked his balls back in his pants and zipped up. Addison took the baby. Zain helped Miss Violet stand and then DeAndre and Matt appeared to help Miss Lily and Miss Daisy back to Aniyah’s car.

“I didn’t even get to throw around my diplomatic immunity. Ahmed has all the fun,” Zain grumbled. But then he turned and smiled at Quinn. “But I’m glad you didn’t need me to. I was ready to declare you a citizen of Rahmi and break you out of jail.”

“I would have had my sword, but someone made me leave it in the limo,” Draven pouted.

“Yes, but you were still able to show off your royal jewels, sweetheart,” Addison called out as they all trooped from the police station. People stared at the group but Quinn was just happy they weren’t staring at her.
